Chapter 578: Chapter 578 You Are Not Worthy Yet_1

Jiang Chen glanced at Chen Jianlin, a hint of playful amusement curling the corners of his mouth.

He still remembered how this guy had bragged about joining Long Ya in front of him. Now, the expression on his face was truly priceless!

”This person is everyone’s chief instructor, Jiang Chen, the chief instructor. Just now, it was the chief instructor who conducted your first assessment. All one hundred and sixty-three of you failed the assessment and have been eliminated,” Shen Xiangtian introduced Jiang Chen to the people, while also explaining the reason for their elimination.

The crowd’s gaze towards Jiang Chen was filled with zeal—here was someone who had jumped from a height of a hundred meters without a scratch! With such a formidable person as our chief instructor, we will surely become stronger!

The undismantled team members all showed faces full of excitement.

Yet those who had been eliminated were pale, thinking how they were eliminated in the first round of such strenuous training—how could this be?

”Report to the chief instructor, I want to know what the standards for your assessment were this time, just falling down?” a warrior questioned, unconvinced.

Jiang Chen glanced indifferently at the group of eliminated team members, his tone impassive, ”I am the chief instructor. I call the shots for this training. All my words are orders. In the future, I don’t want to hear anyone ask me why, or any other questions unrelated to the training, because I won’t answer. What you need to do is obey, obey, absolute obedience!”

”However...,”

After a pause, Jiang Chen continued, ”I can make an exception to answer your question today. The standard for the assessment was just falling down.

When I came down just now, all of you were standing; but in the subsequent two instances of pressure, you fell. Don’t tell me you were just startled or that you slipped—if a special forces warrior slips, he doesn’t deserve to stay in the special forces!

The reason you fell is because you were scared!

You experienced fear in your hearts and believed that you could not possibly overcome this fear. A soldier defeated by fear does not deserve to be trained by me, Jiang Chen.”

The faces of the eliminated team members flushed with embarrassment. Indeed, they had been afraid earlier, truly feeling that persisting might kill them, with the presence of death so vivid. It was clear enough to send chills down their spine!

”All eliminated personnel, leave immediately!” Jiang Chen barked.

Upon hearing this, Chen Jiantao stepped forward and shouted, ”What are you still doing here, making a spectacle of yourself? Right turn, march!”

Clack, clack, clack!

More than a hundred people, unwillingly followed Chen Jiantao and left the training field.

”Old Shen, did you not tell them about what happens after the major competition?” Jiang Chen turned to look at Shen Xiangtian.

Shen Xiangtian hesitated for a moment, then spoke quietly, ”I didn’t tell them; I was afraid it would be too much for them to bear.”

”One who can’t bear the weight doesn’t deserve to stay,” Jiang Chen retorted coldly.

Giving the crowd a quick glance, Jiang Chen slightly frowned, ”Why are you divided into two formations?”

”Report, we are veterans, they are new recruits!” Feng Lang answered loudly.

Jiang Chen’s gaze turned icy as he barked, ”Say that to me one more damn time?”

Feng Lang was startled for a moment, looking at Jiang Chen with a puzzled face.

”Veterans? New recruits? Are veterans the soldiers of Long Ya, and new recruits not? During the assessment just now, apart from two people who helped their team withstand my pressure, what were the rest of you doing?

Do you think that as veterans, you could face the crisis head-on as a whole unit at the first sign, that you are remarkable? That you are impressive?”

On the battlefield, do you veterans really think that as long as none of you die, there’s no need to care whether any of the new recruits do?” Jiang Chen roared furiously.

Every veteran’s heart shook, and Feng Lang’s face turned crimson as he bellowed, ”Report, that’s not the case! On the battlefield, all soldiers around me are my comrades, and I would take a bullet for them!”

”Right, whether they’re new recruits or veterans, we’d all take a bullet for them!” Bao Xiong followed suit, yelling out loud.

Jiang Chen sneered coldly, ”Words are easy to say, but your actions just now did not reflect that!”

The faces of Feng Lang and the others turned red simultaneously. Moments ago, they had reflexively gathered together, and indeed, they had failed to pay due attention to the side of the new recruits.

”I heard from Old Shen that among you, there are those who survived that mission with him ten years ago. Now, those who lived through that mission step forward!” Jiang Chen commanded with an icy tone.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh!

Neat footsteps were heard as Feng Lang and five other warriors stepped forward, arranging themselves into a line in front of Jiang Chen.

”Report, and me!” A shout came, and Chen Jiantao ran over quickly from a distance.

”Join the line.” Jiang Chen nodded.

”Yes, sir!”

After Chen Jiantao joined the line, Jiang Chen turned to Shen Xiangtian, ”Do you accept the training?”

”Me?” Shen Xiangtian was momentarily stunned before he quickly replied, ”I’m also to be trained?”

”Aren’t you a member of Long Ya?” Jiang Chen said expressionlessly, ”Or do you think you’re not an elite?”

”Damn! Of course, I’m an elite, I am the most elite of Long Ya!” Shen Xiangtian cursed loudly and ran straight to stand beside Chen Jiantao, standing erect and looking at Jiang Chen with arrogance.

Jiang Chen gave a faint smile and gestured with his hand, ”The three of you, step out and join them.”

Tap tap tap!

Three figures stepped out from the formation of new recruits and moved to the end of the line where Shen Xiangtian and the others stood. These three were the same individuals who had stood at the front of the new recruits’ formation, bracing against Jiang Chen’s imposing aura.

The pressure exerted by Jiang Chen varied from person to person; each individual felt a different level of oppression, corresponding to their utmost limit, and these three had managed to stand straight under such pressure, which pleased Jiang Chen greatly!

”From this moment, you people will be divided into ten squads. These ten individuals will be the squad leaders. Choose your own leaders now, you have one minute!” Jiang Chen scanned the remaining crowd and called out in a level tone.

Rustle rustle rustle!

The faces of the rest changed as they swiftly ran towards the ten people including Shen Xiangtian. When everyone had taken position, a surprising scene unfolded.

Behind Shen Xiangtian and the other seven veterans were naturally many people, but what was incredible was that the three new squad leaders’ lines had more people than the most populated squad of Shen Xiangtian’s seven.

All the new recruits, except for Chen Jianlin who stood in Bao Xiong’s squad, were behind the three new leaders.

Jiang Chen walked up to the three new leaders, glanced over them, and asked with interest, ”It seems you hold considerable respect in their hearts. Can you tell me your names?”

”Report, head instructor, are you asking for our names or our codenames?” the one in the center replied loudly.

Jiang Chen was slightly taken aback then smiled faintly, ”Codenames, for now, you don’t deserve to have me know your names.”
