Medic Martial Dragon King

Chapter 576: Chapter 576: Not Taking Seriously at All_1

Phew!

Shen Xiangtian took a deep breath and gazed intently at Jiang Chen. ”Mr. Jiang, the training has a death quota, and moreover, this time’s death quota is very high. I didn’t tell you directly because I hoped you wouldn’t let the presence of a death quota... I know, in the eyes of worldly martial artists like yourself, the lives of ordinary people aren’t valued, but they are my soldiers, I...”

”Team leader Shen, don’t forget that aside from being a martial artist, I am also a doctor. Do you think I would regard these soldiers’ lives as worthless? When I asked about the death quota, it was just so I could be psychologically prepared. I can assure you, I will do my utmost to ensure the safety of every single soldier!” Jiang Chen stated gravely.

Shen Xiangtian paused, and as he looked into Jiang Chen’s sincere eyes, a flush of guilt suddenly washed over him. He spoke apologetically, ”Mr. Jiang, I’m sorry, I was being too suspicious!”

”No matter, I can understand Team Leader Shen’s feelings,” Jiang Chen said with a slight smile.

Shen Xiangtian blinked and spoke softly, ”This time’s death quota is fifty percent!”

”What?” Jiang Chen was suddenly stunned, he could have imagined the death quota would be high, but he had not anticipated it would be this high. This was a death quota, not a rate of elimination, nor did it include those who would be discharged due to injuries sustained during training!

Chen Jiantao’s face changed, and he couldn’t help but speak up to remind, ”Mr. Jiang, this quota was secured by the team leader through a military pledge; if...”

”Jiantao, shut up!” Shen Xiangtian yelled, glaring fiercely at Chen Jiantao.

Jiang Chen looked solemnly at Shen Xiangtian and demanded, ”Team Leader Shen, I need to know everything about this training.”

”Mr. Jiang, what Jiantao was about to say has nothing to do with the training,” Shen Xiangtian said as he gently shook his head, again warning Chen Jiantao with his gaze.

Jiang Chen said indifferently, ”I am the chief instructor of Dragon Tooth. It’s for me to decide what’s relevant and what’s not. If you don’t clear things up, I refuse to conduct this training.”

”Mr. Jiang,” Shen Xiangtian said, his face full of panic as he looked at Jiang Chen.

Ignoring Shen Xiangtian, Jiang Chen turned and looked at Chen Jiantao. ”Speak!”

Chen Jiantao glanced at Shen Xiangtian, and with gritted teeth, he said in a low voice, ”The team leader has made a military pledge. If Dragon Tooth doesn’t come first this time, and if the death rate exceeds ten percent and the casualty rate exceeds thirty percent, the team leader will have to face a military court martial... execution by firing squad!”

Jiang Chen’s heart trembled fiercely, and he looked at Shen Xiangtian with disbelief. He could never have imagined that Shen Xiangtian would go to such lengths. This was a true burning of the boats!

”Dragon Tooth is my foundation; it’s what I’ve wanted to protect all my life. If Dragon Tooth is gone, so is my soul. What’s the point of living like a walking corpse?”

Shen Xiangtian gave a bitter smile. ”Right, Mr. Jiang, those guys are all unruly. If you want them to strictly follow your training methods, you might need to show them something impressive.”

”Show them something impressive?” Jiang Chen smiled faintly. ”Alright, then that’s what I’ll do.”

”Report to the team leader, we will soon arrive at the base!” the driver’s voice came through the headset, and Shen Xiangtian said softly, ”Land directly on the training field.”

”Yes!”

Jiang Chen squinted as he glanced out the helicopter window. Below the helicopter, a towering and massive training base had come into view. His eyes flickered with a hint of a smile at the corner of his mouth.

Show them something, eh? Well, time to shake up these folks.

...

Currently, at the Dragon Tooth Special Combat Team’s training base in the Dongfang Zone, two neatly formed platoons, one large and one small, were waiting there.

”Hey, what kind of person do you think our team leader has invited to be the chief instructor?”

”I heard it’s a young man.”

”A young man? You’ve got to be kidding me! They’re sending some greenhorn to train us?”

At that moment, within the formation, they were discussing Jiang Chen who was about to arrive.

”Bao Xiong, don’t underestimate this new head instructor. I heard that he’s a Martial Artist,” a cold and detached man with a scar on his face spoke indifferently.

”So what if he’s a Martial Artist? The number of Martial Artists we’ve killed is already in the double digits!” The burly man who had complained about the youngster curled his lip. ”If that kid isn’t capable of anything, I don’t want to waste my time with him. Feng Lang, you don’t think this kid is just here to polish his résumé, do you?”

The cold man known as Feng Lang slightly furrowed his brow, a cold light flashing in his eyes, ”If some rich second generation thinks they can come here to shine because they believe Dragon Tooth has fallen, I’ll let them know that Dragon Tooth will never be humiliated!”

”Good, when that head instructor arrives, we’ll measure his weight!” Bao Xiong spoke with a warlike tone.

”Captain Feng Lang, Captain Bao Xiong, you don’t need to handle this personally, leave it to us!” shouted a young man in a smaller formation.

Feng Lang glanced at the young man without responding, while Bao Xiong asked with interest, ”Are you Chen Jianlin, the one who retired and was then selected to join us again?”

”Yes, Captain Bao Xiong, I’m Chen Jianlin,” the young man said obsequiously, stepping towards Bao Xiong.

This young man was Chen Jianlin, who had been taught a lesson by Jiang Chen before. After the camping event, he had returned to the army and now had officially been selected to join Dragon Tooth.

”Chen Jianlin, don’t you know discipline? Get back in line!” Feng Lang’s eyes flashed coldly as he barked the order.

Chen Jianlin’s face changed color and he hurriedly returned to his position, not daring to anger Feng Lang.

Feng Lang and Bao Xiong were not the oldest in age among them, but they were the most senior in qualifications. Along with the other three standing together, these five were the survivors from the original elite squad of Dragon Tooth that had taken heavy losses on a past mission. The other two were Shen Xiangtian and Chen Jiantao.

In the Dragon Tooth Special Combat Team, you could offend your own team leader, even your squadron leader at worst, you would only face some punishment. But if you offended any of the seven elite squad members who had survived from back then, you would be shunned by the entire Dragon Tooth, because these seven were the pride of the whole Dragon Tooth!

Returning to the center of the formation, Chen Jianlin still felt some discontent. If he could climb up the ranks and associate with these seven Dragon Tooth founding elites, it would bring untold benefits to his career in Dragon Tooth.

”Captain Bao Xiong, when that head instructor comes, let me weigh him up for you!” After some thought, Chen Jianlin called out to Bao Xiong.

Bao Xiong looked at Chen Jianlin with amusement and nodded noncommittally.

Rumble rumble rumble!

A faint rumbling sound arose, and a special combat team member pointed to the distant sky and announced, ”Look, the squadron leader is back!”

”Finally, we can see this head instructor. I just wonder if he’ll be up to scratch!” one of the special combat team members said with a smirk.

”Xie Long, are you also thinking of sizing up the head instructor? How about we let you do it?” Bao Xiong turned his head towards the speaking team member.

Xie Long chuckled wickedly, ”You go ahead first. If he can’t even handle you, big guy, does he deserve to get a hand from me?”

”Haha, we’d like to see that too.”

The others all laughed loudly, their voices carrying not the slightest bit of respect for this head instructor who was now right above their heads!
