Chapter 575: Chapter 575 How many death indicators?_1

After leaving the hotel, Jiang Chen followed Shen Xiangtian to one of Jinhai’s military zone bases from where they took a helicopter to the location of the Dragon Tooth Special Combat Team.

”Report, Commander Shen, Dongfang Zone base commander of the 73296 brigade, Lü Zijian, is reporting to you!” As soon as Jiang Chen and the others drove into the military zone base, a man in his thirties was already waiting at the entrance.

”Commander Lü, military duties are pressing, so I won’t stand on ceremony, get in the car, we need to board the plane immediately,” Shen Xiangtian, sitting in the back row, rolled down the window to speak with Lü Zijian.

”Yes!” Lü Zijian responded and got into the vehicle on the passenger side.

The car started again, with Chen Jiantao driving toward the helicopter pad.

”Commander Shen, on the way here you didn’t say, why are you in such a hurry to take me to the special forces team?” Jiang Chen glanced at Lü Zijian before turning to look at Shen Xiangtian.

At that, Shen Xiangtian sighed softly, ”Mr. Jiang, do you know the current predicament of our Dragon Tooth?”

”I do not.” Jiang Chen shook his head very directly.

A grave expression flickered across Shen Xiangtian’s eyes, ”Mr. Jiang, this time, it will depend on you to preserve the legacy of our Dragon Tooth!”

”Ah?” Jiang Chen was stunned for a moment, not quite following, ”What do you mean? Preserve the legacy?”

Shen Xiangtian nodded gravely, ”The Dragon Tooth Special Combat Team has been established for nearly a hundred years and has always been ranked first among the Flame Dragon Five Special Combat Squadrons.

However, a mission ten years ago resulted in heavy losses for our Dragon Tooth Team, with over ninety percent of our elite special forces and the old commander making the ultimate sacrifice.

At that time, had the old commander not fiercely protected me, I would have died in that mission as well.

Before the old commander passed away, he left his last words, instructing me to restore the Dragon Tooth Team to its former glory.

Yet, during the annual nationwide military zone maneuvers over the past ten years, our Dragon Tooth Team has been consistently ranking at the bottom among the special combat brigades, not only being defeated by the other four Great Special Combat Brigades but also losing to some second-tier special combat teams.”

Speaking to this point, Shen Xiangtian let out a disheartened sigh:

”Now, with only three months left until the next nationwide military zone maneuvers, our upcoming opponent is the Flying Eagle Special Combat Squadron, known as the ’Tiger of the North.’

They have held the title of the number one special forces team immediately following Dragon Tooth, and this time, if we lose again, the designation of the Dragon Tooth Special Combat Team will be revoked.

Dragon Tooth will become history!”

Shen Xiangtian’s expression grew intense with emotion, his eyes pleading as he looked at Jiang Chen, ”Mr. Jiang, I know this is a difficult request, and to put it bluntly, asking you to take this position as chief instructor is because we truly have no other options left. I...”

”I understand!” Jiang Chen nodded solemnly, ”Commander Shen, rest assured, I will give it my all. I cannot promise anything else, but as long as you trust me and dare to implement the training methods I provide, I promise to deliver a Dragon Tooth reborn from the flames!”

”Thank you, thank you, Mr. Jiang!”

Shen Xiangtian spoke excitedly. It’s not that he hadn’t considered that Jiang Chen might not be up to the task of training soldiers, but he had no other choice and had witnessed too many miracles in Jiang Chen.

He chose to place his trust in Jiang Chen and gamble on this chance!

Jiang Chen closed his eyes solemnly, recalling a decade’s worth of dream memories.

Within those dream memories, he had seen various advanced training methods. After reviewing all the training methods, Jiang Chen furrowed his brows, knowing that it would be impossible to turn a team that had been at the bottom into the nation’s number one special combat team in three months with conventional methods.

Consequently, Jiang Chen chose an extreme training method, a combination of all the most severe techniques within the multitude of options available.

Having decided on the training method, Jiang Chen began to comb through Ancient Martial Arts records for a suitable Cultivation Technique to propose for the soldiers’ practice.

Lü Zijian, in the passenger seat, had been silent since hearing Shen Xiangtian’s story, knowing it was not his place to interject in such a conversation and that the news was something he absolutely could not reveal.

But he was puzzled and occasionally glanced at Jiang Chen sitting back with his eyes closed, struggling to understand why Shen Xiangtian would put the hope of Dragon Tooth on such a young man.

Screech!

The car stopped, and Jiang Chen opened his eyes to look outside. There was a small helicopter pad, and on the pad, an armed helicopter had already started warming up.

”Let’s go,” Shen Xiangtian called out, and the group exited the car and boarded the armed helicopter under Lü Zijian’s watchful eye.

Roar!

The helicopter ascended into the sky, swiftly flying off into the distance. Lü Zijian watched until it shrank to a small speck, murmuring to himself, ”I hope Commander Shen has not chosen the wrong person. I haven’t even joined Dragon Tooth yet, how could it be disbanded!”

Sitting in the helicopter, Jiang Chen looked around curiously, as this was his first time in a helicopter, let alone a military combat helicopter, so everything intrigued him.

”Mr. Jiang, from here on out, we won’t delay further and will head straight to a Dragon Tooth training base. There, we have selected three hundred elite special forces members and one hundred exemplary new soldiers from the entire Dongfang Zone—a total of four hundred. Along with six team leaders, that makes four hundred and six individuals, all under your command. All training equipment is to be prioritized for your use,” Shen Xiangtian spoke earnestly, clearly indicating that he did not hold much confidence in his heart, but indeed, he had no other choice.

Jiang Chen glanced at Shen Xiangtian, considered for a moment, and then asked an important question, ”Commander Shen, when I used to watch TV, I saw that special forces training could have a mortality rate. Is there a death quota for our training?”

Shen Xiangtian was taken aback and looked at Jiang Chen in surprise, ”Why would Mr. Jiang ask this?”

”To make a team that ranks at the bottom among all special combat teams to win against the top-ranked team: Commander Shen, do you think conventional training methods would suffice?” Jiang Chen said plainly.

Shen Xiangtian’s expression shifted slightly, tentatively asking, ”Mr. Jiang... already have a training method in mind?”

”Yes, I have determined the training method, but I need a figure, a mortality rate figure. If this figure does not meet my expectations, my training method will be completely overturned,” Jiang Chen emphasized with a nod.

Shen Xiangtian’s expression showed a moment of struggle, and for a time, silence fell.

Chen Jiantao glanced at Shen Xiangtian and then fixed his gaze on Jiang Chen’s eyes, seriously asking, ”Mr. Jiang, could you disclose your training method?”

”No, I can’t. My training method requires adjustments after seeing the people. I can’t tell you the specifics now,” Jiang Chen shook his head.

Chen Jiantao looked stunned, a hint of concern flashing in his eyes. He glanced at Shen Xiangtian again but then fell silent.
