Wang Dongyang’s face fell, and he said in a pitiful tone:

”Manager Zhang, those causing trouble on our construction site are from a steel supplier called ’Storm Steelmaking.’ They demand that we use their steel, otherwise the construction won’t be able to continue. May I ask, do you know this Storm Steelmaking?”

Without directly asking for help from Chenfeng Group, Wang Dongyang hinted at his intention in a roundabout way.

”Storm Steelmaking? It’s a steel factory in the western city. I’m aware of it, but our company has no conflict with them, right?” Zhang Chenggang looked puzzledly at Wang Dongyang, frowning slightly.

Wang Dongyang said with a tearful face: ”Manager Zhang, what should I do! They will surely go to the construction site and cause trouble again tomorrow. If this happens daily, I won’t be able to continue the project, and then it will delay your company’s project.”

”Wait, I’ll ask around.” Zhang Chenggang waved his hand and took out his phone to start making calls.

After making a few calls, Zhang Chenggang put away his phone, looking displeased at Wang Dongyang: ”President Wang, why are other sites fine, and only yours is troubled? Our company has no financial entanglement with Storm Steelmaking, I think it’s you who has a conflict with the people of Storm Steelmaking, and that’s why they target you, right?”

”Impossible, Manager Zhang, I have no dispute with them,” Wang Dongyang quickly defended.

Zhang Chenggang sneered: ”Only you know if you have a conflict with them. Since it’s not our company’s fault, we will not interfere. You need to resolve it yourself. If your company fails to meet the expected standard during the first inspection, we’ll have to reassign the project to someone else, as it’s clearly written on the contract.”

”No, Manager Zhang, I—” Wang Dongyang became anxious, hastily trying to explain.

”No need to say more. I only look at the inspection standards,” Zhang Chenggang raised his hand to stop Wang Dongyang and turned to leave the reception room.

Wang Dongyang was dumbstruck. What was this all about? He hadn’t offended anyone from Storm Steelmaking.

Feeling extremely frustrated, yet with Chenfeng Group uninvolved, Wang Dongyang had no choice but to dejectedly leave the group’s premises.

Upon getting into his car, Wang Dongyang furrowed his brows and wore a bitter expression as he thought of solutions. Suddenly, he thought of the Ye Family, whose influence in Jinhai was not small and who might be able to help: ”I should seek out the Ye Family; perhaps they can find a solution.”

Muttering softly to himself, Wang Dongyang started his car and headed for Ye Jingyi’s home.

Upon arriving at the Ye residence, Wang Dongyang saw that Ye Yanni had just returned from shopping.

”Dongyang? What happened to you?” Spying Wang Dongyang’s bruised face, Ye Yanni called out in surprise.

Wang Dongyang waved his hand: ”Let’s talk inside.”

Walking into the Ye Family home, everyone was there, with Ye Jingyi just home from the hospital, and the family was eating.

”Dongyang? What brings you here? What happened?” Zhou Ru greeted Wang Dongyang with joy, then noting his condition, asked in confusion.

Wang Dongyang slumped down next to Ye Yanni, his face showing distress: ”A gang of thugs came to the construction site causing trouble. They insisted we use their steel. When I refused, they beat up people and even smashed our site’s construction facilities!”

”What? That’s outrageous!” Zhou Ru’s face changed as she exclaimed, ”Sue them! Is there no law anymore?”

”Exactly, we live in a society ruled by law! Call the police!” Ye Jianxiong joined in.

Wang Dongyang quickly waved his hands: ”No, that won’t do! They look like bad news, probably gangsters. If they get sued, it’s nothing big for them, but my project will be doomed. I might even be in danger. We can’t go to the law!”

”Well, if you can’t sue, you can’t be harmed,” Ye Yanni said anxiously.

”Indeed, but what should we do? Just give up on the project?” Ye Jianxiong frowned and said.

Wang Dongyang shook his head again: ”We can’t just abandon it! All the materials are ready. If we don’t do it, it’ll be a huge loss!”

”This...” Ye Jianxiong and the others were at a loss for words.

Ye Yanni glanced at Ye Jingyi, a spark of an idea flashed through her mind, and she said to Ye Jingyi, ”Isn’t Jiang Chen supposed to be very capable? He even managed to take care of The Four Seas’ issues. Let him try; it’ll save him from loafing around all day.”

Ye Jingyi was startled for a moment. Because of Li Yaoyao’s incident, she hadn’t contacted Jiang Chen for two days; she didn’t even answer his calls. Still, she didn’t want Jiang Chen to get involved in this matter. According to what Wang Dongyang had said, the troublemakers at the construction site were just a bunch of hooligans, and it could be dangerous to go there. She didn’t want Jiang Chen to be in danger.

”Exactly, let him do it. That good-for-nothing should be dealing with such matters.” Zhou Ru nodded and said, ”Jing Yi, call Jiang Chen and insist he takes care of it. If he can’t handle it, he shouldn’t bother coming back to our house!”

Ye Jianxiong also nodded and said, ”Yes, have Jiang Chen go. It’ll keep him from lazing around all day without a proper job.”

”Exactly, all he does is mooch off others, never lifting a finger to work. People like him should go deal with the hooligans,” Ye Yanni snorted derisively.

Ye Jingyi frowned slightly, glanced at Ye Jianxiong and the others, and seeing that everyone was staring at her, she knew she had no choice but to agree. She reluctantly took out her phone and dialed Jiang Chen’s number.

”Hello, Jing Yi, you finally decided to call me,” a voice tinged with excitement came from the earpiece.

Ye Jingyi hesitated for a moment, and Zhou Ru shouted loudly on the side, ”Jiang Chen, come over to our place right away. We’ve got some work for you, stop loafing around all day!”

There was a silence on the other end of the phone, then Jiang Chen’s voice came again, ”Jing Yi, is something wrong?”

”You come when you’re told to, what’s with all the nonsense?” Zhou Ru shouted again.

”A group of people are causing trouble at my brother-in-law’s construction site; they want your help to take a look,” Ye Jingyi said softly after glancing at Zhou Ru, and then added a reminder, ”It’s a bunch of street thugs.”

”It’s no problem, I’ll come over to your place right away!” Jiang Chen was also eager to mend his relationship with Ye Jingyi, and hearing that there really was something amiss, he agreed immediately.

After hanging up, Ye Jingyi said softly, ”Jiang Chen will be here soon. You guys can go to the site together after he arrives and you’ve had your meal.”

”What meal? Can’t he feed himself?” Zhou Ru glared at Ye Jingyi, then turned to Wang Dongyang, ”Dongyang, finish eating quickly. Once that good-for-nothing arrives, you should head straight to the construction site.”

Ye Jianxiong nodded and said, ”Right, eat quickly and don’t let that freeloader join in.”

”Okay.” Wang Dongyang nodded in agreement, picked up his chopsticks, and began eating.

Ye Jingyi frowned again, glanced at the clock, and felt that Jiang Chen should have already eaten since he’d promised to come right away. She didn’t press the issue further.

After a while, the doorbell rang.

”It must be that good-for-nothing Jiang Chen. Dongyang, have you finished eating?” Zhou Ru asked.

”I’m done, I’ll leave now.” Wang Dongyang wiped his mouth and stood up.

Ye Yanni also stood up, ”I’m full too, let’s go take a look.”

”Alright.” Wang Dongyang nodded, turned, and walked toward the door.

Upon opening the door, it was indeed Jiang Chen who had arrived. Wang Dongyang didn’t even invite Jiang Chen inside but simply said, ”Let’s go, follow me.”

Jiang Chen was stunned for a moment, looking through the doorway at Ye Jingyi. Ye Jingyi nodded at Jiang Chen and called out softly, ”Be careful.”

”Okay.”

Jiang Chen smiled and nodded. With just those words, his heart felt much warmer.

”Come on, what’s the dilly-dallying for? Let’s go!” Ye Yanni urged, and the group walked out of the door.
