Gong Lin’s brows furrowed, sensing that something was amiss.

Yet, Jiang Chen’s lips curled up. He had anticipated such a situation, standing up with a smile and greeting, ”Hello everyone, I’m Jiang Chen. I look forward to working with all of you in the future.”

Without any prolonged pleasantries, Jiang Chen finished speaking and, without waiting for everyone’s response, sat down.

Gong Lin glanced at Jiang Chen, then began to introduce the others in the room to him one by one:

”President of Chenfeng Real Estate Group, Lin Guoliang.”

”Owner of Jinyu Full Hall Antique Auction Company, Chen Furong.”

”President of Seaside Paradise Catering Company, Duan Yong.”

”Owner of Dongfang Haoqing Club, Wu Nini.”

”President of Jinhai New Energy Development Company, Yang Dehua.”

”President of Beautiful Woman Company, Wan Qianyun.”

”Owner of Luxury Car Meet, Gan Yiyong.”

...

Any of these individuals, picked at random, had a net worth of ten billion or several tens of billions. If people knew they were gathered here together, it would certainly be a blinding sight.

After the introductions, Gong Lin called out, ”Let’s begin the feast.”

As the banquet started, the group of owners began to clink glasses and chat amongst themselves, offering toasts to each other without giving Jiang Chen, the president of Sihai Investment, any further attention.

Wang Hui stood by cautiously, his face the picture of respectful attention, but inside he was overjoyed.

Despite the respectful facade he maintained towards Jiang Chen, in his heart, he was filled with envy. How could he accept that someone younger and from poorer circumstances had taken the position of president right out from under him?

Thus, he now adopted the attitude of someone enjoying the show, leisurely savoring his own meal.

Elder Gong sat by, eating and drinking with a smile, not saying a word.

After a while, Gong Lin could not stand it any longer and raised her glass, saying, ”Let’s all toast to President Jiang.”

The banquet hall fell silent for a moment, but nobody raised their glass. Lin Guoliang, the president of the Jinfeng Real Estate Group, set his glass down and chuckled before asking, ”President Jiang, we are all quite curious about you. May I trouble you to tell us what educational qualifications you have?”

”Senior year in high school,” Jiang Chen answered casually as he took a bite of food, ”I didn’t graduate.”

Pfft—

Laughter erupted in the banquet hall.

”Ha ha... Senior year and didn’t graduate? President Jiang, are you sure you’re not joking with us? Then, may I ask which family you belong to?” someone else inquired further.

The group of owners all turned their eyes towards Jiang Chen.

”I don’t have a family; I grew up with my mother in a rural area,” Jiang Chen continued to reply indifferently.

The executives in the banquet hall looked at Jiang Chen with amusement, and Wan Qianyun, the president of Beautiful Woman Company, also spoke up, ”Then, do you have any investment experience before joining The Four Seas?”

Jiang Chen was completely forthright, ”I hadn’t made any investments before coming to The Four Seas.”

”Ha ha...”

”Oh, come on, really?”

The group of owners erupted into a buzz of discussion, with Gan Yiyong, the owner of Luxury Car Meet, even slamming his fist on the table and standing up:

”Director Gong, our companies may be invested in by The Four Seas, but asking us to come here and share a drink with such an incompetent waste of a president, expecting us to respect him? That’s impossible. Let him stick around your company to loaf around and die of boredom; we’re leaving.”

After speaking, Gan Yiyong pushed back his chair and turned to leave.

Once someone took the lead, everyone else started to stand up to leave as well.

Gong Lin panicked, her face a picture of cluelessness.

Old Master Gong watched the scene unfold expressionlessly, his eyes showing a scrutinizing look. He wanted to see what Jiang Chen was going to do.

Wang Hui, who reveled in others’ misfortune, was slouching with his head down, his shoulders jerking as he was about to laugh himself into a stomachache. Yet, he dared not let out a sound, the effort to restrain himself was visibly uncomfortable.

”Wait a moment.”

Just then, Jiang Chen remained seated as steady as Mount Tai, only when Gan Yiyong reached the door of the private room did he suddenly call out, ”If you leave now, I’m afraid you’ll miss a good show.”

The crowd was startled, ”What do you mean?”

”Before coming to The Four Seas, it’s true that I had never made any investments.”

Jiang Chen leisurely sipped his drink with a smile, glanced at the crowd, and raised a finger, ”After joining The Four Seas, I haven’t done much either. The first thing I did was to invest in Liying Cosmetics. Now everyone knows about their new product. Just that alone, the fifty million investment multiplied several times over, and there’s still long-term dividends to come.”

A group of executives was taken aback. Was this shrewd investment actually made by this young CEO?

This...

The crowd exchanged glances, those executives who had stood up felt their faces burning and weren’t sure if they should sit back down, so they stood and continued listening.

Jiang Chen raised a second finger and continued, ”Secondly, over the past few days, I’ve spent ten billion to buy two thousand acres of land in Jingjiang.”

Upon hearing this news, Gong Lin couldn’t help but smile ruefully.

This was the decision that gave her a headache and she couldn’t understand. She really didn’t know how Jiang Chen came up with it off the top of his head.

And now, he’s openly talking about it.

Could it be, he thinks this decision is a wise one?

”What? Ha ha ha ha...”

Indeed, after a moment of stunned silence, the group of executives burst into laughter.

”Ha ha... Great investment, such a foolish one! It’s so stupid it can’t get any stupider!”

”Invest in Jingjiang? Are you crazy? That piece of land is wedged between Jincheng and Jinhai, caught in the middle, without any prospects for development. To invest there is to suffer a huge loss!”

”To start by investing ten billion, The Four Seas is going to suffer a huge loss this time!”

After a wave of ridicule, the group of executives turned to Old Master Gong, ”Old Master, look at the CEO you’ve chosen. It’s one thing to be incompetent, but he is also squandering money. He’s going to drag The Four Seas down with him! Old Master, how could you dare to employ such a person? Better dismiss him quickly!”

Old Master Gong, too, was listening beside them, infuriated. He slammed his fist on the table and stood up, shouting at Jiang Chen, ”How come I don’t know about this? Jiang Chen, for such a huge investment, why didn’t you consult with me? Why didn’t you discuss it with Lin Lin? By making these decisions on your own, do you intend to bankrupt Sihai Investment?”

Jiang Chen looked at Old Master Gong indifferently with a smile, ”Business opportunities are fleeting. I am the CEO and have the authority to make decisions. Besides, the land has already been purchased. It’s a done deal.”

Old Master Gong’s body shook with anger as he shouted, ”You... Jiang Chen, I retract my support for you. Even if the Family Head wants to protect you, I will still have you removed from your position!”

Yes, hurry up and remove him, so he stops throwing his weight around on my and Jiayan’s heads. Wang Hui cheered for Old Master Gong in his heart.

The group of executives, however, were startled upon hearing this.

This unremarkable Jiang Chen was actually backed by the Gong Family Head?

But then they reassured themselves; what good would the Gong Family Head’s protection do if he was a loser? Even the Great Emperor couldn’t support a lost cause.

Gong Lin trembled inside, completely panicked, and overwhelmingly anxious. But she too was a new chairman to the company, and the executives showed her respect because she was the daughter of the Gong Family Head. Her influence couldn’t sway these executives for now, especially with the opposition of the Old Master, leaving her completely at a loss.

But at this moment, Jiang Chen stood up.
