Upon hearing the salesperson’s words, Xu Gang was dumbfounded:

”Frozen? How is that possible?”

Li Liyun glanced at Xu Gang, ”Did you take the wrong card? That pauper is watching, don’t embarrass yourself.”

Li Liyun knew Xu Gang’s financial status; otherwise, she wouldn’t be with him. The first thought that came to her after hearing the account was frozen was that Xu Gang took the wrong card.

Stunned for a moment, Xu Gang switched to another card and swiped it again.

Ding!

Frozen!

Another one.

Ding!

Still frozen!

Xu Gang’s complexion changed, Li Liyun’s complexion also changed, and even the salesperson’s complexion changed, eyes filled with doubt while looking at Xu Gang.

”You wait.”

Xu Gang, with a gloomy face, quickly told the salesperson to wait and took out his phone to call the bank.

”Hello, this is Xu Gang, the Chairman of Maocai Group, is there a problem with my account? ... Why is it frozen ... The company’s capital chain is broken? How is that possible?! My company is funded by The Four Seas Investment, The Four Seas Investment!” Xu Gang’s cold sweat was streaming down as he roared into the phone.

Li Liyun’s face completely changed, the salesperson silently took back the POS machine and disdainfully snatched the contract from Li Liyun’s hands.

Xu Gang hastily hung up the phone and then called the company: ”What’s going on? How could the company’s capital chain be broken?”

The secretary’s panicked voice came through the phone: ”Chairman Xu, we just found out, The Four Seas Investment has withdrawn its funding, all the funds are gone, our company’s finances are now in the red, and the banks have started calling in their loans!”

Xu Gang was horrified: ”What? Why would The Four Seas Investment withdraw? I personally secured that investment, and it was absolutely problem-free!”

Jiang Chen’s mouth curled into a smile, why would The Four Seas Investment withdraw their investment? You’re asking me? If you ask, I’ll tell you.

”Stabilize the company, I’m coming back right away.”

Xu Gang was in a hurry, he instructed over the phone and got up to leave swiftly.

Li Liyun tugged at Xu Gang, ”President Xu, we haven’t bought the house yet...”

”Smack—”

”Buy your mother a bitch!” Xu Gang slapped Li Liyun across the face and glared at her fiercely before bolting away.

Buy, buy, buy... Buy my ass! My fucking company is falling apart, and you talk about buying a house, go to hell!

Li Liyun swayed, almost falling to the ground, seeing the smile at the corner of Jiang Chen’s mouth, she felt a searing heat all over her body and, unable to stay a moment longer, fled the sales department with her face burning with shame and annoyance.

Jiang Chen smiled faintly, took his mother to the waiting area to sit down, and waited for Manager Wang Youcai to come back.

...

Half an hour later, at a coffee shop opposite The Four Seas Investment.

”Hello, President Gong, this is Xu Gang, where are you right now? ... Alright, alright, I’ll wait for you at the coffee shop across from your company.”

Xu Gang contacted a person from the Gong Family with whom he was familiar and waited anxiously in the coffee shop.

After leaving the real estate company, he rushed back to his company to confirm that The Four Seas Investment indeed had withdrawn their funding and immediately went to The Four Seas Investment without a moment’s rest.

After a while, a middle-aged man wearing glasses entered the coffee shop.

Gong Qiang, the Vice President of The Four Seas Investment, had been with the Gong Family for a long time but was from a collateral branch.

”President Gong,” Xu Gang called out, standing up to greet him.

As the two took their seats, Xu Gang couldn’t wait to ask: ”President Gong, what’s going on? Why did your company withdraw its investment in our company?”

Gong Qiang frowned slightly and spoke softly, ”I inquired about this matter; it was an order personally given by the Chairman to save face for the new CEO.”

Xu Gang paused, then asked in confusion, ”New CEO? Why? I don’t recall offending any important person. Who’s your new CEO?”

Gong Qiang replied, ”It’s a young man named Jiang Chen, personally invited by the Chairman.”

”Jiang Chen?!”

Xu Gang was stunned.

How could it be Jiang Chen?

He’s just a freeloader; how could he possibly have been invited to be the CEO of The Four Seas Investment?

What the hell is going on with the world?

After taking a deep breath, Xu Gang certainly didn’t want to go begging to Jiang Chen. His eyes shifted as he spoke in a low voice, ”President Gong, The Four Seas Investment is owned by your Gong Family, how can you let an outsider be the CEO? Moreover, to step over your head. You’ve put so much effort into The Four Seas Investment, how can you let a youngster climb over you?”

”You think I want this?”

Gong Qiang’s brows furrowed, and he responded coldly, ”He was invited by the Chairman himself. No matter how much I dislike him, I can’t just outright dismiss him, can I?

Humph, some greenhorn has climbed over my head. If it were someone from the family’s direct line, fine, but an outsider? I’m still fuming!

He just arrived and cancelled your funding, which was my project, and without saying anything, invested fifty million into a company called Liying Cosmetics.

Damn, the investment department didn’t even review it; they just sent the contract straight over.

A bunch of bootlickers!”

Xu Gang paused for a moment. He was all too familiar with Liying Cosmetics; wasn’t it Ye Jingyi’s company?

Moreover, he had heard from Li Liyun that Jiang Chen had married Ye Jingyi.

Instantly, Xu Gang’s eyes lit up, and he leaned in with a sinister tone, ”Liying Cosmetics? I know it; that’s Jiang Chen’s wife’s company.”

”What?” Gong Qiang was taken aback and quickly caught on, a chilly smile forming, ”Oh really, investing in his wife’s company? How proper! Starting to misuse power on the very first day at work. I have a plan now, just wait and see. I will make sure he’s finished. Just wait to watch his misfortune unfold!”

”Good!”

Xu Gang’s face brightened with glee, hearing something promising in Gong Qiang’s words. Considering he knew the management structure of the higher-ups at The Four Seas Investment, Xu Gang understood that what Gong Qiang suggested was enough to ensure Jiang Chen was kicked out.

The two walked out of the café with cold smiles on their faces.

Gong Qiang returned to the company, while Xu Gang simply found a nearby hotel to stay in, waiting for Jiang Chen to be thrown out, then he would return to The Four Seas Investment to re-sign the investment contract.

...

After viewing the house, Jiang Chen and his mother were very satisfied.

The villa truly lived up to its 30 million price tag: spacious and splendid with solid and luxurious decorations. It couldn’t be better.

They returned to the hotel, discussing moving in the next day when a phone call summoned him to The Four Seas Investment.

”What’s going on?” Jiang Chen sat in his office and looked at Zhou Qing.

Zhou Qing spoke nervously, ”President Jiang, the board members have jointly called for a board meeting, it seems... it seems they want to dismiss you as the CEO.”

”Dismiss me?”

Jiang Chen was taken aback, puzzled. They were the ones who invited me. I wasn’t even allowed to refuse, and now they want to dismiss me? What’s the situation? What are they playing at?

Seeing Jiang Chen’s silence, Zhou Qing thought he was angry and spoke anxiously, ”President Jiang, so, are you... going to go?”

”Of course, I’m going. Why wouldn’t I? I’m actually curious to see what these guys are up to!” Jiang Chen replied irritably as he got up and left the office.

Zhou Qing sighed and followed him with trepidation.

She hadn’t expected that the CEO would face dismissal so soon after arriving. In this family-owned company, it seemed that outsiders really weren’t valued.
