The meeting room of Sihai Investment was bustling at this moment, all board members had arrived except for Jiang Chen.

Gong Lin sat at the head of the conference table, with the seat to her left empty, reserved for Jiang Chen, and to her right sat Gong Qiang.

Glancing at the door of the meeting room, Gong Qiang said with a meaningful tone, ”Our new CEO sure knows how to make an entrance, making so many of us wait for him.”

”Exactly, this is outrageous.”

”He’s really full of himself! This is a family business, and he, an outsider, wants to call the shots?”

”That’s not entirely fair to say, he was personally invited by the chairman, he must have some abilities!”

The board members whispered among themselves.

Gong Lin frowned as she looked at the documents in her hands, as if she didn’t hear the discussions around her.

Gong Qiang swept his gaze across the room, glanced at Gong Lin, and his lips curved into a victorious smile.

Hmph! A greenhorn thinks he can ride on my head, today I’ll kick you out. And incidentally make Gong Lin lose some face.

Seeing that the members had discussed enough, Gong Qiang spoke up again, ”President Gong, why don’t you give CEO Jiang a call?”

Without even looking at Gong Qiang, Gong Lin spoke indifferently, ”Has our meeting time arrived?”

Gong Qiang was startled for a moment and said reluctantly, ”Yes, the meeting time hasn’t arrived, but we can’t let everyone wait for him, can we?”

”If you don’t want to wait, you can leave; no one is stopping you!”

A detached voice came from the entrance as Jiang Chen walked in with Zhou Qing.

Gong Qiang’s expression changed and he said darkly, ”CEO Jiang, what do you mean by that?”

”In the company, the chairman has the final say, and if the chairman doesn’t have any comments, what are you making noise about?” Jiang Chen, having learned from Zhou Qing about today’s meeting initiated by Gong Qiang, had no intention of being pleasant to him.

Gong Qiang felt a tightness in his chest. He really couldn’t rebut Jiang Chen’s words, and he also understood the implication.

In the company, the chairman reigns supreme, followed by the CEO. As the CEO, Jiang Chen, apart from the chairman, indeed no one else had the right to point fingers.

”Now that CEO Jiang has arrived, let’s start our meeting,” Gong Qiang said, no longer arguing with Jiang Chen, silently thinking, let him be arrogant for now, and soon I’ll make him leave.

”Yes, let’s start the meeting.”

”Let’s begin.”

Several board members echoed in agreement, with grim expressions. They were all plotting the same as Gong Qiang.

Turning her head, Gong Lin said to Gong Qiang, ”Since today’s meeting was proposed by Vice President Gong, you should chair it.”

Gong Qiang’s spirits lifted, feeling that Gong Lin had conceded, and without even looking at Jiang Chen, he immediately began to preside over the meeting, ”Alright, I will chair today’s meeting.”

”Today’s meeting mainly addresses two issues: one, the withdrawal of funding by Maocai Group; two, the investment in Liying Cosmetics.”

”These two issues...”

Gong Qiang turned his head to look at Jiang Chen and said with a dark smile, ”CEO Jiang, would you like to explain?”

Jiang Chen raised his head and looked at Gong Qiang before replying coolly, ”Explain what?”

”Explain why you decided to do such things?” Gong Qiang stared directly at Jiang Chen.

Jiang Chen smiled faintly, ”I wanted to do it, so I did it. What’s the problem? As the CEO, don’t I have the authority to decide on matters of investment and divestment?”

”CEO Jiang, it’s true that you’re the CEO, but you can’t be arbitrary and use the company’s convenience to settle personal matters,” Gong Qiang spoke harshly: ”You bear a grudge against Xu Gang, the chairman of Maocai Group; without regard for whether the investment brought benefits to the company, you withdrew the funding. And that Liying Cosmetics, huh, isn’t that your wife’s company?”

Jiang Chen’s brow furrowed. Honestly, he did not have experience with high-level corporate skirmishes and felt somewhat at a loss when faced with Gong Qiang’s aggressive questioning.

Gong Lin, sitting beside, also appeared anxious, but she did not have a way to help him at the moment.

In the end, Jiang Chen still chose to speak the truth, ”Yes, the withdrawal of investment from Maocai Group is because Xu Gang offended me, I admit it. Investing in Liying Cosmetics is also because it’s my wife’s company. So what?”

After saying that, Jiang Chen pondered for a moment, then continued, ”What kind of enterprise is Maocai Group, Vice President Gong? Don’t you understand? Why invest in a company associated with the underworld? Liying Cosmetics has a good reputation in the Jinhai city cosmetics industry. Why can’t I invest?”

Gong Lin’s expression tightened, and she smacked her forehead. It’s over, how could Jiang Chen be so honest?

But Gong Qiang, hearing Jiang Chen’s direct admission, was thrilled.

Ha ha ha ha, Jiang Chen, oh Jiang Chen, you’re too green!

While laughing inwardly, his expression turned stern, and he sneered, ”President Jiang, there’s no need to make unreasonable arguments here. Since you’ve admitted that you made the decision based on personal matters, I suspect you of mixing private interests with public affairs!”

Then, he turned to all the directors, ”I propose to remove President Jiang Chen from his position.”

”Seconded!”

”Seconded!”

The board members in the conference room began to raise their hands in response.

”They’re voting; I’m going out for some air.”

Jiang Chen said in a low voice to Gong Lin and left the conference room.

Gong Qiang glanced at Jiang Chen and a smile of victory appeared on his face.

Jiang Chen strode out of the conference room with a furrowed brow, feeling agitated.

The current scene seemed to bring him back to those days when everyone looked down on him and isolated him.

But he really had no experience dealing with such matters and had no idea where to start.

Just concede defeat?

No!

But what should he do?

Lost in his troubled thoughts, suddenly someone called out next to him, ”President Jiang?”

Jiang Chen turned his head to see an unfamiliar middle-aged man who had appeared beside him.

Jiang Chen asked with confusion, ”You are ...?”

”My surname is Liu, I’m a friend of Director Gong.”

The person was the Gong family’s butler, Liu Zeming.

Jiang Chen nodded and looked at Housekeeper Liu with curiosity, ”Is there something you need?”

Housekeeper Liu pointed towards the conference room and spoke with a smile, ”President Jiang, I’ve heard about your situation. Do you want to give up?”

Jiang Chen clenched his fists tightly and shook his head, ”Of course not! Money and such don’t matter, but I just don’t want to admit defeat. I’ve been keeping my head down for too long, and now I just want to hold my head high in front of everyone.”

Liu Zeming smiled and handed Jiang Chen a file bag, ”Well, then this is for you. Inside is all the incriminating material on Gong Qiang. You know how to use it, right?”

Jiang Chen’s face brightened as he took the file bag and glanced at it, his expression becoming visibly excited.

Then, he examined it carefully, his face growing more delighted the more he read, and finally he closed the materials with a thud and nodded to Liu Zeming, ”Thank you.”

Liu Zeming smiled, ”No need to thank me, I just hope that President Jiang has a prosperous future and a brilliant career.”

After speaking, he turned and walked away.

Watching the figure walk away, Jiang Chen’s fists tightened and then relaxed, and at last, he lifted his head and walked towards the conference room.
