”Dudu dudu—”

Faced with the dial tone on the other end, Liu Zejiang felt a little stunned.

Hadn’t he just told Jiang Chen some bad news?

But why did Mr. Jiang seem so happy about it?

Happy that he couldn’t get the loan?

What’s going on!

...

While Liu Zejiang was confused, the Ye Family was truly overjoyed, even Ye Jingyi temporarily put Jiang Chen aside.

After all, securing a 50 million loan meant the company’s problem was solved, everything was going to be all right.

After a moment of joy, the family decided to go to the bank first to finalize the loan, with five people taking two cars to Wanguo Bank.

”We’re looking for your Manager Liu.” As soon as he entered the bank door, Wang Dongyang waved dismissively at the receptionist, looking quite haughty.

Zhou Ru, Ye Jianxiong, and Ye Yanni looked at Wang Dongyang with admiration.

A successful person should indeed carry such an air.

Only Ye Jingyi slightly furrowed her brows, but considering her brother-in-law had secured the loan for her, she let it pass.

The receptionist glanced at Wang Dongyang, then caught sight of Ye Jingyi and remembered she was the beauty who had been personally received by the bank manager a few days ago. His eyes lit up immediately, and his attitude became respectful, ”Certainly, please wait a moment.”

Seeing the receptionist’s respectful manner, Ye Yanni said in surprise, ”Husband, you have such prestige at Wanguo Bank, even the receptionist is so polite to you.”

Zhou Ru followed up immediately, ”Of course, Dongyang has secured a 50 million loan, how could he not have some influence to manage that.”

”It’s nothing, all trivial matters.”

Wang Dongyang nonchalantly waved his hand, trying to seem indifferent, but his smiling face betrayed his true feelings.

Then, Wang Dongyang suddenly thought of something, took out his mobile phone, and pretended to casually play with it, sending a message with a flick of his finger.

In the bank manager’s office, Liu Zejiang had just received a notification from reception that Ye Jingyi had arrived, and he hurriedly wanted to go out to welcome her when his mobile phone rang.

He looked at the message, which read: ”Manager Liu, this is Wang Dongyang. I have a 50 million credit agreement for Liying Cosmetics from your bank. Say that I was the one who secured this contract, don’t mention Jiang Chen. I owe you one for this, and I’ll be sure to repay the favor another day.”

Liu Zejiang was taken aback for a moment, then suddenly recalled Jiang Chen’s odd attitude over the phone and immediately understood.

So Jiang Chen had his achievement stolen from him.

But...

Liu Zejiang frowned, even Miss Ye didn’t know? It looked like Mr. Jiang wanted to surprise Miss Ye, but this Wang Dongyang had intercepted him.

Hmph, well played, Wang Dongyang.

Liu Zejiang felt an immediate displeasure. The contract had been acquired with his help alongside Jiang Chen; in essence, the contract was also a product of his own efforts. Now, with Wang Dongyang cutting in halfway, he wasn’t only cutting off Jiang Chen, but Liu Zejiang as well.

It seems today I need to avenge Mr. Jiang properly, and maybe if he’s pleased, he’d put in a good word for me with General Manager Zhu. Who knows, my position might just improve!

Having understood the logic, Liu Zejiang nodded slightly, put away his phone, and moved towards the bank’s lobby.

”Manager Liu.” An expectant Wang Dongyang called out upon seeing Liu Zejiang approaching proactively. He took the contract from Zhou Ru’s hand and quickly walked toward Liu Zejiang.

As he reached Liu Zejiang’s side, Wang Dongyang handed over the contract and didn’t forget to remind him again, ”Remember, Manager Liu, it was me.”

Liu Zejiang feigned confusion, gazing blankly at Wang Dongyang, making no effort to mask the volume of his voice: ”What do you mean, it was you?”

Wang Dongyang’s face stiffened, and the Ye Family members looked at him with suspicion.

Liu Zejiang didn’t care about their reactions; he opened the contract and immediately his expression changed dramatically: ”Wang Dongyang, what is this? Where did you get this credit contract from? Our bank has already announced a tightening of credit, we are not handing out large loans at the moment, how did you get this? Did you steal it?”

”What?”

This stern tone stunned Wang Dongyang, who looked at Liu Zejiang dumbfounded.

The Ye Family members were also taken aback, completely bewildered, looking at Wang Dongyang.

Ye Jingyi blinked, realizing it was due to credit tightening; last time Manager Liu said there was no way to get a loan, probably because of this. But how had her brother-in-law managed to get a credit agreement?

Wang Dongyang panicked, pointing at the contract, ”No, Manager Liu, I didn’t steal this contract, look it has the signature of Vice President Zhu Zhengkun of the Flame Dragon region!”

”Nonsense!”

Liu Zejiang’s expression grew even more severe: ”Of course, I recognize General Manager Zhu’s signature. So, Wang Dongyang, you even dare to forge General Manager Zhu’s signature, what can’t you do? Wang Dongyang, why didn’t I realize your capabilities sooner?”

”No, I mean...”

Wang Dongyang was completely dumbfounded, at a loss for words. He had just taken credit for Jiang Chen’s achievement and couldn’t turn around and claim the contract was Jiang Chen’s, as anxious as an ant on a hot pan, but without any solution.

The Ye Family members were also stunned, with sweat breaking out on their foreheads. Stealing a credit contract and forging a signature were criminal offenses, after all.

Ye Yanni was even more anxious, grabbing her husband and frantically saying, ”Husband, how could you do something like this?”

Wang Dongyang was on the verge of tears, ”I didn’t, I haven’t done anything.”

”You still won’t admit it!”

Liu Zejiang righteously thundered, ”Guards, seize this swindler and call the police immediately, arrest him!”

”Yes, sir!”

Several security guards had already noticed the commotion and at Liu Zejiang’s command, they rushed over and restrained Wang Dongyang.

The Ye Family members were terrified.

Wang Dongyang was beside himself with panic, shouting desperately, ”Not me, it really wasn’t me, it was Jiang Chen, he got this contract, it has nothing to do with me!”

The Ye Family members were dumbfounded upon hearing this. What, it was Jiang Chen who did it?

Everyone stared at Wang Dongyang in shock.

Wang Dongyang, casting aside all his reservations, blurted out the truth, ”Yes, it was him, he did it. I saw with my own eyes when he entered and placed the contract on the shoe cabinet. Later, I just picked it up. You said I did it, so I didn’t refute, just accepted the blame.”

Pfft—

The Ye Family members were all but spitting in response. They wished they could spit right in Wang Dongyang’s face.

What a character you were at home, boasting as if you had done a grand deed, hijacking the credit with such gusto.

And now it turns out, you didn’t do any of it.

Ye Jingyi felt dizzy, realizing she had wrongly accused Jiang Chen, that it was indeed he who had obtained the contract.

However, Ye Yanni suddenly screamed out, ”Ah, if it’s not my husband who did it, that’s great. It’s that swindler Jiang Chen who made the fake contract and imitated President Zhu’s signature! Manager Liu, hurry and call the police to catch him.”

The other Ye Family members looked at Liu Zejiang expectantly, all hoping that Liu Zejiang would call the police. They wanted the swindler Jiang Chen to be sent to jail immediately.

”Oh dear.”

At that moment, however, Liu Zejiang suddenly slapped his forehead, ”Tsk, tsk, look at my memory, now I remember, this contract was indeed the one I got from President Zhu to give to Jiang Chen. Look at me, I’m getting old, can’t seem to remember anything anymore.”

Pfft—

The Ye Family members were incredulous once again.

Are you kidding us? A contract that you brought yourself, and you forgot? You did it on purpose!

Wang Dongyang felt like an utter fool, looking at Liu Zejiang with eyes as mournful as Dou E’s: Manager Liu, you set me up!

Liu Zejiang, however, showed not a trace of guilt, standing tall and proud as he declared, ”However, what I said just now was all true, the head office has tightened credit, indeed we can’t issue any loans.”

Then, with a wave of his hand, he ordered, ”Guards, please escort these people out of the bank, I’m busy here.”

After saying this, Liu Zejiang turned and returned to his office with a swagger, contract in hand.

The Ye Family members, meanwhile, were politely shown out of the bank, all looking bewildered as could be, turning to each other in confusion.

”Smack—”

Suddenly, Zhou Ru slapped Wang Dongyang across the face, huffed disdainfully, and turned on her heel to leave.

Ye Jianxiong also glared fiercely at Wang Dongyang and followed his wife.

Ye Jingyi, both amused and annoyed, shook her head and left as well.

Only Ye Yanni remained.

Wang Dongyang looked at his wife pitifully, ”Wife, I... ow!”

Before he could finish speaking, Ye Yanni raised her hand and slapped him, cutting him off mid-sentence.

”You’ve completely embarrassed me today, go home and kneel on the keyboard,” she said.

Afterwards, she grabbed Wang Dongyang by the ear and dragged him away.
