Epic Of Caterpillar

Chapter 2900 - 2901: Amatsu-Mikaboshi

-----

”I have to help. I canʼt hesitate...”

Frank stepped forward after seeing everyone struggling on so many fronts. He rushed ahead without another thought.

Izanami poured out of the gate to the Netherworld like an endless sea of shadows and miasma.

Amaterasuʼs light bathed her, burning away at the darkness.

But the sheer volume of curses and shadows overwhelmed even her radiance. The darkness surged beyond what Amaterasuʼs light could consume.

The difference in power between Amaterasu and the monstrous goddess of creation—who died giving birth and was never retrieved by her husband—became painfully clear.

”YOUUUU! DAUGHTER OF THAT MAN...! BRING HIM TO ME! BRING ME MY HUSBAND! BRING ME IZANAGI!”

Izanami screamed in a monstrous voice, her form twisting into a colossal mass of countless souls, curses, and yokai that rose into the Heavenly Domain.

Her darkness weakened Amaterasuʼs divinity, spreading like a cancer through the light.

Hundreds of Kami descended to stop her. Tsukuyomi summoned the power of the moon, unleashing dozens of moon-mirror attacks.

”Our father is long gone, you foolish woman!” Amaterasu let a single tear fall as she gritted her teeth and began to draw on her true power. ”Not long after he created us, after he failed to retrieve you from the Netherworld, he was murdered!”

”...?!”

For a moment, Izanamiʼs countless screaming faces fell silent. Her assault paused, as though she were struggling to process the words.

”THEN WHY... WHY HASNʼT HE APPEARED...! IN THE NETHERWORLD, TO SEE ME?!”

Her madness surged even fiercer than before.

The gate to the Netherworld was being forced wider by Ryo and Amiphossia. The siblings barely had time to greet each other before they were thrust into this nightmare.

”Because his body and soul were destroyed by Amatsu-Mikaboshi! The very man you serve in the Netherworld, Izanami!”

A roaring voice thundered as a giant made of stone descended. He crushed her body with all his might and began pushing her back alongside Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi.

”A-Amatsu-Mikaboshi-sama?! N-No…! He would never...! He is my beloved...! My beloved master would NEVER!!!”

Amatsu-Mikaboshi, the Deity of Chaos and the Cosmos in Shinto myth. Long ago, Izanagi had been forced to slay him when he tried to devour all of Japan and reshape it into his own domain.

After his defeat, he was sealed deep within the Netherworld. There, one day, Izanami fell and found him, comforted by him as she wept eternally for her lost husband.

He was also known by his title: ”The Heavenly Star of Darkness”!

”Ame-no-Mikaboshi?!” Ryo exclaimed. ”One of the Primordial Gods born from the Heavenly Domain of Japan long ago...! Even before Izanami and Izanagi, the Creation Gods?”

”Why is that ancient deity being brought up? It has zero relevance right now!” Amiphossia snapped, fuming.

”Oh, do I?”

”...?!”

”...!!!”

In that instant, Ryo and Amiphossia heard a tenebrous voice—ancient and dark, yet strangely handsome, young, and almost seductive, especially to women.

From the depths of the dark gate to the Netherworld, a figure slowly rose. Millions of ghosts and yokai formed a bridge beneath him.

”MIKABOSHI-SAMAAAAA!”

Izanami screamed in joy as Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, Kireina, and the rest of the gods relentlessly pushed her back. Even her monstrous form began to falter.

In answer to her cry, he spoke.

”I am here, my dear.”

A tall, slender, handsome man emerged. Pale white skin, long dark purple hair, red eyes, and spiraling black horns crowned his head.

”Mikaboshi-sama...! Youʼre here too!”

As Izanami cried happily, a chill ran down everyoneʼs spine at the sight of the deity who had just appeared.

With his slender hands, he held Ryo and Amiphossia by their hair. Both siblings looked badly beaten.

”Are these the pests bothering you?”

”R-Ryo...!”

”Amiphossia!!!”

Zehe and Nesiphae screamed and rushed toward him. The god laughed, hurling their children straight into their faces and sending them flying.

”Well, I have now disposed of the trash... Hm?”

Before he could finish speaking... Frank appeared.

”God of Chaos and the Cosmos. I cannot let you step any closer into the world of the living!”

”Damn brat... itʼs you again.”

As though he already knew Frank, Mikaboshi clicked his tongue. He pointed his hand forward and conjured endless chaos and cosmic stars, distorting reality itself.

But Frank answered with an endless wave of mana, cosmic energy, and mythical power surging forth.

The same primordial mythical force that forged Heavenly Domains, Frankʼs true power.

During his training with Wasp, he had discovered this ancient essence within his own soul.

This force allowed him to summon endless mythical and legendary treasures.

”I am the forge of forgotten gods, the echo of every warriorʼs last breath.”

”From the obsidian clubs of the underworld to the celestial bows of the skyborn, I summon the legacy of battle itself.”

Space warped. Hundreds, then thousands, of weapons materialized.

”My soul is a vault of vengeance. My will, the architect of annihilation. Come forth, Eternal Arsenal, let the Pantheon of Steel awaken!”

Frank fully unleashed his Heart Manifestation.

Mikaboshi stared in awe as his Chaotic Cosmos Divinity was pierced and impaled by hundreds of thousands of mythical weapons.

”...?!”

He clicked his tongue again, gritting his teeth and stepping back while desperately defending against Frankʼs relentless barrage.

Izanami, struggling under the combined assault, saw the scene and panicked.

”Mikaboshi-sama!”

As she tried to reach him, Amaterasu seized the moment. She manifested dozens of gigantic suns and bombarded Izanami with countless explosions.

”GRAAAAHHHH!”

Izanami screamed in agony. Her body rapidly distorted and grew larger as countless ghosts and yokai reformed her, only to make her even more grotesque.

”Frank can handle him for now! Concentrate on stopping Izanami, everyone!”

Kireina swung her sword and unleashed her most powerful techniques in rapid succession: Eclipse, Gardens, and Nine Heavens. Thousands of demonic body parts and swarms of golden insects assaulted Izanamiʼs entire form.

The skies trembled. Clouds and thunder gathered around her, amplifying her speed and power. Each strike devastated Izanamiʼs monstrous body.

At the same time, one of her Heart Avatars descended to check on her children.

Amiphossia and Ryo were alive, though badly beaten.

Because they were Kireinaʼs children, they possessed a natural near-immunity to the Chaos Element.

That was likely why Mikaboshi had been unable to kill them outright and had simply thrown them aside.

Zehe and Nesiphae were already tending to their wounds, desperately healing them.

”How are they doing?” Kireina asked.

”Theyʼre badly wounded...!” Zehe replied. ”But my boy is strong—heʼll survive!”

”Amiphossia, hang in there!” Nesiphae urged.

”Step aside. Iʼve got this,” Kireina said.

She spread her palms and placed her hands over her childrenʼs foreheads.

FLAAASH!

She poured her own essence into their bodies. Their lifeforce surged back to full strength. Wounds vanished. Their power rose dramatically.

By reconnecting with her Heart, what her System had evolved into, both siblings glimpsed the truth beyond Kireinaʼs power: her connection to the Pillar of Eternal Light.

”Mom?!”

”Mom!”

Both gasped awake, fully recovered and breathing hard.

”Alright, stay right here...” Kireina instructed. ”That guy... I have to handle him myself.”

Kireina knew this mysterious god emerging from the Japanese Netherworld was not merely the God of Chaos and Cosmos.

She recognized his appearance very well. He was someone like her.

”Enough is enough, Mikaboshi...! Or should I say, Demon King of Terra?”

Kireina roared as she clashed against him, supporting Frank who was slowly being overwhelmed by Mikaboshiʼs potent magic.

Her sword unleashed thousands of attacks. Countless jaws erupted from her Aura, biting and devouring his strikes while forcing the god back toward the gate he had emerged from.

”Hahaha...! HAHAHAHAHA!”

He laughed upon hearing that title. Everyone on the battlefield stared in disbelief.

Suddenly, butterfly-like wings sprouted from his back. Half of Mikaboshiʼs body twisted and distorted into a being of pure chaos and dark starlight.

”I am surprised you knew who I was, seeing how brief our meeting was before, my dear Kireina!”

Once exposed by his true name, Mikaboshi only grew stronger. He unleashed all the restrained power he had accumulated in his original world—and here.

”Wait, itʼs him?!” Frank remembered his dreams from when he was on Terra with Kireina.

In that world, an evil Demon King had ruled over the demons invading the planet. He was the ultimate foe they fought, only to watch him flee through a dimensional crack.

They had not seen him again since.

Until now.

”I am glad you remember me too, Frank!” he laughed. ”Itʼs time to finally get started!”

He spread his arms wide. The Netherworld continued its attempt to merge with the world of the living.

Beyond the darkness of the gate, Kireina saw an endlessly spiraling labyrinth.

”I hereby invite all of you to my Labyrinth of Madness! Hahaha! HAHAHAHAHA!”

As he laughed, the Labyrinth swallowed everything.
