Reborn As Noble

Chapter 1189: The Shattered Relic ( 1189 )

While continuing to walk through the hallway, Javier noticed something.

The Mathrias guards who had been pinned by his knights and his gravity skill earlier were now lying unconscious.

Hmm? Weird...

And he felt it.

Ah... looks like it wasn’t my skill that made those dumbasses run away, huh?

Javier swallowed hard after using his skill to sense the lingering magic in the air. His body suddenly shivered.

It’s my mother’s skill.

Crap... just a small trace of her power, and I can feel this shiver running down my spine.

Javier exhaled, trying his best to calm himself.

”Expansion... cancel.”

He canceled both the expansion and gravity skills instantly.

Well... I guess it’s time to focus on the important matter.

He arrived in front of the door to Gracelle’s room and paused, both hands still in his pockets, glancing down at the eight Mathrias guards lying unconscious on the floor. He leaned forward and looked at them, noticing a shattered curse relic scattered on the floor like broken glass.

He crouched and rubbed his chin while looking at the fragments.

Hmm... I wonder if this thing should be collected and analyzed.

He slowly stood up and mumbled.

”Shadow Leader?”

The Shadow Leader materialized slowly from the shadows, stepping forward, placing his fist on his left chest, and bowing slightly, his smirk hidden under his full-face mask. ”Yes, Your Highness?”

”That curse thing...” Javier pointed with his lips toward the shattered relic on the floor, glancing at the Shadow Leader standing behind him. ”Consult Father, Mother, or Alf about whether we should collect it for analysis or destroy it completely. Follow their orders.”

He paused for a moment and glanced around before continuing.

”If the order is to destroy it, do it properly and ensure it’s handled carefully. We don’t want any risk of contamination or danger to our personnel.”

”As you command, Your Highness.” The Shadow Leader nodded.

”Ah...” Javier turned and glanced at him. ”By the way, isn’t the Shadow Leader Assistant with you?”

”He is indeed with us, Your Highness. Is there anything you need him for?”

Javier smiled faintly. ”Ah, not really. Just asking.” He looked at the Mathrias guards on the floor. Just as he was about to continue, the double door opened, and Garak and Marcor aimed their guns toward them.

The moment both of them saw Javier and the man in special tactical gear with a full-face mask, they stood straight, dropped their guns on the floor, and bowed hastily.

”We apologize for pointing our weapons at you, Your Highness!”

Javier smirked and shook his head. He glanced toward the Shadow Leader. ”You can continue with your task.”

”As you command, Your Highness.” The Shadow Leader placed his fist over his left chest again, bowed, and slowly turned invisible once more.

Javier shook his head and exhaled.

This Shadow Leader really can hide his mana trace completely. If it weren’t for my tracing skill being at max, I wouldn’t be able to detect him at all. He’s really different from the Shadow Leader’s assistant, huh? No wonder the assistant says he’s still far from his master. And this guy serves loyally and only answers to Father.

He turned toward Marcor and Garak, who were still bowing.

”Garak, Marcor.”

”Yes, Your Highness!!”

”A special unit shouldn’t drop their weapon on the ground.” He teased them subtly.

Garak and Marcor rushed to pick up their mana guns, securing them at their sides, and stood straight, sweat forming on their foreheads.

Javier let out a soft laugh and glanced at them.

”Good job protecting the patient.”

”It’s an honor, Your Highness. We were just doing our duty,”

”Mm, good. After the patient is moved to the portable room outside, you two should regroup with the others at the new temporary location.”

”As you command, Your Highness.” Marcor and Garak stood straight, placed their fists over their left chests, and bowed.

Javier stood casually and activated his skill.

”Purify.”

A soft, radiant light spread through the hallway, cleansing the air and surfaces of any lingering impurities or traces of dark magic.

He glanced at Myra, who walked slowly toward him and bowed gracefully.

”Your Highness.”

”Mm.” Javier nodded, clasping both hands behind his back. ”We’re going to start the operation soon. I hope you’re ready.”

”As you command, Your Highness.”

....

Moment before Javier arrived at Gracelle room.

One of the maids holding the curse relic noticed fast footsteps rushing down the hallway toward them.

She glanced at her partner.

”Ready your weapon.” She hissed.

Her partner drew her blade and narrowed her eyes.

They saw their leader and several personnel rushing toward them in panic.

”Sorana, Vendosa!”

”Leader!” The two maids’ eyes widened as they saw their leader and the others rushing toward them.

”Let’s leave now!” The leader, dressed in a butler outfit, glared at them in panic.

Both of them glanced at each other and asked.

”Why? We’re in control right now, aren’t we? The other summoners are doing their job. We’ll be able to complete the mission soon,” Sorana explained.

”I don’t have time to explain! But we all need to leave now before...”

Vendosa was about to ask for more details but noticed the butler’s eyes widening in panic.

”Faster! I can feel a dangerous skill approaching...” Just as he was about to continue, a sudden pulse of light passed through them, and the curse relic began glowing dangerously.

”Throw it on the floor now!” The leader shouted and ran, leaving the maids behind. ”Just run!!!”

The maids threw the relic onto the floor and both began running, following their leader toward the backdoor. The moment the relic tumbled onto the floor, it glowed intensely before shattering into countless dark, shimmering fragments, scattering across the hallway.

Vendosa’s eyes widened as she saw the relic explode into pieces.

”Leader! What’s happening!”

”The Armand forces have already secured Lord Rolland and Lady Sylvia even before we could do anything! And those Knights in White armor suddenly appeared out of nowhere, surrounding them. They were too strong for me to handle. I couldn’t even scratch their armor with my new dark blade!”

”What?”

They reached the backyard and saw two of their summoners impaled by light crystals that had erupted from the ground, lifting their bodies into the air before they fell limp. The rift they had opened was forced shut in an instant as a second pulse of light struck the portal, causing all the summoned creatures to vanish.

The leader activated his skill. ”Speed up!”

He leaped toward the wall and kept running.

Vendosa, Sorana, and the other personnel followed their leader, rushing desperately.

”Leader!!! What should we do now!?”

”We leave this town immediately! Retreat to the next town before heading to the border! We’ll use the forest route to avoid detection!”

They reached a stable where two of their personnel were sitting, guarding their horses.

One of them widened his eyes. ”Leader?”

The other chuckled mockingly. ”Finally! After years, you’re just coming now, Leader? What’s the news? More money? A new job?”

”Grab your horses and leave this place now!”
