Chapter 197: Flesh Barrier

Five hourglasses later.

There were seventy-three Dark Sorcerers with arbitrary forms gathered above ground, three of them were Level 2 Sorcerers, none of them had an Honor Badge.

If they were all Bright Sorcerers, they would have already formed three small teams with the three Level 2 Sorcerers as their leaders, but to a Dark Sorcerer, seventy-three people meant seventy-three teams.

Victor took out a metal ball from his shirt, after it released an energy wave, it started to float in the air.

This was a mechanical armor core that was made by a modern sorcerer. After the mechanical armor core vibrated, it disintegrated into numerous metal threads, and in a few moments it had already completely covered Victor, it fitted him perfectly.

Grimm created a Sorcerer Barrier, three Flame Bats surged out from his use of Magic Power and surrounded him as they flew about unevenly, he looked around and saw the other Demon-Hunter Sorcerers that were ready to move out. The Demon-Hunter Sorcerers rose to the air one by one and rushed into the vents that were a few hundred meters wide on the Camphoragate, one black blur of shadow was followed by another one as they rushed into the vents, heading into its depths.

After a short while, a wide and empty underground courtyard appeared, the ground was packed with a layer of flesh barriers, there were holes connecting to each other in every direction in a distance.

What entered their view were flesh barriers which were constantly squirming and glowing in a flaming red light, the air was damp and warm, there were sounds of water flowing, metal hitting sounds and the Amonros’ disarrayed roars coming from inside the tree holes.

The Demon-Hunter Sorcerers descended in order as they hovered in the air, making sure they were not stepping on the surface of the squirming flesh barrier.

Prick!

Victor, who was beside Grimm, used his metal tail to stab viciously, creating a wound on the surface of the flesh barrier, green fluid immediately gushed out, and a rotten smell rose into the air, it seemed to contain quite a dense amount of fire elemental energy.

Victor collected some green liquid dripping from his metal tail, and stuck a metal needle on his finger into the liquid inside the test tube, after that he said in a low voice, “The fire elemental energy level here is about zero point seventy five percent, with a life energy of zero point three percent, it’s not a bad experiment material for sorcerer-apprentices, but it’s a little lacking for sorcerers.”

In a short while, the place where the flesh barrier was gushing green liquid had fully closed up.

Grimm, on the other hand, grabbed a black insect from the gaps of the squirming flesh barrier. The insect’s body was full of white spots, and it was a little plump, it seemed like it did not have any abilities, only the straw-like features on its head had evolved greatly, whereas its limbs had regressed into almost nothing.

Hiss…

Grimm drew a sharp breath in surprise, he was in disbelief, once again he pulled out another insect from the gaps, as he wanted to confirm something, he excitedly stuffed the fat insect into his mouth under the mask and green liquid dripped down as he chewed.

After a moment, Grimm mumbled in excitement, “I can’t believe these contain Vitana, a lot of rare high class food materials have this nutrient.”

Vitana was known as one of the rare nutrients in some high class food materials.

In Grimm’s chain of thought right now, the food that he had just ingested was compliant to the rules of the biological chain and matching with the knowledge of sorcerer gourmets. If there were no suitable food for consumption, Grimm would rather choose not to consume anything.

Clearly, Grimm had completely forgotten the oath he had made two hundred years ago in his first sorcerer fundamental class about not tasting any insects.

Young humans were always ignorant, resulting in this inexplicable feeling of ridicule and denial when they themselves looked back at their young and immature years. As such, they chose to slowly forget about all their past doings.

Due to a different way of evolution, mechanical sorcerers were mostly not interested in gourmets, as Victor looked at Grimm who was savouring these low-level beings, at the wide courtyard and at the dispersing sorcerers, he said to Grimm, “You wanna come along for the mission?”

Grimm continued on collecting insect samples, he planned to bring them back to the world shard to breed them as future snacks. According to gourmet knowledge, regular consumption of Vitana can increase the sensitivity of cells on the sorcerer’s body surface, it counted as indirectly upgrading their perception ability, so he replied lightly, “I need to collect some of these as samples, you can leave first.”

The underground entrance had a few hundred holes from every direction on the courtyard, it was a lot like an underground maze.

“Okay.”

Victor agreed, and without paying any attention to Grimm, he flew towards the underground hole.

In the blink of an eye there were only three Demon-Hunter Sorcerers left in the wide space, one of them was Grimm collecting insect samples, one sorcerer was creating a mini altar, it seemed like a guiding coordinate for some sort of near-distance Teleportation Spell, another sorcerer had summoned a five-meter tall tree person which had its roots dug into the flesh barrier.

Each sorcerer was doing their own thing, no one was concerned about anyone else.

The Demon-Hunter Sorcerer that was making a mini altar was first to finish what he was doing, he glanced at Grimm and the other sorcerer, and then turned and flew into one of the holes. On the other hand, Grimm had finished collecting a handful of insects, the space distorted and he called the Little Myna out.

“Caw, the mighty young master Grimm, where is this?” Myna had gotten used to checking the area around it as its first reaction. As it did not receive any message for combat, it then asked Grimm about the location and details.

“The Camphoragate underground castle.” He answered simply, Grimm then pointed to the exit above and said, “Help me to fix an origin point at the exit, you were not bad last time.”

Not bad?

The Myna flew excitedly and laughed out loud, “Not bad? Was it really not bad? Not bad there? Caw caw caw, it was okay, it was okay. Since it was not bad, about the reward…”

“I’ll get to it when we get back.”

Grimm shamelessly brushed him off, and without looking back he headed into a hole that no other sorcerers had entered.

The diameter of this hole was smaller, only a few ten meters wide, the flesh barrier around it was expanding and contracting constantly, Grimm felt annoyed, he kept imagining that he was walking inside the intestines of some sort of living thing.

The same view that he was getting tired of continued on for a while, the tunnel space was starting to stretch, and then a piece of rock appeared, no flesh barrier covered the area.

Grimm was surprised, there was a burrow behind the rock, it seemed like it was formed naturally.

He stopped, and a crisp ‘ting’ sounded, a ripple flashed on the Sorcerer Barrier under him as he was about to fly into the rock tunnel to investigate, an Amonro’s long golden tail extended from the flesh barriers, as if to ambush him.

Of course, even though Grimm was only maintaining a protective Sorcerer Barrier of 300 degrees, it could never be destroyed by low-level beings. However, this kind of sudden attack still took Grimm by surprise, even though the attack just now hit Grimm’s Sorcerer Barrier, he was not aware of it.

It seemed like this Golden Amonro had diffused itself into the flesh barrier.

The golden tail had thick joints, seeing that the one attack was not successful, several Golden Amonros appeared from the flesh barrier, they glared viciously at Grimm and rushed to attack him, these were Amonros from the inner area of the Camphoragate underground, each and every one of them had their powers strengthened.

These low-level beings had set up a trap and surrounded him, yet Grimm did not notice anything unusual.

Using the Mystic Eye to quickly scan the area, he was able to confirm that the ones attacking him were only low-level beings, Grimm let out a sigh of relief. Even though the Amonros became much stronger due to the environment, to an official sorcerer like Grimm, it was just a small inconvenience, the difference between the levels would not create much of a threat.

As such, Grimm activated the three Flame Bats beside him as they flared out, and he himself flew into the rock tunnel with a strong pull.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The three Flame Bat spells exploded, the sea of flame spread onto these low-ranked Amonros while Grimm’s Repulsive Force pushed the Amonros aside.

However the Amonros submerged back into the flesh barrier, be it the sea of flame or the Repulsive Force, no harm was done to them, instead most of the Amonros once again came out of the flesh barrier becoming even more aggressive, and squeezed their way towards the rock tunnel.

After a few moments.

A dark red light beam blasted from the rock tunnel, it caused a thundering explosion, the roaring Amonro herds fell into immediate silence. The flame from the rock tunnel pushed a few Amonros’ corpses out and onto the ground, blood was gushing out from them.

Inside the rock tunnel, Grimm faintly felt the Amonros’ increasing levels of despair, and he looked back, staring at the naturally formed lake and the crystal cones above his head as they glittered.

Splash…

A translucent crystal tortoise appeared from the lake, the turtle shell was a meter large, its human-like eyes stared at Grimm, full of surprise and amazement, yet there was no sign of terror.

Grimm, who was used to being stared at with hatred and terror by other worlds’ low-level living beings, looked back at this low-level being that was so calm, he could not help but feel astonished.
