A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 191: The Despair of Amonro VI

Numerous Dark Sorcerers gathered around and split all the rewards in the blink of an eye.

With no questions asked, and no doubts whatsoever.

Among the two Level 2 sorcerers, the purple thunder sorcerer directly stored the remains of the giant flower bud which did not get shifted. On the other hand, the storm sorcerer who arrived later claimed the living flesh of seven giant beetles as his own, followed by a sorcerer with a Rank 3 Honor Badge who took the living flesh of around seven Neon Green Amonros.

The crowd of low-level Demon Hunters had to plunder and fight for the remaining resources.

Grimm got a hold of the living flesh from the carcass of a Neon Green Amonro and a small bottle of Demonic Blood Moss specimen, as well as seven to eight Enigmatic Stones.

The Enigmatic Stone was a type of round and grey stone, it contained Enigmatic Energy, a form of energy that was born under the influence of the rules of the Shadow World. Overall, the Enigmatic Stone was similar to the Magic Stone.

After storing the rewards, Grimm and Millie put away their severely depleted element activation sorcery and fought side by side. With feelings of envy and admiration, they watched the other Demon-Hunters leave one by one with their rewards.

Demon-Hunters with Honor Badges did get to enjoy many perks indeed!

Honor Badges were awarded to Demon-Hunters who made huge contributions during foreign world conquests. Even owning the lowest Rank 3 Honor Badge would mean the Demon-Hunter must have changed the situation of the war at some point, which not only saved the Demon-Hunter army from great losses, but also turned the tide of the war.

For instance, if Grimm were able to destroy the strategic weapons of the last two remaining Enigmatic Castles, he would get a Rank 3 Honor Badge imprinted on his soul upon his return to the Holy Tower of Seven Rings.

Other than this, there was another way to get an Honor Badge, which was to kill the World Guardian and accumulate Sorcerer Will.

Having an Honor Badge would not only promote the dominant status of a Demon-Hunter during a foreign world conquest, it would even enhance the protection given by the Sorcerer Will from the Sorcerer World, as well as condense the defense level of the Sorcerer Barrier.

Taking the example of the sorcerer with a Rank 3 Honor Badge earlier, the sorcerer was able to gain much more attractive rewards than low-level sorcerers like Grimm.

For these reasons, Grimm could not help but desire the Honor Badge.

“Grimm, since we have already accomplished the first mission of destroying the railgun trail, let’s take back the soul seed that we placed on the soul slaves. I’m afraid the soul seeds will fade away as time passes,” said Millie to Grimm.

Glenn nodded.

“Yeah, the carcass of our soul slaves fell down at around the same area. Plus, that area is the Space Fortress ground and the front line of the Amonro army. Most of the Amonros’ defense mechanism there had been destroyed by the Bright Demon-Hunter army and another earlier batch of Dark Sorcerers. I think it shouldn’t be too troublesome,” Grimm replied.

After a while, Grimm and Millie parted ways.

Each step taken by Grimm would bring him four to five meters closer to his destination. Holding the magic staff in his hand, Grimm walked swiftly on the ground, heading towards the direction of his soul seed based on his senses.

From time to time, huge craters would appear on the ground around Grimm. They were elemental craters left by Dark Sorcerers when they landed from the sky. Each crater was seen with massive numbers of low-level Amonro carcasses.

On the barren ground, dead bodies were lying everywhere. The ground was running with blood after the massacre. Sounds of the howling wind made it seem like the world was weeping. The bizarre Amonro buildings made of flesh were either burning, completely destroyed and swept away, or leaning towards one side. Traces of blood and destruction were left everywhere.

From the viewpoint of these low-level Amonros, this was exactly the end of the world. A troop of foreign race was destroying their peaceful and beautiful world.

Boom! Boom!

On his way, Grimm noticed two low-level Amonros hiding from him. He cast an attack towards the Amonros with one hand and they disappeared into thin air.

Grimm continued to make his way through the barren land, passing areas with thick smoke and toxic gas. Killing low-level Amonros along the way did not slow him down.

‘Hmm?’

Suddenly, Grimm sensed a group of low-level Amonros fleeing for their lives towards his direction. There were about more than thousands of Amonros, all of them were Golden Amonros without flying abilities.

Grimm lifted his head and noticed that a Demon-Hunter was chasing the Amonros from far away. The sorcerer was standing on the head of a more than thirty-meter-long giant water element python.

Grimm stopped and waved his magic staff. Six burning red fireballs appeared on the top of the magic staff. The fireballs were about the size of a fist, they were moving just like a bunch of kids who were playing around. Grimm waved his magic staff and blasted all six fireballs towards the Amonros and the fire spread quickly.

“Mwahahaha!”

The sorcerer let out an evil laugh from far away.

When the sorcerer on the giant water element python saw that his prey were blocked by Grimm, he blasted a huge amount of water element arrows. The Amonros who had naturally low resistance towards water element attacks were hurt and killed in a series of howls and cries.

After a moment, Grimm joined hands with the stranger Dark Sorcerer and killed almost all of the thousand heads of low-level Amonros. Only a few of them were able to escape.

The two of them exchanged a few words out of courtesy and left towards different directions. Grimm collected quite a lot of Despair from that battle.

Currently, the Shadow World had been destroyed extensively by the Dark Sorcerers. The scattered low-level Amonros were killed by sorcerers for the purpose of collecting Despair. Their number was getting less and less as time passed went on.

Obviously the spot where the dead body of the five Ghouls fell was right in the middle of the battle between the sorcerer’s soul slaves and the Amonro’s army. Grimm continued his journey towards that direction. The Bright Sorcerer army looked just like a ferocious giant shark in the sky, swallowing the countless little fish around it.

If the situation persisted, perhaps it would not take too long until the Amonro army completely collapsed. They were merely relying on their large numbers to delay their defeat.

The number of elemental craters on the ground formed by the Demon-Hunters increased as Grimm travelled closer to the centre of the battlefield. At the same time, there were more and more dead bodies of those low-level Amonros and the sorcerers’ soul slaves.

Grimm had no choice but to use nature force to fly across the nightmarish carpet of blood and carcasses.

‘If this round of sorcerer conquest failed and the Amonros thrived, in the future, would this area be just like the Human Will Mountain Range of the Sorcerer World in the eyes of the Amonros?’ Grimm wondered to himself.

Whether it was the Human Will Mountain Range of the Sorcerer World, or the area of the Shadow World that Grimm was looking at, they were both battlefields formed for the sake of passing down a whole race’s willpower.

‘In the distant future, would there be an old Amonro bringing a young Amonro flying across this area and explaining how the Amonros defeated the soul slaves of the evil sorcerers and won the war?’ Grimm thought to himself.

“Things like this will never happen,” Grimm shook his head and murmured to himself coldly.

Grimm was not the only one who was looking for the soul seeds of his soul slaves, there were many other Demon-Hunters who were landing from the sky and doing the same. They were interspersing among the carcasses of the low level Amonros continuously.

All the low-level Amonros had become part of the endless sea of carcasses.

The elite Dark Sorcerers who had landed first had left the sea of carcasses and proceeded to destroy other parts of the Shadow World.

From time to time, there would be soul slaves falling from the sky. The dark sorcerers wandering on the ground did not bother to look at the final struggles of these creatures.

On the contrary, if any white-skinned Enigmatic Amonro or high-level Amonro fell from the sky and happened to still be alive, the Dark Sorcerers would not mind giving a few final blows.

‘Hmm?’

A carcass of a soul slave caught Grimm’s attention.

Grimm paused and sensed the carcass of a giant eagle with his mental strength. The carcass seemed normal on the surface but he sensed something different.

After a while, Grimm’s body trembled and he was surprised.

‘This feeling…this is a living flesh body! This feeling can’t be wrong!’ Grimm blurted, excited and surprised.

When certain creatures died, their bodies had a magical ability where the tissues would devour among themselves for a certain amount of time as a form of “life extension”, which was how a living flesh body was formed.

However, it was difficult to sense which creature had this ability when they were alive, unless the sorcerers used specific methods of examination.

To Black Sorcerers and Dark Sorcerers, huge amounts of living flesh was the first criteria to breed a Chimera. Living flesh was traded using Sorcerer Essences.

Surprised and delighted, Grimm summoned the Myna with a finger. His excited gaze could be seen under the Mask of Truth. “Help me to open a wider dimensional gap and stuff this big fellow inside,” ordered Grimm.

For a sorcerer like Grimm who was only around two hundred years old, opening a ten-meter long dimensional gap, even just for a little while, could be quite a burden.

“Hmm? Caw caw caw! This is…well aren’t you lucky! This is such a huge chunk of living flesh! This is sufficient for an initial stage Chimera experiment,” said the Myna in excitement.

After working together with the Myna to move the giant eagle carcass into the dimensional gap, Grimm felt a little dizzy. Suddenly, he saw a sorceress covered in Demonic Blood Moss shivering on the ground.

Although she was still alive, by the looks of her Magic Power consumption and final struggle for life, she was not far away from death.
