Chapter 152: Demon-Hunters

…In the center of a Black Sea vortex…

Space was distorted. Glenn appeared on the Celestial Cordillera, along with Nairo, Yupao and two other Bright Sorcerers by his side.

Everyone seemed aged except for Nairo. Yupao looked old, with the stench of death whirling around him…

Of course, their spiritual energy was at a different level as well…

“You!”

Glenn was late. Yupao recalled the days they spent on the Celestial Cordillera when he and Nairo were completely invisible to Glenn. It was such a silent humiliation to Yupao!

What disgusted Yupao even more was that this guy received more World-Core Fragments than both himself and Nairo combined!

There was a surge in nature force. It was the ability of Yupao after he officially became a sorcerer. By channeling a small portion of his magical power, he could ignite an attack at a strength parallel to that of his apprentice’s maximum potential.

A sorcerer could always control his apprentice by using nature force.

Under his pale mask, Glenn’s eyes were scouting his surroundings. He even slipped the Friendship Key of Black Isotta into his hand.

In just a split second, a great magnitude of nature force surrounded the atmosphere. Yupao screamed in pain as his body was thrown into the air by a huge blast. The assault came from a Guardian sorceress who was sitting on a flying carpet.

Her stern eyes revealed themselves under her high-pointed hat. “I have no interest in the affairs of children who are apprentices, but now that you are Demon-Hunters things are different. How dare you breach the laws of Demon-Hunters in front of a World Guardian!”

The sorceress scoffed coldly.

She gazed upon Nairo, Glenn, and the other two Bright Demon-Hunters. “When you reach the Seventh Ring Holy Tower, report to the Guardian there. You will become Demon-Hunters of the sorcerer world.”

The group breathed sighs of relief, the sorceress continued on unabated, “After you become a Demon-Hunter, every Bright Demon-Hunter will be given compulsory missions. Before he or she can start a mission, he or she must unite at least ten Secondary and Reserve Demon-Hunters, failing to do so will forfeit his or her rights as Demon-Hunters. Dark Demon-Hunters will be given a choice between Virtuous Demon-Hunter and Secondary Demon-Hunter. Virtuous Demon-Hunters will start a long period of strict training and tough examinations, gradually becoming a Guardian. As for Subsidiary Demon-Hunters, you just need to focus on self-improvement, the rest will be up to the arrangement of the top management.”

The sorceress left after ending her speech and flew towards the depths of the Black Sea Vortex.

“Woo…”

The Black Sea Vortex shut close as Overlord Eubalaena withdrew into the Black Sea. Glenn’s party was the last batch of apprentices from the Holy Tower Peak.

One of the Bright Sorcerers carrying a scroll behind his back informed Glenn, “We reached this place earlier on and the rest of the Holy Tower’s apprentices have already left.”

Whoosh!

The other Bright Sorcerer flew to the bottom of the celestial mountain with his face aglow with the joy of his first flight as a formal sorcerer. He exclaimed, “I am going to awaken the Celestial Cordillera.”

Nairo was tied up in metallic chains, yet she was the only one who noticed the red-green avian on Glenn’s shoulder. With an eerie tone, she asked, “Is that… a Steel Emblem Myna?”

“Woo woo… Woo… Woo woo woo…”

The myna on Glenn’s shoulder stretched its wings and started to mimic the movement of humans. It looked arrogant with its head held high and chest puffed up. Its beak was bound with a thin green string so it could not speak and was only able to make “Woo woo woo” sounds.

The green string was given by Glenn’s uncle, the bird keeper.

With his inferior ability in the sealing magic, it was the first time Glenn ever cast a sealing spell after becoming a formal sorcerer. All for that foul-mouthed myna.

What Lord Ba…

What little bastard…

What old bastard…

After sealing the myna’s foul mouth, the sorcerer world was like a fresh new start for Glenn. Everything was good and beautiful.

It has been decided that from now on, all Glenn had to do was to seal up that foul myna’s mouth, and he did not have to worry anymore about sharing his body with another being!

Nevertheless, this Steel Emblem Myna meant the world to Glenn.

It was undeniable that this irritating myna has been belittling Glenn all these while. It complained about how much Glenn needed to gain in terms of energy level and memory power first before it could pass down the fundamental Dimensional Control knowledge to him. However, with that said, this myna’s performance was up to Glenn’s expectations and he was satisfied with it.

Having Steel Emblem Myna as his Prime Soul-fire slave, Glenn gained the ability of “Space-time Coordinated Access”.

The ability of Space-time Coordinated Access shortened the distance between Glenn and this Steel Emblem Myna. No matter which world they were separated into, which imaginary plane or Dimensional Gap, both of them were in truth separated only by a door.

As such, this basic ability of the Steel Emblem Myna has brought a huge advantage to this symbiotic relationship.

By using Glenn’s Soul-fire Prime flame, the Steel Emblem Myna could easily identify the location of Glenn’s body. Hence, it could perform an impressive ability of crossing over to and fro the Dimensional Gap and reality.

Unless there were creatures who have mastered the space-time seal spell or someone who can manage to do a sneak attack and kill it before it could react, this foul-mouthed myna could not possibly die as long as Glenn still breathes!

This puts Glenn at a position much stronger than Sam’s immortal body. Sam was vulnerable to all sealing spells, whereas this myna was only vulnerable to the space-time seal spell… and Glenn.

Of course, when it comes to combat, never rely on a myna…

On the other hand, Glenn could track down the myna’s Soul-fire Prime and use it as a beacon. By using his Dimensional Gap access skill, he could combine knowledge power from other higher dimensions. Using that power, he could potentially disrupt the fundamental laws and balance in the current dimension. This allowed Glenn to ignore the laws in his current dimension and break any seal spell!

The conditions were that this foul-mouthed myna must not be sealed or killed, and the seal spell had to be on par with Glenn’s capability.

If there were any unbeatable enemies, the foul-mouthed myna can slip into another dimension and Glenn could escape by porting himself to where the myna was.

The other good news was, Glenn no longer needed the one-off space pocket. He threw the previous one-off space pocket into his own dimensional gap.

***

From beneath his pale mask, Glenn glanced at Nairo. She was a sorceress who grew up in this messed up camp, that was why she could easily identify the origin of this foul-mouthed myna with just one look. Strange.

Glenn nodded, gave Nairo an indifferent expression, indicating that he was unwilling to share any details.

It did not bother Nairo at all. Instead of questioning the story of this Steel Emblem Myna, she murmured, “Such a tiny creature, talented in curses and also mysticism communication, which was the favorite of ancient sorcerers. It is rare to see one in the sorcerer’s world now.”

Nairo ignored Glenn, retracted her head into the chain ball and flew right towards the tower on the great peak. Her voice could be heard from afar, “Now you can try to take the great peak from my hands!”

Glenn was not affected by Nairo’s mockery.

“Woo… Woo woo… Woo woo woo… ”

The Steel Emblem Myna furiously hit Glenn with its wings and scratched Glenn’s armor with two little claws. It wanted to speak yet the Seal of the green thread could only allow it to make such unintelligible sounds.

Glenn moved his head, facing the Steel Emblem Myna with his pale mask.

The Steel Emblem Myna’s ferocious attack was like scratching an itch for Glenn, yet it was the only way this foul-mouthed myna could express its retaliation. Its eyes were filled with tears of frustration, anger, and sorrow. A never-ending objection.

After a brief thought, Glenn released the foul-mouthed myna from the seal spell of the green thread.

“You little bastard sorcerer, how dare you do this to your Lord Ba… Woo….” The Steel Emblem Myna’s mouth was shut once more with the seal before it could finish its sentence. Glenn no longer paid any attention to that little guy on his shoulder.

The only reason Glenn could cast a sealing spell successfully on its beak was because Glenn could easily summon it back by just thinking about it. It may be true that it has the ability to escape to the Dimensional Gap, but it was powerless against Glenn.

No matter where or how it flew, to the border of the endless world, to the center of worlds, to the endless imaginary plan, or even the dimensional gap, one thought from Glenn and it would appear right beside Glenn. He did not even need to use the Soul-fire Master and Slave ability to command it.

Bad luck hit this myna hard. There was nowhere to run from Glenn…

The only person left besides Glenn was the scroll-carrying Bright Sorcerer. He was surprised by the behavior of that myna on Glenn’s shoulder. How could it talk back to its master in such a harsh way?

Normally, sorcerers would not simply release their Soul-fire Prime. It would be impossible for such a “rebellious” creature to become a Soul-fire Prime slave.

If it was not a Soul-fire Prime slave, a sorcerer would only lose a fragment of his soul if any of his Soul Slaves died. Usually, they would sacrifice a fragment rather than have a slave mock them.

The Bright Sorcerer’s puzzled and shocked expression caught the attention of the Steel Emblem Myna. It slowly turned its head to look back at him.

It was an awkward moment for the Bright Sorcerer as the myna’s eyes were filled with seemingly humane expressions. Was he being “disrespectful” looking at it in such a manner?

“Err…”

Words were about to come out from the Bright Sorcerer’s mouth to save himself from the awkward situation, but why did the Steel Emblem Myna turn its back against him?

Thud!

While this Bright Sorcerer was still puzzled by its movement, a stream of bird droppings gushed out from the Steel Emblem Myna’s tail. It breached through the Bright Sorcerer’s Defense Spell and passive water shield, staining his body with bird droppings.

A strong stench of bird droppings filled the air.

“Woo woo, woo woo woo, woo woo woo woo…”

The Steel Emblem Myna turned to face the Bright Sorcerer. With one wing on his waist and the other pointing at the sorcerer, it laughed hysterically. It wanted to say something but all it did was emit unintelligible sounds.

“Hmmph!”

Glenn knew what this foul-mouthed myna wanted to say, “Ha-ha, little bastard, taste your Lord Ba’s Curse of Bird Droppings!”

Glenn had first-hand experience with this fellow’s curse of bird droppings. It ignored all defenses and planted a mark on its target. Usually, it would not have any odor so the creatures could not detect that mark, yet it was a smell that was unacceptably strong for Glenn’s Demon-Hunter nose!

Flashbacks of the past resulted in Glenn giving the myna a slap.

“OH!”

The Steel Emblem Myna extended its wings to escape Glenn’s punishment. It was gone in a flash, yet Glenn still swung towards that direction unfaltered.

The Steel Emblem Myna managed to fly more than ten meters away. In just a brief moment, all it took was just a mere thought on the part of Glenn and it reappeared on his shoulder taking the intended hit. Tears streamed out from its eyes immediately. It glared at Glenn, frustrated, anguished, yet utterly helpless.

With the ability of Space-time Coordinated Access, there was no way for this myna to escape from Glenn’s grasp.

“Err… You don’t have to be mad. The droppings from this myna are incredible. They are not only green, but they also have nature force and power of mysticism yes?” the Bright Sorcerer was amazed by the droppings all over him. He opened his huge scroll and started to scribble away.

Both Glenn and the Steel Emblem Myna were stunned by his reaction. While they were busy doing that, the Bright Sorcerer dabbed at the droppings on his body with his finger and proceeded to lick it. He was excited.

“Hmmm? It tastes like Chinese Holly fruit, no wonder it has the power of nature in it…

“Woo woo, woo woo woo woo woo!”

The Steel Emblem Myna pointedly looked at Glenn, shocked by what it saw.

It was an expression that seemed to say, “See, he does not mind my droppings!”

Glenn will never tell this Bright Sorcerer the reason behind the bird droppings tasting like Chinese Holly fruit. Once, he snuck a one-off space pocket into the Dimensional Gap. It was filled with Master Peranos’s favorite Chinese Holly liquor, which was all processed by this myna.

Glenn had to act like he smelled nothing since that guy could not smell anything. He bowed to the still excited Bright Sorcerer and said, “With that, adios.”

Right after that, Glenn took the Steel Emblem Myna and flew towards the three great peaks. The Myna waved goodbye to the Bright sorcerer with an excited, touched and happy look on its face.

The Bright Sorcerer packed his gigantic scroll and waved back to the myna on Glenn’s shoulder.

Farewell!

Glenn learned a lesson: the priority now was to educate this myna. It had to acknowledge him as his master and obey his words, or there would be days of turmoil ahead for both of them!
