Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Chapter 990: Chapter 248: Zhou Yu: What, You—You’re Also a Heavenly Mandate Person?!

Although Chen Jie said he was burning grain today, he actually intends to use a trick to secretly transport the grain away.

Two million piculs of grain, enough to solve the current grain shortage in Huangzhou Prefecture, and allow those who have become refugees to return to their fields and become farmers again.

Otherwise, given the current scenario of ten empty houses in Huangzhou Prefecture, even if Chen Jie could become the master of Huangzhou Prefecture, there would be no citizens, and thus no source of troops or taxes.

If all these are absent, wouldn’t Chen Jie be a commander without an army?

Therefore, Chen Jie not only has to win this battle to defend Huangzhou Prefecture but also has to ensure that all the citizens are safely sent home to continue serving him like cattle and horses.

Living in peace and working happily, providing him with troops and food!

This is what Chen Jie needs from Huangzhou Prefecture; otherwise, even if he obtains it, it would be just an empty shell, and thus meaningless.

Hence, the two million piculs of grain are too important, and Chen Jie must risk trying, because if his plan succeeds, he will truly rise to prominence, laying the foundation for imperial power.

He will win the support of the eighty thousand people of Huangzhou Prefecture and become the hero they speak of.

By then, if he wishes to rebel, with one call from the heights, the eighty thousand people of Huangzhou Prefecture would be his most steadfast supporters.

This is Chen Jie’s ultimate purpose.

Chen Jie’s final goal is to become the Emperor, so whether it’s expanding his influence or advancing in martial arts, the end goal is to help Chen Jie become Emperor.

For this goal, Chen Jie can sacrifice a lot.

And the granary is right in front of him, Chen Jie is contemplating when suddenly he sees a group of people coming out of the granary, facing off directly with Chen Jie’s troops.

Seeing this scene, Chen Jie knows there can be no delay, when meeting on a narrow path, the brave will win; having stealthily arrived here is already a blessing from heaven, the next will be a true battle with open blades and guns.

At this moment, Chen Jie waves his hand and says, ”Go, attack!”

With his command, Zhou Chu leads several hundred guild members, shouting furiously, ”Kill, follow me to kill!”

After speaking, a group of people rushes forward directly, fighting with the granary guards fiercely, with the sound of killing shaking the sky.

...

The granary is attacked; the one left behind and responsible for guarding the granary is a trusted henchman brought by Elder Quan, also possessing Holding Core Realm strength, feeling quite resentful while sitting inside the room, all coming to Huangzhou Prefecture.

Others are on the battlefield earning military merit, leaving himself to guard the granary, when Huangzhou Prefecture is attacked, each one is promoted, whereas he at most receives praise.

This truly shows that strangers have different fates; thinking this, Elder Quan’s henchman feels very upset, and can only drink alone.

Just then, there’s a commotion outside, and a moment later the door bangs open, followed by a severely injured disciple rushing in saying, ”Boss, things are bad, Huangzhou Prefecture’s soldiers have attacked the mountain!”

”What!!”

Upon hearing this, the henchman, drinking at the moment, jumps up, how could the court’s soldiers attack the mountain, this is impossible!

Now the whole Huangzhou Prefecture is still in a state of siege; he believes a couple of people might have sneaked out, but can a couple of people attack the mountain?

Thinking about it, the henchman shouts, ”Don’t panic, dammit, enemy, how many, how many are there?”

The disciple says, ”There’s few hundred wielding weapons, but behind them, crowded, looking like thousands.”

”Nonsense, Huangzhou Prefecture is surrounded like an iron bucket, where would thousands come from, you’re talking nonsense.”

”Boss, would I deceive you? They’ve, they’ve already fought their way in!”

Upon hearing this, the henchman says, ”Bring me my knife, I’ll see who dares attack my Zoroastrian Sect base!”

Upon hearing this, the henchman says, ”Boss, be careful, Chai Quan went to block them earlier and was skewered to death by their leader with a spear!”

”Hmm, skewered to death with one spear?”

The henchman is shocked; Chai Quan, another henchman left by Elder Quan, of similar strength to himself, also in Holding Core Realm, yet killed with a single spear, clearly at least a master of Wolf Smoke Realm, no, I can’t handle this.

Thinking, the henchman looks at the disciple and says, ”Are there any masters in our stronghold?”

The disciple says, ”Boss, they’ve all gone to Huangzhou Prefecture City, where would there be masters!”

”Then now, can we request help from Huangzhou Prefecture?”

The disciple says, ”That would take at least two hours.”

Upon hearing this, the henchman scrunches his brows like a Shar Pei, with a sullen face, anxious yet helpless.

After a long while, the henchman speaks, ”There’s one, remember the person Hall Master Zhong Guang brought back the other day?”

”I know, seems to be called Zhou Yu.”

The henchman says, ”Hmm, him, he broke through to Wolf Smoke Realm last night, at this critical moment, now is the time to use him. Quickly go get him to help.”

The disciple hears and says, ”That person is very arrogant, I brought him food, he said he won’t take action except for Chen Jiu Si.”

Chen Jiu Si?

Upon hearing this, the henchman furrows his brow, then speaks, ”Just tell him, Chen Jiu Si is here, if he wants revenge, it is now.”

”Ah, I don’t recognize the people who came, is it Chen Jiu Si?”

”Doesn’t matter, first trick him over and we’ll see.”

Upon hearing this, the disciple immediately says, ”Yes, Boss, I’ll go find him now.”
