Chapter 718: Chapter 203: Water Tai Sui, It’s Actually Water Tai Sui

Ao...

In the oppressively dark sky, a streak of lightning flashed, and a flood dragon soared upwards, startling the entire Mianshui County.

”Look, the floods have brought out the dragon!”

As they observed the unreal sight of the flood dragon in the sky, all of Mianshui trembled, everyone who had been keeping an eye on the happenings in Mianshui now stared in astonishment at the dragon gliding through the air!

Could there really be a flood dragon in Mianshui?

This was Chen Jie’s doubt.

At the moment, he stood atop a watchtower built by the White Tiger Hall, holding a pot of wine in his hand, with a copper pot behind him boiling with hot soup; Su Yunjin, Ruirui, Xiao Hu, and Sun Yong, those close to Chen Jie, were enjoying a hot pot meal.

Amidst their enjoyment of meat and wine, they all witnessed the flood dragon’s ascent.

The sky was filled with thick, ominous clouds, and between the clouds and the heavens, there was a sensation of a storm so intense it seemed to threaten to break the city, and in between heaven and earth, it appeared as though there genuinely was a flood dragon wandering, stirring up wind and waves.

At this moment, Ruirui, Xiao Hu, and everyone else at the table, who had been eagerly grabbing slices of mutton, all widened their eyes in shock to stare at the flood dragon between heaven and earth.

The term for floods, ”bringing out the dragon,” wasn’t meant to imply that a real flood dragon would appear, but was a way people living along the rivers described flooding, referring to it as ”the dragon’s outing.” But who could have imagined that Mianshui’s ”dragon’s outing” would actually manifest a real flood dragon in the sky?

Moreover, Chen Jie found it odd; he had been in this world for a while now, but whether dealing with Jianghu people or officials from the court, he had never heard of the existence of divine creatures like flood dragons in this world.

He was aware of typical monsters, some with combat abilities that he had encountered, but flying flood dragons like this one were new to him, and Chen Jie admitted that this far exceeded his imagination.

Logically, according to the power structure of this world, the appearance of mythical creatures like flood dragons was impossible.

Could this be something other than a mythical creature like a flood dragon, perhaps some sort of supernatural phenomenon or an illusion?

Chen Jie wondered, and turned to Xiao Hu at this moment: ”Hu Zi, how is the boat you were preparing coming along?”

Xiao Hu responded, ”Jiu Si, it’s all ready, made from the finest ironwood, reinforced with three layers, able to withstand the wind and waves. But still, venturing into these waters is dangerous.”

Chen Jie said, ”Hmm, get it ready. This phenomenon will certainly have alerted the other powers within the city, and the Commandery Princess will probably come looking for me soon.”

Hearing this, Xiao Hu said, ”Yes, Jiu Si, I’ll go prepare at once.”

Chen Jie responded, ”Hmm, thank you for your hard work, Hu Zi.”

Xiao Hu hurried downstairs, and Chen Jie turned to the worried Su Yunjin and said, ”Wife, you continue eating; I’ll go prepare.”

Su Yunjin, with a worried expression, replied, ”Husband, be careful.”

Chen Jie nodded gently and assured her, ”Relax, wife, I’ll take care of everything. Take good care of yourself at home, especially our child in your stomach, Ruirui.”

”Brother-in-law.”

At that moment, Ruirui set down the sliced mutton he had fished out of the pot and looked up at Chen Jie, who replied, ”Listen to your sister, take good care of her, understand?”

”Uh-huh, brother-in-law, don’t worry, I am very obedient. It’s just that Sun Yong is clumsy,” said Ruirui, nodding his small head like a pecking chicken, but couldn’t resist taking a jab at Sun Yong, who, upon hearing this, protested, ”I’m not...”

Chen Jie patted Sun Yong’s head and reassured him, ”Stepfather knows, keep eating.”

With that, Chen Jie left downstairs, while Su Yunjin watched her husband descending and unconsciously tightened her grip on her knee.

And Sun Yong also seemed thoughtful, wondering when he could grow up and share the burdens with his stepfather.

Meanwhile, at the Yelu Mansion, the Commandery Princess was having a meal when she suddenly saw the phenomenon outside. She immediately pushed open the doors and windows of the room with Ah Da, Ah Er, and Ah San, and then they too saw the flood dragon stretched across the sky.

The four of them were all taken aback.

”Such a massive creature, Commandery Princess, how could we ever overpower it?” asked Ah San wide-eyed.

The Commandery Princess said, ”This isn’t real.”

Hmm?

Momentarily startled, Ah San listened as the Commandery Princess continued, ”It’s just an extraordinary event in nature. There are terrifying monsters in this world, but creatures like the flood dragon don’t exist. Ah Da, notify Yelu to go to the Fishing Guild and find Chen Jiusi.”

”Yes.”

Upon hearing this, Ah Da immediately dashed out to convey the message to Yelu.

At that time, Yelu, too, was observing the flood dragon in the sky, with Qimu Ge standing beside him.

Qimu Ge looked at the roiling clouds and the flood dragon and remarked, ”I’ve heard tales of such turbulence and clouds forming into a dragon in the sky thirty years ago, I always thought they were exaggerated. Seeing it today, those tales seem conservative; this isn’t just clouds forming the shape of a dragon – it’s a real flood dragon.”

Yelu said upon hearing this, ”The Han Family’s texts state: ’Dragons arise from clouds, and tigers bring forth winds.’ With such torrential rain for ten days, the world’s colors have changed; it seems this flood dragon is attempting to transform and ascend to the heavens!”

Qimu Ge replied, ”Master, whether it transforms or not, I do not know, but with the flood dragon’s emergence, the Mianshui Treasure should have appeared, right?”

Yelu said, ”Hmm, almost.”

Thud thud...

While the two were speaking, a knocking sound came from outside, and Yelu said, ”It must be the Commandery Princess.”

Soon after opening the door, they saw Ah Da enter and say to Yelu, ”Yelu, the Commandery Princess asked me to inform you to prepare for a meeting in her room. Also, send someone to find Chen Jiusi.”

”Good, I understand,” said Yelu.

...

At that moment, in a large courtyard behind the County Government, Garrison Commander Ba Tan was also looking up at the flood dragon in the sky, with Yu Man’er and Nan Batian standing behind him.

The Garrison Commander watched the sky and said, ”With the appearance of the flood dragon, it seems the Mianshui Treasure has finally been revealed. Whether we can deliver a great gift to King Qi will depend on your performance.”
