Chapter 600: Chapter 183 Yelu: Nan Batian, you are on a path to certain death! (Beginning of the month, asking for monthly votes!)_3

Having been baptized by the alcohol culture of later times, Chen Jie had developed a special fondness for white spirits.

After drinking a few cups, Chen Jie looked at Xiao Hu and said, ”Hu Zi, have a good sleep tonight, tomorrow you need to take a trip to North Mountain.”

”North Mountain?”

Xiao Hu was startled and asked, ”It’s all been sealed off, what am I supposed to do there?”

Chen Jie said, ”It may be sealed, but it’s not sealed tight. You’re going to do something, to investigate whether Nan Batian has been tampering with anything there, oh, and take two old miners with you.”

Stupefied, Xiao Hu looked at Chen Jie and asked, ”Jiu Si, what are we doing this for?”

Chen Jie said, ”If I were Nan Batian, driven to this extent, having now placed all my bets on that batch of military equipment, I would have cheated already.”

”Cheated?”

Xiao Hu and the others all looked at Chen Jie, puzzlement written all over their faces. Chen Jie smiled and said, ”What is North Mountain known for?”

”Iron Ore Mine, right!”

Xiao Hu blurted out his answer, and the others nodded as well.

Chen Jie then looked at Xiao Hu and asked, ”What is that batch of military equipment made of?”

”Iron!!”

”Jiu Si, are you saying that Nan Batian could secretly manufacture a batch of military equipment and falsely report to Yelu that it’s the confiscated equipment of the Zoroastrian Sect?”

Having followed Chen Jie for so long, Xiao Hu had clearly grown much smarter.

Upon hearing this, the three people around them all sucked in a breath of cold air: ”Hiss, that, can’t be, right? Making military equipment in private with the intention of rebellion, has Nan Batian lost his mind, privately manufacturing military equipment?”

The three faces were filled with disbelief, but at this time Chen Jie chuckled: ”Lost his mind? I don’t think so, it’s merely his means of self-rescue!”

Hearing this, everyone fell silent.

Chen Jie said, ”When he pins all his hopes on finding that batch of military equipment, then he must find it; otherwise, he’ll lose disastrously. To keep his chips safe, he must gamble with his life to find that batch of military equipment, even if he has to fabricate it out of thin air.”

”At this stage, for Nan Batian, whether it’s you or me, anyone in his shoes would think this plan to privately manufacture military equipment is actually quite feasible. Even though it’s crazy and risky, success gives him a seat back at the gambling table; otherwise, he’ll lose everything down to his underwear!”

Si Xi said, ”But if he’s caught, the price is too great, he, he might lose his life! Yelu will never tolerate him!”

Chen Jie cracked a smile and said, ”Everyone gambles on having good luck; if he doesn’t get caught, won’t he profit enormously and smoothly overcome the crisis?”

Xiao Hu frowned and said, ”This Nan Batian is truly mad!”

Chen Jie said, ”At this stage, who isn’t walking on thin ice, who can escape the schemes of others.”

Thinking this, Chen Jie said, ”However, this time Nan Batian is really in danger because the one watching him is me.”

Xiao Hu said, ”I’ll go tonight.”

Si Xi said, ”Let’s leave it till tomorrow. I’ll find two old employees familiar with the routes in the mine to go with you.”

As they spoke, Chen Jie said, ”Hmm, I trust you guys with the task. Let it be tomorrow, but remember, Xiao Hu, you can take it slow, don’t spook the snake.”

”Don’t worry, Jiu Si, I know what to do,” Xiao Hu nodded to Chen Jie.

Chen Jie said, ”Good, in that case, let’s just sit back and enjoy the show. Today is the grandest scene in our Toppling the South plan.”

Chen Jie said so.

The three of them all started chuckling.

...

”What? Elder Liu has sealed off our dock?”

Upon hearing this news, Tang Ziyue’s heart skipped a beat, and he immediately turned to Nan Batian and said, ”Guild Leader, this is bad. Elder Liu has sealed our dock and has got his hands on our evidence, and if he takes this to Lord Yelu to charge us, what do we do?”

Nan Batian frowned slightly and said, ”So soon? I thought they’d wait until tomorrow!”

”Ah?”

Tang Ziyue looked at Nan Batian, bewildered, and Nan Batian looked back at him and said, ”Ziyue, you didn’t think that we could undertake such a big operation without anyone noticing, did you?”

Tang Ziyue said, ”Then what will you do, Guild Leader?”

”Haven’t I already said? I want to make money, and as for how to deal with it, I’ve got it all planned out.”

As he spoke, Nan Batian said, ”Alright, Ziyue, tidy up and come with me to Yelu Mansion in a while.”

Before long, indeed, representatives from Yelu Mansion arrived. At that moment, Qimu Ge, with a long saber in hand, came to the Fishing Guild, and upon seeing Nan Batian, he said, ”Guild Leader Nan, business is booming, Lord Yelu requests your presence.”

Nan Batian smiled without a word, then reached into his pocket and slipped a silver note worth five thousand taels into Commander Qimu Ge’s sleeve.

”Lord Commander, could you possibly put in a few good words for me later?”

Qimu Ge frowned and said, ”Nan Batian, what is this?”

Nan Batian replied, ”Commander Qimu Ge, that’s for Lord Yelu. Please have mercy.”

”Nan Batian, you’ve made such a huge mistake, do you think your money can cover it? Elder Liu has already taken dozens of men to report you to Yelu Mansion!”

Nan Batian laughed, ”He reports his, no bother.”

Qimu Ge frowned and said, ”You are quite fearless!”

Nan Batian replied, ”I have done nothing wrong and sit upright, therefore my conscience is clear. I’m not afraid of slander. Commander Qimu Ge, please lead the way, I’ll go and explain to Lord Yelu.”

This time, Nan Batian had seen clearly, any excuses could be made in the pursuit of those pieces of military equipment.

And since he had already prepared to manufacture a batch himself, it meant the equipment would definitely be ”found.” Given this circumstance, if there were minor discrepancies in these small matters, as long as he fended off the complaints a bit, he could get by, so naturally, he had no fear in his heart.

Qimu Ge was also stunned by Nan Batian’s boldness; this man had the audacity of lions and leopards, daring to speak so boldly, truly not taking him seriously at all!
