Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Chapter 594: Chapter 182 Nan Batian: What, he has another move?_3

What’s this about?

Money?

Don’t say it’s possible, but committing a crime in the face of such risks, he’s not stupid, is he? So what’s it all about?

For the sake of national justice? Don’t be naive, does he even care about that?

So, how on earth did Chen Jiusi manage it!

”Mr. Tang, do you understand now?”

Yelu asked Tang Ziyue, who, upon hearing this, turned and bowed in response, ”I understand.”

”How about it, relay it to your Gang Leader.”

Tang Ziyue looked at Nan Batian, who also looked back at him and said, ”Well? What’s the situation?”

Tang Ziyue said with a pained expression, ”Gang Leader, the handwriting is indeed yours, no mistake!”

”What, impossible, absolutely impossible, I, I really have never written such a secret letter, Lord, I haven’t!”

Nan Batian felt a profound frustration he couldn’t express at this moment!

Yelu’s face darkened as he said, ”Nan Batian, the evidence is conclusive, and you still deny it?”

”Lord Yelu, I haven’t!”

Nan Batian fell to his knees, ”Lord Yelu, this is a setup, Chen Jiusi is framing me, I really haven’t done it.”

”Lord, put yourself in my shoes, my status is already number one among the Mianshui Han people, I have money, status, and power, why would I secretly communicate with the Zoroastrian Sect?”

”Can they give me more money, greater power, or what else could they give me? I have no need to take risks and collude with them!”

”Lord, I’m wronged!”

Nan Batian, kneeling on the ground, had long lost the defiance of a Gang Leader and was just desperately arguing his case. Seeing this, Yelu frowned; he too felt that Nan Batian lacked motive to collude with the Zoroastrian Sect.

At this moment, Qimu Ge interjected, ”Who knows if you’re driven by some cause for national justice?”

”National justice?”

Nan Batian looked confused, ”Commander Qimu Ge, do I care about that?”

”Over the years, I’ve killed how many Han people for the Lord, not to mention, that Qian Song prestigious family with a lineage of scholarship spanning hundreds of years and the Wen family that plotted rebellion, it was me who led the attack, annihilating their whole families. With such grievous sins, to the Han people, I am nothing but a dog for our Lord, they can’t accept me!”

After hearing this, Qimu Ge fell silent; indeed, Nan Batian had always been excellent at persecuting the Han people, he had done plenty of despicable deeds.

But this couldn’t completely clear him of suspicion.

Nan Batian seemed to understand this as well and bowed his head to Yelu, ”Lord, I know that at this point, no matter how eloquently I speak, you won’t believe me. Since this is the case, I will say no more. Just judge me by my actions.”

Yelu looked at Nan Batian with a slight frown and asked, ”What actions?”

Nan Batian said, ”Lord, am I not responsible for hunting down the military weapons of the Zoroastrian Sect and capturing their demon people?”

”Lord, here I make a military pledge, within twenty days, no, within half a month, I will capture all the military weapons and Zoroastrian demon people. If I cannot find those weapons, I, Nan Batian, am willing to accept death, without a second word!”

Yelu’s eyes narrowed at these words.

Tang Ziyue was also surprised by this sudden declaration; finding the weapons in half a month was quite a tight deadline, yet there seemed no other choice, being cornered by Chen Jiusi.

Thinking this, Tang Ziyue also bowed and said, ”Lord, if the arms are not found within half a month, Ziyue is willing to share the punishment with the Gang Leader.”

Yelu’s eyes narrowed as he looked at Tang Ziyue and Nan Batian before finally saying, ”Fine, Nan Batian, Tang Ziyue, I’ll give you this chance. In half a month, I want to see those weapons and the heads of the Zoroastrian demon people. If you accomplish this, all these secret letters will be regarded as nonsense. If you fail, you will be punished for all your crimes collectively, with an added degree of severity. Don’t say I didn’t give you a chance!”

”Thank you, Lord!”

After this, Tang Ziyue and Nan Batian thanked Yelu in unison, and Yelu nodded, ”Alright, let this matter rest for now, you may leave.”

Upon hearing this, Nan Batian said, ”Yes, Lord, your subordinate takes his leave.”

Watching Nan Batian leave, Qimu Ge asked, ”Master, are you letting them off too easily?”

Yelu said, ”This matter indeed seems very strange, as Nan Batian truly has no reason to collude with the Zoroastrian Sect. What he has wanted, I have given to him.”

”And for him to conspire with the Zoroastrian Sect for further gains would be highly risky and unlikely to succeed.”

Qimu Ge thought for a moment before asking, ”So, Master, do you suspect there’s deceit in this matter?”

Yelu replied, ”It’s both correct and incorrect.”

Qimu Ge: ”?”

Yelu said, ”This case is very peculiar. However, after thinking it over, even if the secret letter is genuine, it’s not a concern. I believe that the most likely scenario is that Nan Batian simply traded his iron mines with the Zoroastrian Sect for Silver Coin, a straightforward transaction.”

”Now we have an urgent need for capable people, with the Inspection Envoy approaching soon, and we must find those weapons, otherwise it will be difficult to explain, so it’s best to turn it over to Nan Batian. Since he wants redemption, he will have to work conscientiously.”

”Sometimes, a person with stains is easier to handle. As long as he’s not truly devoted to the Zoroastrian Sect, he can be of use.”

Qimu Ge said, ”But what if he’s determined to help the Zoroastrian Sect?”

A murderous glint appeared in Yelu’s eyes, ”Kill!”

Qimu Ge said, ”Understood, Master.”

...

Outside Yelu Mansion, Nan Batian was drenched in cold sweat, and Tang Ziyue, following behind, was also full of trepidation. It was too close, a moment’s carelessness and they could have all been doomed.

Thinking this, Tang Ziyue looked at Nan Batian and said, ”Gang Leader, isn’t it going to be very difficult to find those weapons in half a month?”
