Chapter 560: Chapter 176 Chen Jie: Nan Batian, you look like a dog!_5

Tang Ziyue spoke upon hearing this, ”Master Qin, don’t act rashly. If it were so easy to find, we would have found it by now.”

”Moreover, I feel that this batch of military weapons is probably no longer in the city.”

”Ah?”

Qin Ying was stunned. What did that mean, not in the city? Where could it be?

Nan Batian also looked at Tang Ziyue and asked, ”Mr. Tang, what do you mean by this?”

Upon hearing this, Tang Ziyue, holding a twig, said, ”Gang Leader, Master Qin, apart from Chen Jie’s funeral procession, what other big event took place in the city today?”

”What other big event?”

Upon hearing this, Qin Ying said, ”Nothing much, just that group of Mulan people from East City making a fuss about some funeral...”

”Right,” Tang Ziyue continued, ”the Mulan people holding a funeral, it sounds so ludicrous. Yet, we never realized it.”

Tang Ziyue said, ”Chen Jiusi is playing a big game here. In this game, both you and I, and the Mulan people, are just pawns. He has only one opponent, and that is Lord Yelu!”

”I even suspect that his initial plan began during that temple fair in East City, when his men killed Tara of the Mulan people, then used Tara to stir up conflicts between the Mulan and Han people. Subsequently, they let the Zoroastrian Sect people kill Tara. It logically follows that everyone would believe the Zoroastrian Sect killed a Mulan person to express the Han people’s anger.”

”But nobody would have guessed that this was merely Chen Jiusi’s smokescreen; he intended to use the Mulan people’s coffins!”

”His second move followed quickly: building a plank road while secretly marching through Chen Cang. He openly spread the news that he would lavish a grand funeral on his brothers. The news became well-known throughout the full city, and he even spent a fortune ordering twenty-eight large camphorwood coffins. This was merely a diversion, drawing everyone’s attention to him and focusing all eyes on him—this is the plank road.”

”His actions precisely pricked the Mulan people’s noble pride. Given the chance, they would rise to the occasion, feeling the need to hold a funeral to trump Chen Jiusi, to affirm that their superior status still existed. And so, the Mulan people’s absurd funeral came to be.”

”And Chen Jie could then secretly hide the military weapons in these Mulan coffins. Today, he was blatantly defiant, drawing all eyes towards him as he carried the coffins out of the city.”

”While we were chasing him, that batch of military weapons was already being carried out of Mianshui City by the Mulan people, all pompously.”

”No one would inspect Chen Jiusi’s coffin and even less dare to inspect the Mulan people’s coffins. Nowadays, the Mulan people are like a pack of mad dogs; whoever provokes them gets bitten!”

”So!”

Holding the twig in his hand, Tang Ziyue said, ”So, the military weapons are inside the Mulan people’s coffins!”

Upon hearing this, Qin Ying exclaimed, ”This plan is so meticulously crafted; Chen Jiusi is way too terrifying!”

Qin Ying couldn’t help but remark, indeed, it was terrifying. The scheme may not seem all that clever, but those involved would have found it nearly impossible to foresee it, let alone connect the ostensibly unrelated Mulan people with the Zoroastrian Sect since they are sworn enemies!

It would have been impossible to suspect all this if not for a debrief after the event!

And even after a debrief, they found Chen Jie’s thinking somewhat elusive, to use the Mulan people to transport military weapons for the Zoroastrian Sect sounded ridiculous.

Even more preposterous was that Chen Jie had laid out this plan from the very beginning, starting with the killing of a Mulan person.

Considering this, Nan Batian and the others felt a chill, for Chen Jiusi was truly terrifying. The ploy had been set up so long ago and was dreadfully intricate!

Thinking thus, Tang Ziyue said, ”So, Gang Leader, unless something unforeseen happens, the weapons will be in the Mulan people’s coffins.”

Upon hearing this, Nan Batian looked at Tang Ziyue and said, ”Ziyue, are you sure there won’t be any more surprises?”

Tang Ziyue replied, ”This is their only chance to get the military weapons out of the city. If they miss this opportunity, they won’t be able to transport the weapons out before the great battle in the Northern region!”

Nan Batian ordered, ”Alright, get to it, Qin Ying!”

”At your command!”

”Brothers, follow me to intercept the Mulan people’s funeral procession and find that batch of weapons!”

Qin Ying responded, ”Yes.”

Hearing Nan Batian’s command, Tang Ziyue said, ”Gang Leader, I’m afraid it’s too late. At this point, the other side has probably transported the coffins to their destination.”

Upon hearing this, Qin Ying said, ”No worries, once at the gravesite, they still have to hold a ceremony. If we can get there before they finish paying their respects, we can definitively block them. This way, the Zoroastrian Sect won’t have time to take the weapons away!”

Nan Batian replied, ”Right, as long as we get there before the funeral is completely over, it’ll work out. If the Mulan people don’t leave, they won’t be able to open the coffins and remove the weaponry. And even if they do manage to take them out, they’ll need time to move them. They won’t get far carrying the weapons; we’ll definitely be able to cut them off if we try!”

Upon hearing this, Qin Ying commanded, ”Brothers, charge!”

After saying this, the group immediately hastened towards the town. Seeing this, Tang Ziyue called out, ”Hey, where are you going?”

Qin Ying replied, ”We’re heading into the city to find out where the Mulan people exited.”

Tang Ziyue said, ”No need to ask, their graves are on the outside of West City. Head to West City.”

Upon hearing this, Qin Ying ordered, ”West City, brothers, to West City!”

Following his command, a group of men charged straight for West City, as Nan Batian also made his way there.
