Crack!

Lord Yelu, upon hearing the words, grew so furious that he smashed the teacup in his hands onto the ground, exclaiming angrily, ”Good, good, good!”

Lord Yelu repeated the word three times, his eyes filled with murderous intent.

After a long while, Lord Yelu said, ”Well done, Sun Tiechui. I never truly knew you. To think that after all these years, I had never realized that you were a member of the Zoroastrian Sect, a demon person! I have let down the court!”

”At the outset, Chen Jiusi had said Sun Tiechui was from the Zoroastrian Sect, which I didn’t believe, and even thought he was one of us. Now that I think about it, I was really foolish!”

Seeing Lord Yelu like this, Qimu Ge said, ”Master, you can’t blame yourself entirely; you manage innumerable matters daily. How could you oversee everything?”

”But, my Lord,” resumed Qimu Ge, ”Now that we’re talking about this, something comes to my mind. Remember the day we inspected Sun Tiechui’s blacksmith shop? One of Nan Batian’s men mysteriously ran away, do you remember? Later, when we searched his blacksmith shop, it turned out to be fruitless. Could it be that Nan Batian had tipped him off in advance?”

Qimu Ge raised this question while looking at Lord Yelu, who frowned and also recalled the incident. At the time, he hadn’t taken it seriously, but now looking back, it seemed suspicious.

”And another thing, Lord, the situation at the East City Gate today is also very peculiar. Do you really think Nan Batian withdrew all his men just to capture Chen Jiusi?”

”Does capturing Chen Jiusi necessitate that many men? He even left no Fishing Guild Disciples behind. Do you think he might have deliberately left a back door for the Zoroastrian Sect to escape from East City Gate, using the capture of Chen Jiusi as a pretext so that we won’t suspect him of intentionally letting the Zoroastrian people escape?”

After Qimu Ge finished speaking, Lord Yelu’s expression turned grim. Yes, it sounded plausible. He was in collusion with the Zoroastrian Sect, using Chen Jiusi as a pretext to distract everyone’s attention onto Chen Jiusi, including his own.

By doing this, although he lost face publicly, he still aided the Zoroastrian people in successfully relocating. This...

Lord Yelu furrowed his brow. Could this be the case?

If so, this person is indeed very cunning!

Thinking this, Lord Yelu fell silent for a moment, then said to Qimu Ge, ”Two things: first, find that Fishing Guild Disciple who ran away that day. Determine why he escaped and under whose instructions.

”Second, immediately seal off Sun Tiechui’s blacksmith shop, and search it thoroughly again to see if there might be any clues left behind. I must get to the bottom of this matter!”

Hearing this, Qimu Ge immediately bowed and said, ”Yes, my Lord. I will send people to investigate immediately.”

Lord Yelu nodded and added, ”Hmm, also continue the search for the Zoroastrian Sect’s military equipment. The fact that these demon people fled so quickly, clearly without taking their military equipment, suggests it might still be in the city. Keep searching until we get to the bottom of it!”

”Yes, my Lord!”

Qimu Ge complied, and at that moment, Lord Yelu’s eyes roamed into the distance, pondering whether Nan Batian was loyal or treacherous.

While he was pondering this, suddenly, the sound of horse hooves erupted from a distance, and soon after, a Mulan Cavalry charged frantically towards them, shouting, ”Lord Yelu, Lord Yelu!”

Lord Yelu, startled, looked at the Mulan Cavalry and asked, ”Who are you?”

Qimu Ge glanced and said, ”It seems to be a Mulan Noble from East City.”

Lord Yelu looked at Qimu Ge and remarked, ”A noble, huh... them?”

Lord Yelu was disdainful; in the presence of the Yelu Family, aside from the Royal Family—the Borjigit Clan, there were hardly any who could dare claim to be nobles.

Even the current influential figures such as Bo Yan and Tuotuo, in the eyes of the Yelu Family, were trifling.

Soon, the cavalry approached, dismounted, and performed a Mulan courtesy toward Lord Yelu, placing a hand on the shoulder and bowing deeply.

Lord Yelu glanced at him and asked, ”What do you want with me?”

Upon hearing this, the Mulan man said, ”Lord Yelu, a great disaster has occurred, you must stand up for us Mulan people. We are almost being bullied to death!”

Lord Yelu slightly frowned, ”Who dares to bully you?”

”The Han people!”

Lord Yelu’s frown deepened, ”Is it still about Chen Jiusi? I’ve already said...”

”No, this time it has nothing to do with Chen Jiusi.”

Hmm?

Lord Yelu was surprised, as recently it had been Chen Jiusi who was causing trouble with you. If not related to Chen Jiusi, then who could be bullying you?

”Yes, it’s Nan Batian!”

”Who?”

Upon hearing this, Lord Yelu raised his voice. Had Nan Batian gone mad? The issue with the Zoroastrian Sect hadn’t been cleared up yet, and now he had offended the Mulan people?

Lord Yelu asked sternly, ”What exactly happened?”

The Mulan man said, ”He, he dug up Tara’s family grave!”

”What??”

Lord Yelu was astounded. What on earth—Nan Batian had dug up the grave of Tara’s family? What was he thinking?

Lord Yelu, looking baffled, asked the Mulan man, ”You’re not lying?”

The Mulan man declared, ”I swear by Eternal Heaven, he really did dig up Tara’s family grave, and even pried open the coffin. The scene was dreadful. He’s practically shitting on our Mulan people’s necks!”

”Lord, please, you have to do something about him!”

At this point, both Lord Yelu and Qimu Ge, just as perplexed as each other, exchanged glances. Qimu Ge said, ”Lord, let me go and check this out. This Nan Batian is indeed acting outrageously unreasonable.”

Lord Yelu raised his hand and said, ”Wait, I will go with you. I want to see for myself what on earth Nan Batian is up to!”

Lord Yelu stood up, his brow furrowed. He felt increasingly that Nan Batian was becoming utterly unreasonable!
