The Versatile Master Artist

Gu Weijing said to Koizumi Katsuko, ”This year, Scholastic Publishing House is launching a new edition of the ’Little Prince,’ which will officially hit the market this Easter book season.”

Market research matters, Anna had never mentioned to Gu Weijing in advance.

So he was quite surprised to find out that the publishing house had actually made a commercial and even put it on YouTube.

After all, it’s his own artwork.

Gu Weijing was like a housewife accurately picking out her own child from among dozens or hundreds of noisy running children after kindergarten.

Even though there was only a blurred shadow in the footage.

He still recognized it at once, it was the cover he drew for ’Little Prince.’

”Mr. Gu, are you so sure? I didn’t see anything clearly just now, your eyesight is impressive.”

Koizumi Katsuko raised her head in confusion.

”It can’t be wrong. Charlie Hawke’s translation, Detective Cat’s illustration, it should be this book. Remember the interaction between Scholastic Group and Detective Cat on Twitter we saw before, it was about this contract collaboration.”

Gu Weijing didn’t directly answer, just gave a vague response.

Koizumi Katsuko didn’t pay much attention.

The art circle is small, full of rumors, discussion groups online are filled with all sorts of workplace gossip.

Her boyfriend might be paying attention to Detective Cat, seeing some news online that she didn’t know, it’s not surprising.

”If what you said is true, this book is actually the ’Little Prince’... oh, from that blurry shadow, it does look like it, no wonder, no wonder...”

Hearing the names ”Detective Cat” and ”Little Prince.”

It seemed to trigger some association in Koizumi Katsuko.

She mumbled ”no wonder” several times.

”Is it that ’Little Prince’? Have you heard of it before?” Gu Weijing detected the difference in Katsuko’s tone.

The girl shrugged, ”What I mean is, if this book truly has the magic power to make little girls smile, it’s no wonder that lady director won’t let go of it, and has a clear difference of opinion with other magazine shareholders.”

”Which director?”

”The female judge who gave Detective Cat a nine-score review on the ’Mr. Hibernian’ channel before. Mr. Gu, you remember that video, don’t you? She’s quite a beautiful lady.”

”It was indeed very impressive.”

Gu Weijing nodded.

A beautiful girl as delicate as an ice sculpture is not common.

And yet she was sitting in a wheelchair.

He remembered her as the kind of person in that video that once you see, you’ll never forget in your lifetime.

You could tell her judgment on the ten dollars watercolor paper carried a bit of a ”why not eat cake” mentality of a young lady.

Overall, among the people he interacted with under the guise of Detective Cat, the sharp-tongued judge lady wasn’t as gentle and adorable as Mr. Tree Sloth.

But Gu Weijing didn’t have a bad impression of her.

Who could dislike a beautiful person who speaks out for justice and praises oneself?

Gu Weijing had even confronted Moonlight News and Van Doorn on Twitter due to its vulgar mockery.

Even his decision to appear on Mr. Tree Sloth’s art criticism podcast stemmed from this matter.

”Do you guys all think she’s the prettiest goddess face you’ve ever seen?” Koizumi Katsuko casually mentioned this as if she didn’t care at all.

Gu Weijing was about to casually respond, ”Of course.”

Before speaking.

Someone gently kicked him under the table.

”Jasmine? What’s up.”

He tilted his head in confusion.

Gu Weijing saw Little Jasmine roll her eyes at him, a ”duh, even elementary school kids know the answer to this question” kind of look.

”I think Sister Sakai is the most beautiful girl in the world. If I look one-third as good as you when I grow up, I’d wake up laughing from my dreams.”

The little girl took a sip of juice from the table, very tactfully filling up the hole Koizumi Katsuko had casually dug for her straightforward brother, Gu Weijing.

”Jasmine is so cute.”

Koizumi Katsuko lovingly patted the little one’s face.

”I was just casually asking, I didn’t mean anything by it.”

Koizumi Katsuko dragged her tone, making it sound not very convincing.

”Jasmine was right. Of course, no one is prettier than you, Shengzi.”

Seeing the girl across the table with a half-smile, Gu Weijing suddenly realized he almost fell into a trap just now.

Gu Weijing felt a bit resentful inside.

Is comparison a girl’s instinct?

Koizumi Katsuko was once so gentle, like she was away from the mundane world! Since dating, she also started pulling these surprise attacks.

”What Jasmine said was true because she hasn’t seen what Miss Elina looks like. What Mr. Gu said was false because I have self-awareness.”

Koizumi Katsuko smiled slightly, took out the last two pieces of bread from the small basket woven with bamboo.

One piece was put into Jasmine’s mouth, the other fed to Gu Weijing across the table.

”But I love hearing falsehoods too, because I care about you. Caring for you makes me willing to be needlessly jealous.”

”If there’s a girl who doesn’t want to be the prettiest in her boyfriend’s eyes, it’s only because she doesn’t truly like him. If it were Koshiba Tarou on the other side, I wouldn’t ask such a question.”

Koizumi Katsuko playfully revealed her dimples: ”Because I love you, that’s why I have little quirks. So, Mr. Gu, please don’t be mad at me.”

Gu Weijing touched his nose with a bitter smile.

What could he say now?

”I still don’t understand, what’s the connection between Detective Cat’s ’Little Prince,’ the oil painting magazine, and Miss Elina?” Gu Weijing wisely changed the topic.
