Ning An's Wild Wish System

Quanzhen is in full swing on this side, while Zhengyi isn’t quiet either.

Returning from Elder Shi, Zhang Yuanyi contacted several leading figures of Zhengyi to discuss in secret.

They naturally guessed the official’s purpose; the officials only care about who can advance their cultivation level faster, everything else is secondary.

”So, Senior Brother, you’ve reached the Mist level?”

Zhang Yuanyi sighed:

”What of the Mist? It’s still impossible to accurately sense the Spiritual Qi inside a Spirit Stone, it probably requires reaching the Gathering Herbs stage.”

”Moreover, the Temple Master of Baiyun Temple should also have reached the Mist.”

Upon hearing this, the few people in the room felt their pressure double.

This is no longer a mere verbal argument but a life-or-death struggle!

After much discussion, they ultimately had no better method than to allocate some of their own cultivation resources to Zhang Yuanyi, hoping he could step into the Gathering Herbs stage faster.

...

”No one can accurately sense all Spiritual Qi.”

”Yes, but Dragon Tiger Mountain...”

”Using talismans doesn’t count; how long did he say it would take to reach the level I want?”

”According to Xu Qinglai’s own words, to completely sense the Spirit Stone, he must breakthrough to Gathering Herbs; the Mist level is insufficient and does not meet our needs. As for the time required, he couldn’t say, only that with sufficient cultivation resources, he promises to breakthrough as quickly as possible.”

”Hmph, he certainly knows how to make demands.”

In a secret room in the Capital City, a person snorted coldly and then said: ”The path of cultivation is not certain; casting a wide net will eventually yield some talents.”

”Chief.”

Another person cautiously spoke: ”If Xu Qinglai reaches Gathering Herbs first, should our policies towards him be...”

”If he breaks through first, it proves his talent is higher and more capable of serving Dragon Country, so our policy support cannot falter.”

”Whether it’s him or his sect.”

The person paused: ”But one thing to keep in mind is that these people are ultimately not our own. We can use him, but we cannot fully trust him. We must both win them over and suppress them, never leaning excessively to the left or right.”

”And if they are not satisfied...”

The person chuckled: ”Isn’t this quite normal? Once their strength grows, there will undoubtedly be those who scheme with eagle eyes and wolfish gazes. Don’t worry, when one jumps out, we crush a whole bunch. It’s just a minor issue.”

”By the way, how have things been at the Daoist School recently?”

”Both factions have received the information and have started fighting with each other, fearing that the other side will breakthrough first, making them passive.”

”That’s good, remember, whether the fight between these two factions concerns life or death, let them handle it behind closed doors. We must not get involved; just make sure to steer the ship.”

”Yes!”

The one reporting answered, then continued, ”Chief, regarding Changchun Temple, what measures should we take?”

”Maintain the initial strategy. Apart from matters related to the Daoist School, everything else stays the same.”

”Yes!”

After the informer exited, the room fell into prolonged silence.

The attitude from above is clear now; whoever breaks through first and can be utilized by the officials, they will support him and his backing sect generously!

After all, these sects are not considered part of the officials, so there’s no concern about favoritism.

The country needs stability and the support of various interest groups.

Currently, the officials hold the foundation supported by all groups—the Spirit Rice!

But so far, the yield from the experimental base for Spirit Rice is not very promising. Excluding the portion needed for the next batch of seeds, the officials only have a little over 1,300 kilograms of Spirit Rice.

These need to be divided into three parts: one part for the Daoist School, one part for the elites, and one part for Changchun Temple.

The portion for the elites seems significant in number, but the elites have more than just a few members in their families!

Speaking just for himself, at his rank, the portion of Spirit Rice he receives is 50 kilograms. Distributing it among the younger generations in his family is just a drop in the bucket, completely insufficient.

Virtually all the major families in the Capital City are eagerly waiting for the second batch of Spirit Rice from the base to mature; it is expected to be considerably more than the first batch.

As for the Daoist School, the amount of Spirit Rice they require is the most among the three parts.

In theory, this allocation system would certainly lead to discontent among the elites, possibly even resistance.

But on the contrary, ever since the allocation of Spirit Rice, not a word of complaint has been heard from the elites, and they even voluntarily increased the allocation for the Daoist School for the second batch.

More accurately, it’s the elders among these elites, those in power, who hope to gain longer life!

History is always surprisingly similar!

From ancient to modern times, whether emperors, commoners, or even servants, who hasn’t dreamed of having immortal life!

Even with historical records and countless failed cases before their eyes, these people still pursue this elusive path with madness and determination.

Previously, seeing no hope, they remained calm, but now with the revival of Spiritual Qi, their hearts have instantly become lively.

Although he is called the chief, in front of these people, whether in terms of seniority, age, or influence, he falls short.

Faced with such a situation, he and several friends have even joked about it in private.

”These old men, seeing hope spring to life again, look at their own decaying bodies, naturally unwilling to resign. Who doesn’t want to have a young and vigorous body?”
