Ning An's Wild Wish System

These individuals were all personally promoted by Old Deng, and it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call them trusted confidants.

If the election is lost and the sanctions on Dragon Country don’t improve Yingjiang’s livelihoods, public sentiment will become even more turbulent. If Trump comes to power, he might make them the first to be axed.

Their eyes flickered with various thoughts, but Old Deng didn’t have the time to play these petty games with them.

”James, during our exercises last month, when that 8157 vessel from Dragon Country suddenly appeared, did your navy figure out what was going on?”

Upon hearing this, James looked up, his dark face turning serious immediately:

”Mr. President, according to our planted spy, that electronic ship from Dragon Country was coated with a stealth varnish that nearly made it invisible to radar.”

”Moreover, that ship has spotted our exercises more than once.”

”Not long ago, my subordinates reported the ship appeared right in front of them, yet not a trace showed up on the radar display.”

No sooner had James finished speaking than Davis scowled and said:

”That’s impossible, it doesn’t make any sense.”

”I’ve never heard of such a stealth varnish that can make a complete fool out of radar.”

”Even for us in Yingjiang, with the world’s best researchers, the highest funding, and top laboratories, we can only achieve a seventy-three percent success rate!”

”How could Dragon Country possibly achieve this kind of stealth varnish functionality!”

Davis became more and more agitated, nearly shouting.

As the Minister of Defense, the sudden appearance of Dragon Country’s aircraft carrier arresting gear alone was enough to make him resign in disgrace, and now there’s this sudden emergence of a varnish that totally evades radar detection.

If this is true, the accountability would be enormous.

Not only would he as the Minister of Defense have to step down immediately, he might also face charges of dereliction of duty!

”Then tell me, if it’s not the stealth varnish, then what could it be that prevents our radar from detecting that ghost ship? Even Zeus couldn’t possibly have nothing better to do than play tricks on us?” James replied firmly, not backing down.

He also couldn’t believe that Dragon Country, which had been trailing their technology, suddenly seemed to have hit a shortcut key, with all sorts of incredible developments flooding in overnight.

The aircraft carrier arresting gear was barely understandable, but the stealth varnish left him uneasy.

Even some of the staff they compromised within Dragon Country’s most advanced laboratories reported back that Dragon Country hadn’t reached this stage at all!

”Shut up! Will arguing solve the problems?”

Old Deng coldly interjected, and the office returned to its usual quiet.

After a moment, Old Deng slowly spoke:

”Gentlemen, we have reached a pivotal moment in Yingjiang’s destiny. If we succeed, Yingjiang advances further; if we fail, we are traitors to Yingjiang!”

”No matter how much you hold against each other, I can let bygones be bygones!”

”Right now all I want to see is everyone united and focused outward!”

”James, you’re in charge of overseeing the navy, and work to develop more advanced radar systems, so that we aren’t near-sighted while the enemy sharpens their senses.”

James immediately stood at attention: ”Yes!”

”Warton, as long as I’m in office, I hope the parliament doesn’t entertain unnecessary noises. We must engage in this contest with Dragon Country; this is not child’s play, but a life-and-death struggle!”

”Understood, Mr. President!”

Old Deng then looked at Davis, somewhat at his wits’ end, disgruntled by his incompetence: ”As for you, figure out what’s going on with that aircraft carrier arresting gear, and have your men focus; don’t let Dragon Country lead us around like fools!”

Davis blushed slightly, loudly declaring: ”Rest assured, Mr. President, this situation will not occur again!”

”I hope so,” Old Deng wrinkled his nose, then seemed to remember something and added: ”By the way, have your men investigate Changchun Temple as well. While I don’t believe in divine intervention, it won’t hurt to check if those incense offerings actually benefit us.”

Davis promptly assured: ”Yes!”

Warton, hearing Old Deng bring up Dragon Country, couldn’t help but perk up and spoke: ”Mr. President, speaking of Dragon Country, there’s one more thing.”

”Go on.” Old Deng leaned slightly forward, clearly taking great interest in any news related to Dragon Country.

”We’ve discovered that several funeral homes run by Dragon Country people have been transporting bodies more frequently lately; I suspect...”

”What do you suspect? What’s there to doubt about this?”

Old Deng felt a headache coming on and waved it off: ”Even if those Dragon Country people wanted to stir trouble, it’s just a bunch of bodies, don’t bother with it.”

”The focus should remain on Dragon Country proper; use all means necessary to uncover why Dragon Country has been changing so much lately!”

”Yes!”

With that, the individuals left the office.

Half an hour later, countless secret communications radiated out from Yingjiang, activating innumerable agents and spies on that day.

Until today, they had been merely neighbors, superiors, and teachers, but from today onward, they had two objectives:

Discover the origin of Dragon Country’s stealth varnish and do everything possible to sabotage Dragon Country’s national fortune!

...

Meanwhile, Ning An, who had just returned to Changchun Temple, was completely unaware of any of this.

At the moment, he was staring blankly at a banner that was stuffed into the temple.

The banner was carefully wrapped in a bag and then cautiously pushed through the Daoist Temple’s door crack, with an additional layer of rainproof cloth. It was clear that the sender of the banner was very grateful to Ning An.
