Ning An's Wild Wish System

”Ya, hey!”

With a shout, Ning An and Aunt Li also lent a hand, successfully placing the Golden Retriever on his broad shoulders.

”This amount of exercise is just like my usual cardio at the gym, don’t worry.”

Wang Ruozhi waved his hand easily, bid farewell to the Daoist Master, and turned to leave.

”Is he... really going to be okay?” Aunt Li looked skeptically at the departing figure ahead.

”Probably fine.”

Ning An watched the straight upper body with slightly trembling lower body and shook his head, ”This is what happens when you work out but skip leg day.”

”Don’t worry about him, if he can’t take it, he’ll call a cab. The last thing a man wants is to admit he can’t do it.”

Then, Ning An turned his head, pulling Aunt Li along, ”Let’s go, Aunt Li, let’s burn some incense and make a wish.”

When they reached the incense table, Ning An picked up three incense sticks, lit them, and handed them over.

Aunt Li took the incense sticks and began to make her wish earnestly.

”Immortal above, there must be some evil stirring in my house. Please open your eyes and help rid my home of this evil spirit, and bring back my silly son from before.”

Ning An listened to the wish, feeling both understanding and helplessness.

You could say that every time Aunt Li comes, she makes this kind of wish.

If it weren’t for ’Into Science’ going off the air, they’d surely have to film an episode or two at her house.

After making her wish, Aunt Li did not enter the hall directly but sighed heavily:

”Do you think the Immortal can hear my prayers?”

”Don’t worry, Aunt Li, if the heart is sincere, the spirit will respond.”

Ning An looked at the panel gradually appearing above her head and nodded in affirmation.

Getting this confirmation, Aunt Li’s face slightly released some worry and she went into the prayer hall to share her troubles with the Ancestral Master Statue.

Ning An looked up at the panel, and when he saw the content, he was almost dumbfounded.

[Gender: Female]

[Occupation: Relocated Household]

[Name: Li Huahua]

[Wish: Evil spirit causing unrest at home, hope to eliminate it and restore the British Shorthair to its previous silly self.]

[Backdoor wish-fulfillment method: Ten minutes later, the wires of the automatic waterer for the cat were exposed for too long in the water, which resulted in a shocking flash and it broke down!]

After reading the system panel, Ning An couldn’t help but open the video Aunt Li had just sent him for a serious comparison.

Sure enough, other than acting strangely while using the automatic waterer, the British Shorthair in the video was normal at other times.

’Into Science’ shouldn’t have gone off the air!

Ning An raised his head and let out two helpless dry laughs.

Not long after, Aunt Li came out from the Prayer Hall.

Standing next to Ning An, she began to sigh deeply:

”When will the Immortal have time to rid my home of that evil spirit?”

Ning An did not directly answer her question but asked Aunt Li instead, ”Aunt Li, where’s that round blue guy in your house now?”

Talking about this, Aunt Li perked up a bit: ”I locked it in a cage and put it in the rooster’s coop! Isn’t it said that roosters are the most yang and resolute of creatures? I figured even if there really is an evil spirit, it can at least suppress it for a while.”

Poor thing.

In the next life, choose a different family to reincarnate into.

Ning An silently mourned for the British Shorthair for three seconds, then asked, ”And what about Uncle Li? Why didn’t he come this time?”

”Oh, isn’t it to prevent that thing from causing trouble in the village? I had him stay home and watch. If anything goes wrong, he can quickly alert the villagers to run away so it doesn’t wreak havoc in the village.”

Ning An felt both touched and helpless, rubbing his forehead and trying not to laugh aloud, he said seriously, ”Call Uncle Li on video, I have something to tell him.”

Aunt Li didn’t delay and immediately made a video call.

The call was connected quickly.

”Mother of the kids, what’s up?” A rough voice came from the other end of the call.

”I just finished praying to the Immortal. Little Daoist has something to say to you, listen carefully.”

After saying this, Aunt Li handed the phone in front of Ning An.

”Uncle Li, what are you doing?”

Seeing what’s on the screen shocked Ning An. Uncle Li, on the other end of the video call, had two or three texts of mismatched yellow talismans on him, a dark pot of blood nearby, a row of garlic, and a few bowls of sticky rice not far away, holding a cross in his hand. It seemed just short of adding an AK for a complete blend of East and West, ancient and modern.

”Isn’t it because I’m scared that the evil spirit might come out? We don’t know what exactly it is, so I’m just preparing a bit of everything, better safe than sorry.”

Uncle Li grinned widely, scratching his head with a foolish smile.

Due to the video angle, the live-streaming audience also saw clearly.

”Oh my gosh! Did he grow up watching Uncle Ying’s movies? It would be perfect if he had a Taoist altar as well.”

”Why don’t you say he should wear a Taoist robe and then who needs an Ancestral Master? Whatever evil spirit there is, just put on the clothes and handle it himself.”

”Looking at this setup, could there actually be something unclean there?”

”I don’t know if there’s something unclean, but this family’s character is commendable. No wonder Brother Sect Leader welcomed them from afar, I thought they were his relatives. My bad, my bad.”

...

Ning An pulled a bitter smile at the corner of his mouth, ”Uncle Li, do you trust me?”

”Of course, I do, kiddo, Uncle Li trusts you for sure.” Uncle Li answered without hesitation.

Ning An said, ”Uncle Li, take that cat out of the chicken coop.”

Upon hearing this, Uncle Li hesitated a bit but still tossed aside the fish spear in his hand, walked over to the chicken coop, and brought out the cat cage.

”Uncle Li, put the cat where it usually drinks water, and let it go have a drink.”

Uncle Li did as he was told, grabbing it by the nape and putting it down in front of the automatic waterer.

The British Shorthair was already afraid of the heat, and after being stuffed in the yard all afternoon on a midsummer noon, it was parched. As soon as it was put down, it rushed straight to the waterer.

As expected, with each sip, the British Shorthair would jerk its head up, wobbling and shaking, but its eyes would instantly become clear.

”Little Daoist, look, just like that!” Aunt Li excitedly pointed at the screen:

”Especially its eyes, you don’t know, it’s usually so silly, it could never have such sharp eyes!”

On the other side of the screen, Uncle Li was also staring intently at the British Shorthair, softly analyzing: ”Maybe this water-feeding machine is actually a parasitic treasure of that evil spirit. Whenever the British Shorthair drinks, it can take the opportunity to possess it...”

Ning An, feeling a bit helpless, had to interrupt Uncle Li early and cleared his throat, saying:

”Uncle Li, do you have a pen tester at home?”
