Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure

”Chase him into that alley and we’ll trap him.”

I followed this order even though it would have been much easier for me to just use my water magic to take down the one that we were chasing.

After all, I was currently working as part of a team to chase down a criminal.

As for how I ended up in this situation...

”You really went to quite the dangerous place.”

”Not to mention that you even brought our daughter along.”

”I think this goes against what we discussed previously, right?”

When faced with my in laws going back and forth like this, there really wasn’t anything for me to say. After all, what they were saying was true since I was the one that had gone against our agreement first.

But I really didn’t have another chance to experience a gambling den like this.

Not to mention that I didn’t expect things to go that far or for Ariel to bring the royal guards to look for me.

However, everything that I could have said would have just been an excuse.

Even if I said it, it wasn’t as if it would have helped this situation at all.

Which was why I could only go along with what they wanted.

”Since this event has happened, it seems like there’s no need for us to continue with the current arrangement.”

I wasn’t surprised that they proposed this. In fact, I knew that they were more proposing this because they wanted to bring their grandson back to the castle rather than their daughter.

In their eyes, they actually missed their grandson more than their daughter.

But it wasn’t as if they were that biased that they would make things hard for me.

”How about working as part of the police force?”

That was the suggestion that was made and I didn’t mind it since being a police officer was also a new experience for me. It was also something that I didn’t even think about becoming until now.

It wasn’t as if I didn’t want to do it, it was just that I had never thought of it before.

Thinking of it now, it did seem like an interesting experience.

But before that, there was something else that I did have to ask.

”That gambling den, did you really not know anything about it?”

When this question was raised, there was an awkward look that appeared on the faces of the Merman King and Merman Queen. This was a look that showed that they already knew about this place, but they were turning a blind eye to it.

Though looking closely, it didn’t seem like they were completely aware of what it was.

”To rule means giving autonomy to those beneath you to a certain extent. For those nobles that help govern the kingdom, they are given a certain amount of leeway in their own territory.” The Merman King gave this speech that sounded like he was teaching me about how to be a king.

However, it quickly changed when he said, ”We only knew about the gambling den itself, not the underground portions of it.”

Gambling was a vice, but it was also a form of entertainment.

If it wasn’t taken too far, it wasn’t as if there was a need to ban it completely. After all, it was one of the ways that citizens could relax after a long day of hard work.

That was as long as it was all in good fun.

But it was clear that the underground portion of the gambling den had taken things too far.

Seeing the look on the Merman King’s face, I knew that he was helpless in this matter as well.

There was only so much that he could do, it wasn’t as if he was an omnipotent king that knew about everything that happened in the kingdom. To a certain extent, there would always be a bit of corruption in any kingdom.

It was the same for the Kite Kingdom, such as the case with that director in the Land Development Department.

I really couldn’t blame him for this since it was something that was inevitable.

At the same time, I knew that there was a simple truth.

”Even if we clear it out this time, it’s not as if it’ll disappear completely. There is a gap that is created because we took it out and there will be something that comes up that will replace it.”

This was just how it was when it came to things like this.

As long as there was a need, there would be someone that would come along to fill that need. With something like gambling, it was inevitable that greed would take over and they would want more and more.

At a certain point, they would break the law once more.

But there really wasn’t anything that could be done about all of this.

Back in the present, I had already lured the criminal to where the others were waiting.

Once the criminal was surrounded, there was nothing that they could do other than try to break free. Which was why the moment that they saw the others in front of them, they turned around to face me with a dagger drawn.

”Get out of the way or...”

That criminal didn’t even get to finish what they were saying as I suddenly waved my hand.

The moment that I did this, the water around the criminal suddenly compressed and squeezed against them. The strongest part of the compression was around the wrist of the hand that was holding the dagger.

When this hand was compressed, the criminal couldn’t help releasing the dagger that they had pulled.

In fact, they were completely frozen there as they were held in place by the waves created in the water.

”Tch, you could have at least left something for us to do.”

I just smiled at my companions when they teased me like this, not taking what they said to heart.
