A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 993: Chapter 993: Visiting as a Guest!

After a week off, Mu Yan started to get busy again, though it’s mostly commercials, cameos, and variety shows.

As for scripts, Song Cheng’an is still helping her pick them out. Thanks to the big hit ”Lone Eagle,” her popularity has soared, and her standards for script quality have risen too.

Additionally, Chen Zhou invited her to play the lead role in his new movie.

Mu Yan read the script and thought it was very good, and she plans to accept the role.

Because of this, Chen Zhou invited her over, though it was actually Sister Wen who extended the invitation, and Wang Linjia was also invited.

This year, Wang Linjia’s workload has decreased significantly, so she has more vacation time. She came to Upper City for a holiday but also to visit Mu Yan.

In the morning, Mu Yan had the driver take her to the airport to pick someone up.

Wang Linjia was traveling very low-key this time; she didn’t even bring an assistant, just wheeled a suitcase and wore a hat, mask, and sunglasses, covering herself up tightly.

When Mu Yan picked her up, she was taken aback.

”Sister, don’t you think your outfit makes you look like a bad guy?”

Dressed all in black and wrapped up tightly, she was very conspicuous, okay?

Wang Linjia shrugged, ”Well, what can you do when your sister here is popular and recognizable?”

Mu Yan, ”...”

This trick is selling well.

”Didn’t you find it tiring to come over so early in the morning?” Mu Yan asked. It wasn’t even ten o’clock yet; how early did she have to get up?

”Well, I was afraid of coming a day early and causing discomfort to your brother-in-law,” Wang Linjia said with a helpless expression. ”After all, with me here, you have to hang out with me every day.”

Mu Yan smiled, ”Of course I’ll be with you every day, Sister Linjia.”

”Really? You sure your husband is okay with that?” Wang Linjia looked incredulous.

”He’s gone on a business trip abroad and won’t be back for several days.”

Upon hearing that, Wang Linjia immediately felt regret, ”I should have come yesterday; I got up at four this morning. Why didn’t you tell me?”

Mu Yan looked innocent, ”Well, you never asked.”

Wang Linjia, ”...”

So it’s her fault?

But she didn’t want to admit it, ”No way, you made me get up early. You have to show me all around Upper City these days.”

”Of course.”

Wang Linjia was finally satisfied and started talking about things she had heard lately.

”Did you know your dad and your stepmother were kicked out of the house?”

”How did you know?”

”Who in our Beijing circle doesn’t know? But the word is that your uncle and your dad had a falling out, which led to the family split.”

”Huh?” Mu Yan was a bit surprised, ”What does that have to do with my uncle?”

”It’s gossip; just listening is enough. Historically, when a family has many sons, there’s more strife,” Wang Linjia shrugged, ”Although your dad is in business and your uncle’s in politics—they don’t even cross paths. That’s why many people don’t believe it. But your dad and your stepmother’s past got dragged into it again.”

Mu Yan frowned slightly, ”Was my mom mentioned?”

”Yes, but what’s being said is quite unpleasant.”

”Hmm?”

Wang Linjia hesitated before saying, ”The rumor says your dad and your stepmother are true love, and it’s your mom who, by using her status as an adopted daughter of the Zhuang Family, seduced your dad and almost broke them apart. They say your mom was indiscreet after marriage, always up to something. These things are just rumors; don’t take them seriously.”

Mu Yan pondered for a moment, ”Do you think it’s possible someone spread these rumors on purpose?”

”Hmm?”

Instead of answering, Mu Yan asked, ”Sister Lin Jia, can you help me find out who started spreading this?”

Wang Linjia looked at her and nodded, ”I’ll ask around.”

”Thank you, Sister Linjia.”

Wang Linjia laughed, ”No need to be so polite with me.”

The car arrived all the way at Sister Wen’s villa. Mu Yan got out and saw several cars parked in front of the villa.

She looked at Wang Linjia beside her. Are there guests?

Wang Linjia thought of something and chuckled lightly, ”Only uninvited guests; don’t worry, your sister is here with you.”
