A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 969: Chapter 969: Keeping Things Fair

With Ruan Xinyu comforting her on the side, Mrs. Zhuang’s expression finally looked less unpleasant.

Mu Yan gave Ruan Xinyu a grateful look, thankful to have her aunt there.

In the Zhuang Family, her favorite people were her uncle and aunt.

After having breakfast at the Zhuang Family, Mu Yan and Jiang Jingheng left together.

As they were leaving, Ruan Xinyu slipped an envelope to Mu Yan, ”This is a wedding gift for you.”

Knowing what Mu Yan was about to say, she immediately said, ”Don’t refuse, your uncle and I don’t have a daughter, and we’ve always considered you as our own since you were young. It’s just a token of our heart.”

Mu Yan looked at the envelope in her hand, feeling its weight, and suddenly the place didn’t seem so suffocating and cold anymore.

Ruan Xinyu patted Mu Yan’s hand, ”Alright, child, hurry up and go, don’t miss your flight.”

”Thank you, aunt and uncle,” Mu Yan said earnestly.

Ruan Xinyu smiled; if she had such a well-behaved daughter, she would surely cherish her deeply.

After Mu Yan and Jiang Jingheng left, Mrs. Zhuang suddenly got up and walked to the door, watching the car take them away.

Her cloudy eyes showed a hint of helplessness, ”The girl blames us, doesn’t she?”

Ruan Xinyu smiled, ”Mom, you’re overthinking, Nuannuan is so well-behaved, how could she blame you?”

Mrs. Zhuang shook her head, no one is born well-behaved, it depends on whether they are willing or not.

But even a clay figurine has some temper; she surely holds some resentment this time.

Just like Ah Ning back then, wasn’t it the same...

”Mom, it’s windy at the door, don’t stand here,” Ruan Xinyu suddenly said.

”Mm,” Mrs. Zhuang nodded, turned around, and went inside, suddenly remembering something, ”Has the soup for Jiaojiao been delivered yet?”

Ruan Xinyu’s eyelid twitched, she smiled and said, ”Not yet, it will probably take another half hour to be ready, just in time for her lunch.”

Mrs. Zhuang nodded, ”Alright.”

Ruan Xinyu glanced at her mother-in-law’s expression, just a moment ago she couldn’t let go of Nuannuan, and the next moment she didn’t forget Jiaojiao, who almost harmed Nuannuan. Truly, treating both sides equally.

Just as the two sat down, Guan Chao arrived with a lot of gifts, saying he was here to apologize to Mu Yan.

Ruan Xinyu looked at him apologetically, ”Nuannuan and Jing Heng just returned to Upper City, not long ago, you’re a bit late.”

”What a pity,” Guan Chao said with some regret.

Ruan Xinyu smiled but didn’t respond further; she didn’t think Nuannuan would want to see him.

Guan Chao then asked, ”Aunt, could you give me Nuannuan’s phone number?”

”Hmm?” Ruan Xinyu looked at him in surprise.

Guan Chao explained, ”I want to apologize to her again, but she’s in Upper City, and I won’t feel at ease if I can’t contact her.”

Considering the connection between the two families, Ruan Xinyu hesitated for a moment but eventually gave him the number.

Mrs. Zhuang suddenly asked him, ”What’s going on with you and our Jiaojiao?”

Guan Chao recalled what he said yesterday and immediately responded, ”Jiaojiao and I used to date, but we broke up a long time ago.”

”You seemed to say yesterday that you weren’t interested in her?” Mrs. Zhuang’s tone carried a hint of danger.

Guan Chao’s eyelid twitched, knowing his words yesterday might have been too harsh. But at the time, he was disgusted by Zhuang Chujiao denying their relationship, so he deliberately said such things.

He grinned, ”Not at all, it was she who wasn’t interested in me. I heard she’s fond of a young master from the Chengjiang Family, though I can’t remember which one.”

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Zhuang’s expression changed instantly, ”Why didn’t I know about this? Be careful with your words.”

”Understood, thank you for the reminder, madam,” Guan Chao still smiled.

Once outside the Zhuang Family, the smile on his face disappeared instantly. They want him to marry someone like Zhuang Chujiao? Ha, dream on!

If it were Zhuang Xiangnuan, perhaps he might consider it.

He looked at the number he had just obtained on his phone, and his smile deepened.
