A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 990: Chapter 990: Clear Boundaries?

Lan Xi looked at her phone, tears uncontrollably falling down as the hand holding the phone trembled.

The person on the other end, not hearing a response, continued talking to themselves: ”Hello, is there anything you need? Ah Hao is in the shower right now...”

Lan Xi finally couldn’t listen any longer, directly hung up the call, took her car, and left.

Just pretend you don’t know anything, she thought.

Anyway, they aren’t even engaged yet; to him, she’s nothing. She can’t control him.

Maybe, maybe once they’re married, he will settle down.

Though she thought this way, the tears flowed like a flood breaking a dam, overwhelming grievance coming in waves, a pain in her heart that felt suffocating.

Actually, she could only comfort herself this way, whether it worked or not.

On the way back, Mu Yan complained to Jiang Jingheng: ”Why are all your friends such jerks?”

Jiang Jingheng felt that this was an unfair accusation, smiling: ”Are you saying that I’m like a lotus unsullied by mud?”

Mu Yan really wanted to roll her eyes at him; could his skin be any thicker?

Seeing that she was unhappy, Jiang Jingheng asked: ”Should we let Dong Le and the others teach Jian Shaohan a lesson?”

Mu Yan shook her head, ”Forget it, a forced melon isn’t sweet; even if you teach Jian Shaohan a lesson, will he be good to Huahua? He might even hold a grudge, which would make things worse.”

She remembered something and asked: ”When you men have a girlfriend, under what circumstances would you maintain a clear boundary with her?”

”A clear boundary?” Jiang Jingheng repeated the phrase. ”What do you mean?”

Mu Yan lightly coughed and said: ”It means having no romantic interest in the girlfriend.”

Jiang Jingheng understood and replied: ”That wouldn’t happen.”

”Huh?”

”Since she’s your girlfriend, how could you have no such interest,” Jiang Jingheng said, looking at her, ”You know this very well, don’t you?”

Mu Yan, feeling the tender emotions in his eyes, felt her cheeks grow warm. How did he relate this back to them again?

Indeed, when they were alone, he would always cling to her, kiss and touch, not behaving himself at all, let alone being even more over the top at night.

She pursed her lips deliberately and said: ”Liar, I remember you were very proper last year.”

”How did you know I didn’t want to?” Jiang Jingheng raised an eyebrow.

Mu Yan snorted, ”So you had the intention but not the courage?”

Jiang Jingheng took her hand, kissing the back of it, ”Yeah, I was afraid of scaring you off.”

Mu Yan felt as if the back of her hand had been burned, looking at his intense gaze, recalling his assertiveness in those matters. Indeed, if he had pushed back then, she would have taken him as a villain.

But knowing his calculated intentions, she felt that he was not just a villain, but one with a thoroughly black heart.

She turned her face away and asked: ”If Jian Shaohan doesn’t like Huahua, why be with her?”

Jiang Jingheng frowned lightly. She had been talking about Jian Shaohan and Zheng Lu Hua the whole way; are they that important?

He suddenly bit down on the back of her hand.

Mu Yan exclaimed in pain, glaring at him, ”What are you doing?”

She tried to pull her hand back, but he wouldn’t let go, and they remained at a standoff.

Mu Yan looked plaintively at him, ”You’re bullying me.”

Jiang Jingheng raised an eyebrow, ”Am I? That’s not how I bully you.”

Seeing his amused expression, Mu Yan was at a loss for words, snorting lightly and ignoring him.

Seeing that she was upset, Jiang Jingheng immediately tried to appease her by saying what she wanted to hear, ”The Zheng Family and the Jian Family used to be neighbors, and the elders of both families had a good relationship. Jian Shaohan and Zheng Lu Hua were childhood sweethearts, and their marriage was supported by both families, but Jian Shaohan might not think the same way.”
