A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 934: Chapter 934: A Visit to Apologize

The Imperial Capital Zhuang Family was visited early in the morning by several guests, to be precise, it was an elderly gentleman accompanied by his son, daughter-in-law, and grandson, arriving to apologize.

The Guan Family and the Zhuang Family have been family friends for generations; the old sirs of both families fought together on the battlefield in their youth, sharing a life-and-death bond.

Old Sir Guan’s sudden visit was particularly significant to the entire Zhuang Family, causing Zhuang Zeyang to forgo going to work and instead take leave to stay home and entertain.

In the living room, members of the Zhuang Family and the Guan Family sat together, nearly occupying the entire space.

Ruan Xinyu instructed the servants to serve snacks and pour tea, then retreated to stand beside her husband.

Old Sir Guan and Mr. Zhuang were similar in age, both nearing eighty, yet equally spirited and full of vigor.

He was of slight build, and his small eyes seemed ready to close at any moment if not careful.

His face bore a smile, appearing very amiable, akin to a benevolent Maitreya Buddha.

The man beside him, in his fifties, bore a close resemblance, his age akin to Zhuang Zeyang; at present, he had his head bowed, looking cautious and tense. Seated next to him was his equally apprehensive wife.

Though she had maintained a good relationship with Ruan Xinyu, often meeting for tea outings, today she dared not meet her gaze.

As for the youngest son of the Guan Family, his face was filled with impatience and anger, though he dared not voice it.

The members of the Zhuang Family exchanged furtive glances amongst themselves, puzzled as it wasn’t a holiday, yet they brought gifts and came in a large group. They simply couldn’t understand what was unfolding today.

Mr. Zhuang took a sip of tea and remarked to Old Sir Guan seated beside him, ”Old Guan, your complexion doesn’t look too good. Has something troubling you?”

He and Old Sir Guan were close friends and also superior-subordinate in their earlier days; he was very aware of Old Sir Guan’s character. He would never visit for trifles nor cling to the Zhuang Family, nor him as an old superior.

Old Sir Guan chuckled, ”No such thing. Everything’s fine, with the old leader around, all is well with me.”

Mr. Zhuang glanced at him briefly, his gaze sweeping over his son, daughter-in-law, and grandson, the meaning unmistakable.

Old Sir Guan seemed not to notice and casually inquired, ”I heard Nuannuan has been found. Where’s the child? Why haven’t I seen her?”

He searched through the group as he spoke.

Mrs. Zhuang replied, ”She lives in Upper City. I’ll have her visit your family to pay respects to you as her grandfather when she returns home another day.”

Old Sir Guan sighed emotionally, ”After so many years, I wonder if Nuannuan still remembers me.”

”You doted on her so much when she was young, how could she possibly forget?” Mrs. Zhuang responded with a smile, not mentioning Mu Yan’s memory loss at all.

Old Sir Guan smiled, growing increasingly annoyed as he considered the misdeeds committed by his grandson.

Suddenly, he turned to his grandson, who had his head bowed, ”Haven’t you knelt yet to apologize to your Grandfather Zhuang?”

All eyes immediately fell upon the young man sitting beside Mrs. Guan, head bowed in silence.

The young man appeared twenty-six or seven years old, resembling his mother, with delicate fair features, yet his brow was furrowed and he seemed rather unwilling.

Seeing his disobedience, Old Sir Guan’s anger flared, ”What are you doing standing there? Kneel down for me!”

”Old Guan, what’s this about!” Mr. Zhuang interjected with furrowed brows.

”Yes, why vent your anger at the child for no reason?” Mrs. Zhuang added. Guan Chao was someone she watched grow up; though not without flaws, she genuinely cared for him as a younger generation.

The rest of the Zhuang Family looked puzzled at the Guan Family, wondering what exactly their purpose was today.

Old Sir Guan looked at Mr. Zhuang and Mrs. Zhuang with shame, ”My old friend and sister-in-law aren’t aware of the disgraceful thing this boy has done?”

Mr. Zhuang grew increasingly perplexed, ”What on earth happened? Explain clearly!”

Old Sir Guan sighed, turned aside, and spoke remorsefully, ”It’s my fault for failing to manage this brat, allowing him to commit the atrocious act of assaulting someone.”
