A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 900: Chapter 900: Scapegoat

About half an hour later, Jordon arrived near the hotel.

Mu Yan had arranged to meet him at a nearby cafe.

As soon as Jordon entered, he saw the young man sitting beside Mu Yan, and a hint of surprise flashed in his emerald eyes.

”Owen?”

Jiang Jingheng’s handsome face remained calm, his tone cool, ”Jordon?”

”Long time no see.” Jordon chuckled and sat down opposite the two.

Mu Yan looked at Jiang Jingheng, then at Jordon, a bit surprised, ”You know each other?”

”Yeah.” Jiang Jingheng’s expression was indifferent, evidently not the slightest bit pleased to see Jordon as a friend.

Jordon was much warmer, smiling, ”Owen, we old classmates haven’t seen each other for so long, aren’t you being a bit too cold?”

”Classmates?” Mu Yan was even more surprised.

”Yeah, we both studied in the UK before, in the same department,” Jordon replied.

He asked seemingly unintentionally, ”Owen, why did you suddenly come here, is it related to Miss Mu? Are you two dating?”

Jiang Jingheng had no intention of answering, instead indifferently saying, ”Didn’t you say there’s been progress in the case? Have you found out who the mastermind is?”

Jordon collected his expression and said, ”The police’s information is that yesterday’s attempted murder was triggered by an inheritance issue.”

Inheritance? Mu Yan looked at him, puzzled, ”What do you mean?”

Jiang Jingheng was the first to speak, ”Do you mean that yesterday’s incident wasn’t targeting Mu Yan, she was just an unforeseen victim?”

”As sharp as ever, Owen,” Jordon laughed. ”The old lady who was with Miss Mu yesterday is the only surviving daughter of a major Italian tycoon, the first in line for inheritance. Her juniors and nephews were unwilling to let the wealth be monopolized by the old lady, so they plotted the murder, unfortunately dragging Miss Mu into it.”

”You think I’d believe that reason?” Jiang Jingheng said coldly.

Jordon shrugged, looking helpless, ”Whether you believe it or not is up to you, but that’s all the police have found.”

He glanced at Mu Yan and suddenly smiled, ”Miss Mu is really unlucky this time, but I am fortunate.”

”Hmm?” Mu Yan looked at him, puzzled.

Jordon explained, ”If not for this accident, how else would I have met Miss Mu?”

Mu Yan was momentarily speechless, unsure how to respond.

With ordinary people, she could at least give a dry laugh, but this man was her savior.

Beside her, Jiang Jingheng watched Jordon with cold eyes, his handsome face shadowed by metaphorical clouds.

He said indifferently, ”Thank you for saving my wife this time. For the next collaboration case, I’ll offer you a few percentage points as a reward.”

Jordon’s smile instantly cracked as he glanced at Mu Yan, and then at Jiang Jingheng, taking quite a while before tentatively asking, ”You two are... married?”

”Yeah,” Mu Yan said straightforwardly.

The little bit of hope in Jordon’s heart instantly vanished into thin air. He looked at Jiang Jingheng, ”Why haven’t I heard about your marriage?”

Jiang Jingheng said calmly, ”Why should I tell you about my marriage?”

Jordon, ”...”

He gave a dry laugh, ”Owen is as aloof as ever.”

Mu Yan couldn’t help but laugh and asked, ”Did you two use to have a good relationship?”

”Why do you have such a mistaken idea?” Jiang Jingheng frowned and said.

Jordon sighed, ”Owen, you’re too heartless. After all, we were classmates for four years.”

Jiang Jingheng had no desire to entangle with him further, pulling Mu Yan up and saying, ”I’ll investigate this matter myself.”

Jordon’s emerald eyes narrowed slightly, and he said softly, ”You should look into it carefully. After all, to bypass your bodyguards and commit such a crime, it must have taken a lot of effort.”
