A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 338: Chapter 338 The Feeling of Being a Third Wheel

Xu Youxi’s fans sympathized with their idol’s plight and immediately launched an attack on Mu Yan.

”This show originally had only one leading actress, who gave her the face to be a co-lead?”

”How can a newcomer play the lead? Clearly, she’s got a powerful backer, disgusting!”

”Wasn’t it said before that she was expelled for plagiarism? Haha, is someone like this even qualified to be an actress?”

...

The haters never miss a chance, yet Mu Yan acted as if nothing happened and kept on filming.

Unfortunately, her fans couldn’t stand it.

”Those who say my Yan Bao plagiarized probably have no brains. The school admitted they wronged her, yet here you are flaunting your stupidity?”

”Xu Youxi may have played many leading roles, but they were all in terrible films. If she didn’t bring investment into the production, which director would use such a box office poison?!”

”Who says newcomers can’t play the lead? My Yan Bao is beautiful and talented, so what’s wrong with playing the lead? Can you stop the brainless hate?”

...

Mu Yan is not the same as when she first debuted; her Weibo followers have already surpassed ten million.

Conversely, Xu Youxi has only a little over four million followers.

Though Mu Yan hasn’t been in the industry for long, she has won awards for both film and television. Regardless of the award’s significance, it’s still an award.

In contrast, Xu Youxi hasn’t even had a nomination.

So, it’s clear who has more popularity and better acting skills.

Soon after, someone exposed that Xu Youxi was being a diva, had poor acting skills, and bad interpersonal relationships.

Further rumors emerged that Xu Youxi’s family enterprise, the Changfeng Group, was in economic crisis, and without the backing, her lousy acting led to her being dropped from the set.

Xu Youxi’s fans struggled for a while but eventually went silent.

However, the voices claiming that Mu Yan had someone backing her were still around.

Before Mu Yan could send a cease and desist letter, someone already defended her.

Xiang Lanqiu V: A certain journalist spread rumors that Mu Yan was taken advantage of by her agent. I belong to the same company as her. Does this mean I’ve also been taken advantage of? Or is it because I’m not attractive enough that I don’t qualify for that?

As a highly popular actress domestically, even though Xiang Lanqiu temporarily left the entertainment industry for two years, her fans still followed her.

Unwilling to accept that their idol was being questioned, her fans began to confront the journalist.

They dug up the journalist’s history of spreading rumors over the years and criticized him so harshly that he didn’t dare speak.

The rumor online gradually subsided, and this time Mu Yan truly had to treat Xiang Lanqiu to a meal.

It so happened that Xiang Lanqiu was at the film city.

Song Cheng’an took the opportunity to arrange a meeting between the two.

Xiang Lanqiu is from the South and prefers milder flavors.

Song Cheng’an chose a Cantonese restaurant and took Mu Yan to meet her.

In the private room, the three of them sat down.

Xiang Lanqiu wore a nude-colored coat, with her long smooth hair cascading behind her, her face lightly adorned with makeup, appearing very serene.

”Mu Yan, congratulations on winning another award,” Xiang Lanqiu said with a smile.

”Thank you, and thank you, senior, for your support on Weibo,” Mu Yan immediately replied.

”We’re from the same school, no need to be so formal.”

Xiang Lanqiu looked over at Song Cheng’an across the table and teased, ”I’m just afraid someone might really have bad intentions toward you.”

”No, no, Brother Song is not like that,” Mu Yan hastily said.

Song Cheng’an appeared somewhat helpless, ”We haven’t seen each other for so long. Can you not tease me the moment we meet?”

Xiang Lanqiu lightly huffed, ”You never asked me out. How are we supposed to meet?”

Song Cheng’an chuckled, ”Xiang, the Best Actress, is not someone anyone can just ask out. I was scared of being rejected, so I didn’t dare.”

Xiang Lanqiu raised her eyebrows, ”You can try next time.”

Song Cheng’an smiled, shifted the topic, and started discussing recent trends in the film industry with her.

Mu Yan wasn’t familiar with these topics and couldn’t join in the conversation.

Having not met for a long time, the two talked with great interest.

Mu Yan suddenly felt... like a third wheel!

At this moment, she really missed her husband!
