A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 299: Chapter 299: Who Is Harming Her!

Mu Yan turned her head and saw the man with a teasing expression, and her heart skipped a beat.

Oops, she accidentally said something wrong just now.

This guy gets jealous easily, he’s definitely overthinking it.

She hastily said, ”Not that many, just a few people, and I turned them all down.”

”Oh, really?” Jiang Jingheng responded nonchalantly, clearly not believing her words.

Mu Yan thought he was unhappy and continued, ”No matter how many people liked me, I only like you.”

Jiang Jingheng reached out and pinched her cheek, his mouth curling up into a smile, ”I like hearing that.”

Song Cheng’an, ”...”

Damn, can you two stop flirting when we’re talking business? Consider my feelings, okay!

He cleared his throat and said seriously, ”So Mu Yan’s expulsion isn’t as simple as it seems; the school is covering for someone.”

Only then did Mu Yan notice Song Cheng’an was still there, and her face flushed as she had confessed to Jiang Jingheng.

Jiang Jingheng felt the warmth under his fingers and knew she was embarrassed, feeling even more pleased.

He looked at Song Cheng’an, ”Since we know there’s someone behind this, keep investigating, follow the clues, and we’ll find the truth.”

”Alright.” Song Cheng’an nodded and looked at Mu Yan, asking, ”Do you have any suspects?”

Mu Yan shook her head, ”No, I don’t remember offending anyone; of course, it could be someone I unintentionally offended.”

”Forcing the school into expelling you means this person likely has a significant background.” Song Cheng’an furrowed his brow slightly.

Mu Yan suddenly thought of something and asked, ”Are you sure it was Zhou Lifen who spread the plagiarism rumors about me?”

”I haven’t looked into that closely; why did you bring it up suddenly?” Song Cheng’an asked, surprised.

”After the Golden Hair Awards ceremony that day, I met Zhou Lifen in the restroom. She said she didn’t collude with Li Shangjia to spread the plagiarism rumors and claimed I framed her.”

Song Cheng’an furrowed his brow slightly, ”Do you believe her?”

”If she really did it, she wouldn’t bite back at me like this. I think she might not be lying,” Mu Yan answered.

Song Cheng’an asked, ”If it’s not Zhou Lifen, then who could it be? Don’t forget, the person Li Shangjia named was Zhou Lifen.”

”Perhaps Li Shangjia lied,” Mu Yan paused, ”or maybe she doesn’t even know who the mastermind is.”

Song Cheng’an thought for a while and said, ”So, are you saying you suspect the same person is behind both incidents? Otherwise, who would know about your plagiarism and expulsion? And even contact Li Shangjia? I remember the evidence used to accuse you of plagiarism was your expulsion notice, and that’s not easy to get.”

Mu Yan agreed with what he said, and it brought her back to the original question: Who was trying to harm her?

”So the key still lies with the school,” Jiang Jingheng suddenly said.

Song Cheng’an agreed, ”You’re right, I’ll have someone investigate, and of course, we need to question Li Shangjia again.”

He suddenly looked at Jiang Jingheng; could that woman surnamed Li still speak now?

Jiang Jingheng lowered his eyelids and said lightly, ”I’ll arrange it!”

Song Cheng’an nodded, said a few words, and then left.

The ward was left with only Mu Yan and Jiang Jingheng.

Mu Yan looked at the anxious Lian Jun at the door and said, ”You should go to work; you don’t need to stay with me.”

”Being with you is more important!” Jiang Jingheng said calmly.

Mu Yan furrowed her brow slightly, ”I’m not a child; I don’t need you here. Besides, I’m joining a crew next month, and I need to read the script. You’ll distract me if you stay.”

Jiang Jingheng saw her insistence and finally agreed.

In fact, he did have a lot of work to deal with.

Jiang Jingheng walked out of the ward and asked, ”Can that woman surnamed Li still speak?”

Lian Jun replied, ”I’m afraid not.”

”If she can’t speak, let her write.”

Lian Jun hesitated, ”Her hands are useless.”

A fierce glint flashed in Jiang Jingheng’s eyes, ”She can still nod or shake her head, can’t she?”

”Yes!”
