A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 264: Chapter 264: Why Should I Be Expelled!

UK, outside the conference hall.

During a break in the meeting, Jiang Jingheng stepped out to call Mu Yan.

Hearing the heaviness in her voice, he asked, ”What’s wrong with you?”

”Nothing much.”

Jiang Jingheng’s brow furrowed slightly, ”Have you been crying?”

”Yes, the TV drama was so touching, it made me cry. I can’t help it, I have a low threshold for tears.” She said with a hint of a smile.

Jiang Jingheng’s eyes darkened slightly, recalling that not long ago Song Cheng’an mentioned something to him.

On the day her brother had the accident, she didn’t shed a single tear from start to finish, strong like she wasn’t a girl.

He asked, ”Are you at the hospital now?”

”Yes, I haven’t spent time with Mu Chen for several days.”

”Hmm, Song Cheng’an said you’re holding a press conference tomorrow.”

”Why does Brother Song report everything to you? That’s a small matter, you don’t need to worry, just focus on your work.”

Jiang Jingheng said in a deep voice, ”Did you forget what I told you last time? Even the smallest things about you are a big deal to me.”

”Oh.” She responded softly.

Suddenly, both of them fell silent.

No one spoke, and neither wanted to hang up the phone.

Eventually, Mu Yan broke the silence, ”When are you coming back?”

Jiang Jingheng chuckled, ”Do you miss me?”

”Yes.” She said sullenly.

Jiang Jingheng’s gaze deepened, smile fading, ”I will come back as soon as I can.”

”Okay, you go ahead then, I’ve been out long enough, need to go back, otherwise Mu Chen will worry.”

”Rest early.”

The call ended, and Jiang Jingheng turned to walk back to the conference room.

The secretary approached him, asking, ”President, shall we start?”

”Notify everyone immediately that tomorrow’s meeting is moved to today, and also book me a flight back home tonight.”

The secretary was a bit hesitant, ”But tomorrow is the day we negotiate the merger with LCT, this...”

”Tell LCT, if they want to talk, come now, if not, then don’t ever talk about it!” Jiang Jingheng said as he entered the conference hall.

The secretary straightened up, ”Yes!”

He was somewhat puzzled, wondering what had happened.

A night passed, and early the next morning, Song Cheng’an came to pick up Mu Yan for the press conference.

Considering IOC Group was also affected by Mu Yan’s plagiarism scandal, Ning Shishen would appear at the press conference with Mu Yan to clarify their rumors.

In the lounge, Ning Shishen saw Mu Yan enter, nodded, and said, ”Good morning, Miss Mu.”

”Good morning, Mr. Ning, sorry to keep you waiting.” Mu Yan smiled slightly.

”I arrived early.” Ning Shishen noticed she didn’t look well and asked, ”Did you not sleep well last night?”

”Fairly well.” Mu Yan said calmly.

In fact, she had tossed and turned all night, unable to sleep.

Ning Shishen nodded, not asking further.

Soon the reporters were all there, and it was about time, the two entered the venue together.

On stage, Mu Yan and Ning Shishen sat down.

The reporters below aimed their cameras at the two, the sound of shutters clicking constantly.

The host signaled the reporters to stop shooting, then handed the microphone to Ning Shishen.

Ning Shishen stood up and said, ”Today is primarily about Miss Mu, I’m just borrowing the stage to clarify two things.

First, choosing Miss Mu as the spokesperson for IOC’s new product was a decision made after comprehensive consideration of her personal image, popularity, and integrity. There was no favoritism, and facts have proven our decision was correct.

Second, Miss Mu and I are merely friends. There is no involvement of romantic feelings, and I hope the media will not indulge in speculation. Of course, I greatly admire her design talent and hope to have the opportunity to collaborate with her in the future. That’s about it, thank you.”

After he finished, he sat down.

Mu Yan took the microphone, stood up, and looked at the reporters, ”Actually, the reason I invited you all here today is very simple, please help me ask Huamei a question, on what grounds did they expel me back then!”
