A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 255: Chapter 255: Shouldn’t I Be Jealous?

Mu Yan took the invitation that Song Cheng’an handed over. After reading it, a trace of joy appeared in her eyes.

”I can really go?”

”Why not? You might even bring back a trophy.” Song Cheng’an chuckled, ”But the urgent thing now is to deal with the plagiarism accusations and rumors about you.”

Mu Yan looked serious, ”I already have a plan for the plagiarism issue. Do you remember I asked you to look into two people for me?”

”Hmm, I remember.” Song Cheng’an nodded.

”They are my roommates and can prove I didn’t plagiarize.”

Song Cheng’an gave her a look, ”What exactly happened with the plagiarism issue back then?”

Mu Yan’s expression darkened a bit, ”At the time, there was a design contest. My finished work suddenly disappeared, so I had to redraw it. Later, I found out that Li Shangjia submitted a design identical to mine. She submitted first, then accused me of plagiarizing her.”

Song Cheng’an looked at her puzzled, ”But you just said those two roommates know you didn’t plagiarize. Why didn’t they tell the truth?”

Mu Yan smiled wryly, ”I don’t understand either. They clearly saw me draw the design, yet in the end, they said they hadn’t seen it, letting me be wrongly accused, and even added insult to injury.”

Song Cheng’an’s expression changed slightly, ”Do you have a grudge against them?”

”No, I can’t think of any.” Mu Yan shook her head.

Song Cheng’an frowned, ”Then it’s...”

Suddenly, his phone rang.

Mu Yan immediately handed the phone to him.

Song Cheng’an saw it was Jiang Jingheng calling.

”It’s not for me, it’s for you.”

Mu Yan glanced at him, took the phone, and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window to answer it.

”Hello.”

”Is your phone in the room?”

Mu Yan was momentarily stunned, ”Huh? Yeah, did you just call me?”

”Yeah, I saw the rumors online. Don’t mind them, this might be a good chance to clear your name.”

Mu Yan smiled, ”You don’t even know the whole story. How do you know I’m innocent?”

”Don’t need to know. You wouldn’t.”

Mu Yan’s heart seemed to skip a beat, and she instinctively said, ”What?”

”You wouldn’t plagiarize.”

Mu Yan suddenly laughed, but tears glistened in her eyes.

If only she had someone by her side back then who believed in her unconditionally.

Perhaps none of this would have happened.

She whispered, ”It’s good to have you.”

”Don’t think you can get away with this. What’s with Ning Shishen picking a diamond ring for you?”

Mu Yan was momentarily stunned, then intentionally said, ”Didn’t you just say you trust me? Why ask?”

”Except for this matter.”

Mu Yan suppressed her laughter, ”Could it be that you’re jealous?”

”Shouldn’t I be?”

Mu Yan, ”...”

It would be quite reasonable.

She explained what happened in the jewelry store that day and then made a promise.

”I’ll clarify this right away. Don’t be upset.”

After hanging up, Mu Yan returned the phone to Song Cheng’an, ”Brother Song, I want to see those two people.”

”Alright!” Song Cheng’an nodded.

Mu Yan went upstairs to change clothes.

In the apartment, Li Shangjia saw the netizens’ attacks on Mu Yan, her face full of delight.

Mu Yan had been so successful before; now she wanted to see her in distress.

The only thing that disturbed her was the rumor about Mu Yan and Ning Shishen.

She could sense that Ning Shishen had a special regard for Mu Yan.

Moreover, she didn’t think such rumors would harm Mu Yan much; in the entertainment industry, few artists didn’t have backing.

Thinking of this, she dialed a number.

”Why expose the rumor about Mu Yan and Ning Shishen?”

After hearing the person on the other end of the line, her face changed instantly, ”No, I don’t agree.”

Unfortunately, they hung up already. She dialed again, but the line was turned off.

Li Shangjia bit her lip, this wasn’t how it was supposed to go.
