The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 582: Chapter 573: The Stepmother Who Refuses to Be a Stepping Stone 61

Anning entered the restaurant and moved behind a column, leaning on it to think.

The memories of her original body about her younger sister Geng Anyue were not plentiful.

She only knew that her original body got along well with An Yue when they were younger, the sisters loving each other dearly. However, after getting married, they had less contact.

It seemed that Geng Anyue married someone far away, and even her original body could hardly remember where exactly she had married off to. Since Geng Anyue’s marriage, she seldom returned.

Over the years, Geng Anyue only returned two or three times.

Once was when she returned for a visit during the New Year just after her marriage; during that visit, her original body held her sister’s hands and asked if she had been well. Geng Anyue replied she was doing very well, and after her original body asked a few more questions and confirmed that her sister’s life was fine, she felt relieved.

Then there was... another time when it seemed her sister had come back crying.

The last time she saw Geng Anyue was when Liu Shan died. At the time, her original body was heartbroken, and Geng Anyue, having heard of it somehow, rushed back to console her.

Her original body was too grief-stricken to pay much attention to Geng Anyue.

Instead, Anning could see from those memories that Geng Anyue looked terribly unwell at that time.

Geng Anyue must have been frighteningly thin, with a particularly miserable expression.

Afterwards, the memories of the original body no longer mentioned Geng Anyue.

There was, yes, only one letter from Geng Anyue received three years after her original body married Li Zhifang. The letter stated that their family was moving again, further away, and that they probably wouldn’t have time to come back in the future, asking her original body to take care of herself.

Though her original body was saddened by the thought that she might not see her sister again, she was consoled thinking her sister was living well.

At that time, her life with Li Zhifang was also very troubled, naturally leaving no room to care for her sister.

But now, Anning thought, that letter was clearly a suicide note.

It must have been Geng Anyue, knowing she wouldn’t live long, forcing herself to write that final letter to her original body.

She feared that her original body would search for her, and knowing about her death would bring heartache, so she lied about moving away, asking her original body not to seek her out.

Anning had always overlooked Geng Anyue before.

Truly, there were far too few memories about Geng Anyue in her original body, and none of them involved Geng Anyue suffering, recalling Geng Anyue brought peace of mind.

Now it seems, Geng Anyue’s situation was not good.

The well-being she spoke of before was definitely a deception; in fact, Geng Anyue was not well at all.

Anning rubbed her temples, feeling heavy-hearted and somewhat unwell.

Perhaps it was some residual feelings from this body acting up.

Probably because Anning had guessed Geng Anyue’s actual situation, which triggered some lingering emotions of her original body.

It appeared, the relationship between her original body and Geng Anyue was very good indeed.

Anning checked the time. There was still a while before the families met. Taking this opportunity, Anning went to a quiet little room in the restaurant’s backyard to sit cross-legged.

Anning wanted to understand Geng Anyue’s actual situation better; also, she felt that her original body’s story wasn’t so simple.

When she first arrived, she thought this task wasn’t difficult and had not communicated with the Heavenly Dao of this world. Now, Anning wanted to communicate with the Law of this world to see what kind of world this truly was.

She quickly communicated with the Law of this world.

This world was not powerful; the Law also appeared very weak, shivering slightly under the great Divine Soul strength Anning deliberately released.

Anning first soothed the Heavenly Dao Laws, and then she clarified the situation of this small world.

After finding out, Anning was somewhat amused yet upset.

This world turned out to be a mixed small world, an amalgamation of many worlds.

And, all these worlds were from literary works.

Firstly, the body Anning inhabited itself was meant to be a minor character, and so were her children.

This is a book about the changing times, with the main characters being the Li family.

All the Li brothers are talented and have strived in the tides of the times, ultimately achieving certain success.

But Anning is just a minor character.

She is the wife married later by Li Lao Si, depicted in the book as somewhat foolish and venomous, treating the children of Li Lao Si’s ex-wife poorly, and being short-sighted, making many mistakes, and ultimately meeting a bad end.

And Wang Baozhu is just a supporting female character, whose end is not very good either.

In contrast, Li Jinghan, the son of Wang Baozhu, later achieves success.

And Li Jinghan is the protagonist of another story.

That’s a short novel where Li Jinghan is a genius, a top student and campus heartthrob during his school days, and he meets a girl in university and develops a pure campus romance with her.

But the girl is vain and despises Li Jinghan for not being able to provide the life she wants, and dumps him at graduation.

When Li Jinghan becomes successful and finds his true love, the girl comes back trying to salvage their lost love.

But Li Jinghan no longer loves her, and she hates the girl that Li Jinghan later falls in love with, trying all ways to sabotage them, and eventually gets discarded by Li Jinghan.

Besides such a main story and a short novel, this world also intertwines other stories, which are quite chaotic.

Anning only focuses on these two stories because one of them involved her original self, and the cannon fodder female supporting character in the other story, Li Jinghan’s first love, is the daughter of Anning’s sister Anyue, her niece, who also has another identity as Xiao Yuan’s adopted daughter.

The narrative doesn’t elaborate much on the background of Anyue’s daughter, just that her personality isn’t great, definitely the scheming type, while the girl that Li Jinghan later loves is genuinely pure and beautiful.

After Anning finishes these stories, she has countless curse words in her mind.

What the hell is all this, it seems her whole family and relatives are just stepping stones in others’ paths to success.

Meanwhile, she truly learns that Geng Anyue is indeed dead, and that she was killed by someone.

Anning squints her eyes.

Not knowing might have been better, but now that she knows, she definitely wants to seek revenge for Geng Anyue.

Anning stays sitting in the small room for a while before coming out.

When she arrives in the front hall, she happens to meet Li Zhiyuan and others.

”Big brother.”

Anning goes over with a smile.

Li Zhiyuan also smiles: ”Fourth sister, you’re here. Go to the Mei Room first, I will be there shortly.”

When Anning arrives at the Mei Room, Li Zhipeng and Li Zhicheng are already seated there.

Anning goes over to sit and talks with the two.

Li Zhipeng pours a glass of water for Anning, and she smiles and accepts it: ”Thank you, second brother.”

While they were talking, Li Zhiyuan arrives with the family of his prospective in-laws.

Anning and the others quickly get up to greet them.

Meanwhile, Anning sizes up the family of Li Jingming’s fiancée.

It’s said that Li Jingming’s fiancée surnamed Lu, her family is from the county, seems to have good conditions, and the family is quite simple, the young girl appears very pure.

But Anning notices that this young girl might not be as innocent as she seems.

Li Zhiyuan, with a smile on his face, introduces everyone to Anning and the rest: ”Brother Lu, this is my second brother, this is my third brother, this is my fourth sister, this is Fifth, this is Lao Liu...”

Then he points to the young girl and says, ”This is Lu Yi.”

Anning and the others go over with smiles to greet them, and then the group sits down.

Lu Yi’s mother, Lan Cui, happens to sit next to Anning; next to her is Lu Yi, then Lu Yi’s father Lu Fu, on the other side there are two matchmakers invited by the families, everyone calls her Aunt Wu.
