The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 565: Chapter 556: The Stepmother Who Refuses to Be a Stepping Stone 44

Wang Baozhu was chatting leisurely with a few women at the entrance of the village.

She was dressed particularly delicately, with her eyebrows drawn in, eyes made up, and even wearing lipstick, her hair also curled beautifully.

However, this appearance did not conform to the aesthetic standards of the countryside.

The countryside values simplicity, and the people of Li Jiazhuang are particularly conservative; no woman there wears makeup, and with Wang Baozhu wearing makeup, she particularly stood out, in a way that was bothersome to others.

Privately, those rural women all said that Wang Baozhu’s lips were painted a bright red, as if she had eaten a dead child.

Anyway, when it came to Wang Baozhu, not many people had good things to say, they also said Anning was a good person who had bad luck, working hard for several years, raising the children, but as soon as Wang Baozhu returned, she drove her out.

In any case, most people sympathized with Anning.

And yet, at such a time, Wang Baozhu spoke ill of Anning.

She brought half a pound of sunflower seeds over, asking everyone to eat them together, and while eating the seeds, Wang Baozhu started talking.

”Some people, even having their own children, still cling to someone else’s children and won’t let go, calling our Jingyu and Jing Yan all day long, who knows what she’s teaching them on the phone, making them not even want their own mother anymore.”

”I heard that surname Geng is now in Provincial City, what does a woman alone rely on to earn money? It’s not easy for her supporting three children, I did want Zhifang to lend her a hand, but she refuses everything, it leaves others to think negatively, who knows, maybe she’s earning money that no decent person should.”

None of the women eating sunflower seeds wanted them anymore.

Some left quietly, while a few others curled their lips: ”We don’t mind when others talk about Anning this and that, but aren’t you ashamed to say these words? We all know what kind of person you are, you can’t conduct yourself properly and now start slandering a good person, we live in the same village, seeing each other every day, don’t we know what Anning is like? Is there a need for you to blabber nonsense here?”

Wang Baozhu was left blushing by the rebukes from the few women.

”I did do wrong things in the past, but I’ve changed now, it’s not right to be forever criticized for one wrong thing, besides, the children are mine biologically, was it easy for me to give birth and raise them, to now accept this thief as their mother, and even my mother-in-law is really not proper, does my son lack a father or a mother, can we not support him ourselves? She just wants to take everything in her hands, ultimately, isn’t it just to throw dirt on me.”

Just then, Zhang Fengfeng brought a tea jar of water to find someone to chat with, and she couldn’t help overhearing these words, immediately dousing Wang Baozhu with the hot water.

”Wang Baozhu, have you no shame, have you no shame.”

Zhang Fengfeng didn’t bother with her tea jar anymore, she went over and held Wang Baozhu down to hit her: ”My own grandson, why can’t I raise him, why shouldn’t I raise him, if the child didn’t have a mother like you, if Anning was still at home, would I find myself this trouble? It’s all because of those disgraceful things you did, I had no choice but to take the child.”

Zhang Fengfeng got angrier as she spoke, directly revealing Wang Baozhu’s scandals: ”Don’t think I don’t know that you weren’t proper when you first married Lao Si, sneaking around with someone, I kept silent out of consideration for your dignity, you should not be shameless, and also, you just came back and made Lao Si sell the house, do you think the houses in Provincial City are easy to buy, that’s right next to Provincial First Middle School, now there’s no telling how many people with cash in hand queueing up trying to buy yet can’t get it, when Anning was here, she planned it all so well, and in a few years bought homes for the children, but you, you’ve ruined my son’s home as soon as you arrived, just squandering his richness.”

A few women sat under the shade of a tree watching this spectacle as if watching a farce, not one of them took Wang Baozhu’s side.

Why should they help her?

She never helped anyone else, whereas when Anning was in the village and saw someone in difficulty, she would always give them a hand, everyone feels indignant for Anning, Wang Baozhu just ran into this, they would have been considered kind not to gang up and beat her, who out of their right mind would help her?

Although Wang Baozhu was much younger than Zhang Fengfeng, she hadn’t worked these years, no match for Zhang Fengfeng who worked all day long.

Zhang Fengfeng’s hands were truly powerful; when she beat Wang Baozhu, it was so painful that Baozhu screamed in agony.

Later, it was Li Zhifang who came over and managed to rescue Wang Baozhu from Zhang Fengfeng’s clutches.

”What gives you the right to hit me?”

Wang Baozhu, pained, embarrassed, and furious, hid behind Li Zhifang, jumping and shouting at Zhang Fengfeng: ”I’m telling you, Zhifang and I haven’t even registered for marriage, you are not my mother-in-law yet, you have no right to hit me, if you hit me again I will sue you...”

”Go ahead and sue, I dare you to sue...”

Zhang Fengfeng, livid with anger, didn’t care whether Li Zhifang was present or not, took off her shoe and threw it at Wang Baozhu. Baozhu dodged, and the shoe ended up hitting Li Zhifang’s face, leaving a big shoe print on his face.

Zhang Fengfeng, unconcerned about Li Zhifang’s feelings, jumped over, put on her shoe, spat, and left.

After this incident, Wang Baozhu grew even more resentful towards Anning.

When more fish were sold from the fish pond, Wang Baozhu asked Li Zhifang for some money, saying she wanted to visit the Provincial City.

Thinking that Wang Baozhu had been wronged, Li Zhifang felt it would be good for her to relax a bit, so he gave her some money.

Taking the money, Baozhu went to the Provincial City, rented a camera from a photo studio, then secretly found where Anning was staying. She hid for several days, secretly taking many photos of Anning.

Then, Wang Baozhu took these photos and sought out some shady characters in the Provincial City, those who typically engage in dubious business, such as framing others, tarnishing reputations, and debt-collecting.

She approached these people to photoshop the pictures, superimposing Anning’s face onto some compromising photos.

Wang Baozhu had done such things in her previous life.

Back then, she was with a wealthy boss, but when he took a younger mistress who eventually got pregnant, he started to ignore her.

Baozhu harbored a grudge against the mistress and sought revenge; she also had others photoshop the mistress’s photos.

At that time, people didn’t know much about photo manipulation; the wealthy boss, being uneducated, was even less aware.

Wang Baozhu showed the doctored photos to the boss, who truly believed his mistress was cheating on him with a younger man. In a fit of rage, he caused the mistress to lose her unborn child, and the mistress ended up with a tragic fate.

Having become experienced in such matters, Wang Baozhu, resenting Anning and determined to destroy her, decided to ruin Anning’s reputation by using this method.

As long as Anning lost her good reputation, the villagers would scold her, the Li family would no longer sympathize with her plight, and even the children would distance themselves from Anning.
