The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 297: Chapter 294: Cinderella’s Comeback 39

Wu Lina’s laugh was as refreshing as the spring breeze.

Anning could tell at a glance that this girl was truly smitten.

She sighed gently and waved at Wu Lina as she walked away.

Recently, the bun shop had been extremely busy, and Mr. Gu hadn’t had time to pick up Anning.

Mainly because Mr. Gu knew that Anning was doing well at First Middle School; her classmates were kind to her and she hadn’t been bullied, so he felt relieved.

Anning walked a distance and then saw a black sedan following her.

After the car window rolled down, Anning saw Xiao Yuan waving at her.

She hurried over: ”You’re back.”

Xiao Yuan smiled and said, ”Get in.”

Anning opened the door and got into the car: ”When did you get back?”

”Just now.”

Xiao Yuan took Anning’s backpack, placed it to the side, and then drove home.

Anning looked at Xiao Yuan and noticed he had lost a lot of weight and had dark circles under his eyes.

Looking at his hands on the steering wheel, his finger joints were distinct, but the veins on the back of his hands were visible, and his skin also seemed rather dry.

She knew that Xiao Yuan must have been incredibly busy recently, and he probably didn’t even sleep much last night.

Yet despite being so busy and tired, he came to pick her up first thing upon his return instead of resting.

Anning knew that Xiao Yuan liked her.

But at this moment, she truly understood how deep Xiao Yuan’s love for her was.

No matter how many lifetimes they went through, regardless of whether Xiao Yuan remembered her or not, whenever he met her, he would fall in love with her and do everything he could just to see her safe and happy.

Anning felt a warm sensation in her heart, and her eyes welled up with slight acidity.

She hadn’t felt this way in a long time.

She thought about the many lifetimes and countless things shared with Xiao Yuan.

As a Divine Doctor his help to her, the doting and protection when he was Prince Jin, even when he became a moody teenager, he would still strive to better himself, to follow in her steps for her sake.

Thinking of these things, Anning looked at Xiao Yuan and asked, ”Do you like me?”

The car made a harsh sound.

That was the sound of an emergency stop, tires sliding across the ground.

Xiao Yuan suddenly stopped the car and turned to look at Anning.

His expression was uneasy, his eyes filled with fear: ”I...”

He didn’t know what to say.

He was really scared.

Afraid that if he confessed his feelings, Anning might not only reject him but might also choose to stay far away from him afterwards.

And if he said he didn’t like her, he couldn’t bring himself to say it.

Anning suddenly smiled: ”So do you like me or not? Anyway, I quite like you. If you like me too, then let’s start dating. If you don’t, then... I won’t disturb you in the future.”

”Like, I like you.”

Xiao Yuan almost thought he was dreaming.

His voice was very husky as he said he liked her.

Anning’s face was adorned with a particularly sweet smile, her eyes shrewdly gleaming, her lips curved upwards in a delightful way, her tender and soft demeanor nearly made Xiao Yuan lose control and hold her in his arms.

”Then let’s start dating.”

Anning extended her hand: ”Please take good care of me, boyfriend.”

Xiao Yuan almost immediately grabbed Anning’s hand. The soft and smooth feel let him know he wasn’t dreaming; Anning really accepted him.

At that moment, Xiao Yuan heard the sound of blossoming in his heart.

”Alright.”

He held Anning’s hand, not wanting to let go.

Anning tugged hard at her hand and pointed with the other one at the steering wheel: ”Drive.”

Xiao Yuan finally came back to his senses and quickly let go of Anning, focusing on driving again.

But the upward curve of his mouth and the gleam in his eyes repeatedly indicated how good his mood was.

The car entered the residential area and stopped in the garage.

Anning didn’t get out of the car, instead she asked Xiao Yuan, ”How do we count this?”

”What?”

Xiao Yuan was a bit slow in catching up with Anning’s thoughts.

Anning pouted slightly with a hint of coyness, ”Are you chasing me, or am I chasing you?”

Xiao Yuan’s survival instinct was quite strong as he hurriedly said, ”Of course, I’m chasing you. It’s definitely me chasing you.”

Anning then smiled, ”Alright then, I’ll reluctantly accept you.”

She pushed the door and got out of the car.

But Xiao Yuan grabbed her in one go.

Xiao Yuan couldn’t restrain himself any longer, tightly holding Anning in his embrace.

He bowed his head, smelling the fragrance from Anning’s hair, feeling the petite person in his arms, and felt that this moment was complete.

Anning was held by Xiao Yuan for a long time, feeling almost breathless.

Moreover, in the cramped space of the car, being embraced like this always felt a bit... slightly shy.

It’s rare for this millennia-old demon to feel shy.

She felt the temperature inside the car rising, causing her cheeks to feel somewhat hot.

”I, I need to go home to do homework.”

Anning pushed Xiao Yuan away, her face flushed and even more adorable.

Xiao Yuan smiled, got out of the car, and held Anning’s hand all the way.

Instead of going back to his own home, he went to Anning’s home with her.

Mr. Gu and Mrs. Gu were not home yet.

When Anning and Xiao Yuan entered, Xiao Yuan told Anning to do her homework, while he took care of cooking.

Anning sized up Xiao Yuan, ”Can you cook?”

Xiao Yuan grabbed an apron and entered the kitchen, ”Why not try and see?”

Anning shook her head and went to the study to do her homework.

In the study, Anning asked An Xin, ”How are things going with Ren Jiayao?”

An Xin reported truthfully, ”She went to the Qin Family seeking help, but Mrs. Qin picked another girl for Qin Minghao, He Zhizhi from the neighboring province. Ren Jiayao couldn’t stay at the Qin Family so she went back, and later got a scolding from her mom.”

Anning laughed, ”Give the materials for framing Zhao to Jiayao’s dad, let him think that the company collapsed because of Zhao Haichao. Because Zhao Haichao likes Jiayao and targeted the Ren Family to get her, he plans to wait until the Ren Family is bankrupt, and Jiayao, powerless, has to rely on him.”

An Xin didn’t know how to respond to Anning.

This person was still as petty and vengeful as ever.

Mr. Gu and Mrs. Gu were quite surprised when they got home.

They did not expect to see Xiao Yuan in their house.

And Xiao Yuan was actually cooking.

”Where is Ningning?”

Mr. Gu asked as he set down his bag.

Xiao Yuan, holding a plate of food, replied, ”She’s doing her homework. I saw her busy studying, so I helped to cook. Uncle, you won’t mind me using your kitchen, right?”

Mr. Gu quickly said, ”Not at all, not at all. But you are a guest, how can we have you cook?”

Mrs. Gu also said with a smile, ”Yes, quickly, sit down and rest. I’ll take care of the rest.”

Xiao Yuan glanced back, ”Just one more soup to go, Uncle and Aunt, please take a seat and rest for a while.”

He turned back into the kitchen and soon had four dishes and one soup ready.

Moreover, Xiao Yuan even specifically went to the study to call Anning for dinner.

Mr. Gu frowned.

Mrs. Gu gently tugged on Mr. Gu’s sleeve, ”Why do I feel this is so awkward?”

Mr. Gu whispered in Mrs. Gu’s ear, ”I think there’s something going on, let’s eat first and talk later.”
