The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 159: Chapter 158: Slapping the Fake Heiress 59

In the VIP seats, Xiao Hongyi whispered to Xiao Yuan, ”Are you satisfied now?”

Xiao Yuan kept a stern face: ”It’s alright.”

Xiao Hongyi chuckled and cursed: ”You little brat.”

Tian Mei smiled at Xiao Yuan: ”Yuan Yuan, what exactly is this robotics competition about? Can you explain it to me?”

Zhao Han and Song Ruyi also pricked up their ears to listen.

Xiao Yuan had really done his homework.

He talked about everything from the rules of the competition to champions of the previous years, as well as the various types of robots and so on.

Tian Mei listened very attentively, asking questions occasionally to show her support.

Song Ruyi and Zhao Mingrui had also done their research, but it wasn’t as detailed as Xiao Yuan’s.

They too listened very earnestly.

When Xiao Yuan nearly finished explaining, Zhang Ke rushed over in a hurry, and after sitting down, he also started to enthusiastically discuss the history of the robotics competition once he heard Xiao Yuan mention it.

Soon, the competition began.

First, the contestants appeared with their robots and greeted the audience.

All other contestants were in teams, and their robots were the crystallization of the team’s efforts, only Anning was alone.

Zhao Han was a bit worried: ”Won’t our Ningning be at a disadvantage by herself? Ningning is so young, and everyone else is older than her. Isn’t it a bit too much for her to command a robot alone...”

Zhang Ke waved his hand dismissively: ”Uncle, just relax. Zhao Batian is no ordinary robot; it’s really powerful. Other robots are just meals delivered to its doorstep.”

But Zhao Han still couldn’t ease his worries.

Meanwhile, Xiao Yuan and Zhao Mingrui had started feeling uncomfortable with each other, getting into a disagreement.

The cause of their quarrel was because they each had their own opinions about which robots could potentially make it into the finals.

They had a brief argument over the robots they each favored.

Zhang Ke lowered his head and snickered to himself, silently mockingly thinking Xiao Yuan was naive, daring to argue with his future brother-in-law, without fearing that Zhao Mingrui might trip him up in the future.

Then, Xiao Hongyi pulled Xiao Yuan aside and whispered in his ear: ”Alright, let’s give in a bit to him.”

Xiao Hongyi also gave Xiao Yuan a meaningful look towards Anning: ”That’s Anning’s brother.”

Xiao Yuan suddenly realized Zhao Mingrui’s identity, and immediately felt deep regret.

Tian Mei covered her mouth to hide a giggle.

She had noticed that ever since Xiao Yuan fell for Anning, he seemed not to be as repulsive towards her, and the atmosphere at home had improved a lot.

One could say that because of Anning, Xiao Yuan had reined in all his thorns.

Tian Mei quite liked this change.

Chen Ke’er rolled her eyes at Xiao Yuan and said lowly: ”Idiot.”

Tian Mei quickly went to tug at Chen Ke’er: ”What are you saying, that’s your brother.”

”Like I...” Chen Ke’er wanted to say she didn’t have such a brother, but then Tian Mei gave her a warning glance, and Chen Ke’er felt wronged and upset, so she fell silent and stopped talking.

Instead, it was Song Ruyi sitting next to Chen Ke’er who smiled and said a few words to her, which somewhat improved Chen Ke’er’s mood.

The competition officially started soon after.

The robots in the combat category were the first to compete.

The first one to appear was a robot named Red Fox.

This robot was completely red and looked very pretty.

It seemed that Zhang Ke had seen the information about Red Fox, as he said with a smile: ”This Red Fox is pretty powerful. It was made by a second-year high school student from the Science and Technology School. Don’t be fooled by its small size and cute appearance; its combat ability is top-notch. It is not heavy and has great jumping power. Moreover, it possesses strong lateral cutting abilities, making it offensive and defensive, and very difficult to deal with.”

The opponent facing Red Fox was a robot called Golden Hammer.

The most distinctive feature of this robot was its very heavy hammer.

The robot was tall, with its hammer held high; if that heavy hammer struck down, it could instantly put the opposing robot out of commission.

The host pushed the start button, and both Red Fox and Golden Hammer started to be on their guard.

First, they circled each other, probing for weaknesses.

Suddenly, Golden Hammer maneuvered behind Red Fox, and the hammer came down without mercy.

”Ah...”

Song Ruyi was so startled she couldn’t help but let out a scream.

It wasn’t just her; many in the audience also began to exclaim.

Song Ruyi clenched Zhao Han’s hand tightly, looking particularly nervous.

She had been rooting for Red Fox from the start and didn’t want to see Red Fox scrapped.

Red Fox was also quite alert, with a fierce leap, it dodged Golden Hammer’s attack and then counterattacked at Golden Hammer’s lower body.

Xiao Yuan and Zhao Mingrui were also made sweaty by the tense atmosphere of the arena.

At this moment, they truly appreciated the charm of a robot competition.

Soon, Red Fox landed an attack on Golden Hammer, and Song Ruyi and Tian Mei cheered together.

With a smash from Golden Hammer, Zhao Han and Xiao Hongyi cheered together.

The two sides fought fiercely, with Xiao Yuan, Zhao Mingrui, Zhang Ke, and Chen Ke’er cheering together.

Then, the parents from both sides clapped with the four kids together.

This battle ultimately ended with Golden Hammer’s victory.

Tian Mei and Song Ruyi felt a bit upset in their hearts.

However, another battle between robots soon drew their attention again.

It wasn’t until Anning’s Zhao Batian took the stage that the four adults and four children all stood up to applaud.

Especially for the three members of the Zhao Family, their palms were all red from clapping so hard.

And Xiao Yuan and Zhang Ke also stood up. The two of them shouted wildly, ”Go Zhao Batian, Zhao Batian will win, Zhao Batian is mighty...”

When they shouted, instantly more people in the stands stood up.

These were all classmates from Class Twelve.

With Gao Nana, Dong Xue, Qi Feng, Cheng Xiaofei, and so on.

Xiao Yuan was still in his eccentric outfit today, with bright Red hair.

Zhang Ke had a colorful wig forced on him by Xiao Yuan, and although he wanted to take it off, Xiao Yuan wouldn’t allow it, so he had no choice but to wear it.

And Gao Nana and the other classmates, feeling obliged to cheer for Anning, naturally dolled themselves up as well.

They wore what they considered their most attractive clothes, with all sorts of eccentric outfits making an appearance. The girls drew heavy eyeliner and wore lipstick in various colors.

Colors like deathly Barbie pink, heavy metal shades, deep purples, blood reds - in a word, quite striking.

Their hair also came in various colors.

Purple, blue, grandma gray, pink, red...

In short, when this group of kids stood up, they were even more eye-catching than the robots in the arena.

All the focus of the arena was on these kids.

They were exceedingly proud of themselves.

One by one, they picked up light boards from their seats and raised them.

These were expensive light boards they had made, particularly dazzling.

Xiao Yuan also raised a light board.

His light board was filled with the flavor of money, looking particularly luxurious.

The light board was inlaid with diamonds, and the characters on it were especially shiny.

Xiao Hongyi covered his face, unable to watch.

”Go Anning, Zhao Batian will win...”

Xiao Yuan shouted wildly.

When he shouted, the classmates from Class Twelve also shouted, ”Go Anning, Zhao Batian will win...”

These second-year-syndrome kids.

The audience in the stands couldn’t help but burst into laughter at the sight, lightening the tense atmosphere following the competition.

If it were someone else, seeing so many people with strange outfits and second-year-syndrome behavior cheering for her, they might feel embarrassed, perhaps even angry.

But Anning wouldn’t.

She had been through too much and had long become indifferent to many things. In her view, these actions meant nothing—she was instead moved by everyone’s sincere support for her.

Anning stood up, smiling and waving towards Xiao Yuan and the Class Twelve classmates.

”Ah ah...”

Gao Nana hugged Dong Xue: ”Anning smiled, she’s waving at us, her smile is so cute.”

”Yes, Anning has such a sweet smile, she’s sure to win this time.”
