Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 1238: Chapter 568: Team Rocket, Calyrex, and the Four Calamities Compete for Sheep Milk

Giovanni?

Seeing who it was, Naoki’s first reaction was that the man had found out Mewtwo was here and had come to recapture it.

But when Naoki heard what Giovanni actually said, he froze for a moment.

Giovanni fixed him with those hawk-like eyes.

“Looks like you still remember me,” he said.

“So Giovanni didn’t come for Mewtwo,” Naoki thought.

After a brief moment of reflection, he calmed down and said politely, “Hello, Mr. Giovanni. You just said you wanted to discuss opening Dragonite delivery service in the Kanto Region?”

Giovanni nodded slightly. “That’s right. Dragonite is an extremely fast Pokemon, very suitable to work as couriers. They have limitless prospects. On behalf of Silph Co., I’m willing to put up fifty million League credits to apply for opening Dragonite Delivery in Kanto and Johto Regions.”

Giovanni looked very sincere.

However, Naoki still felt something was off; doubts lingered in his heart.

Given Giovanni’s status and position, Dragonite Delivery probably doesn’t even count as much to him, does it?

And yet right now, he had personally come to the ranch, wanting Dragonite Delivery to unlock Kanto and Johto…

Weird. Way too weird.

“I wonder if Mr. Giovanni knows the reason I still haven’t unlocked delivery service in Kanto and Johto,” Naoki asked back.

Giovanni nodded. “Of course. If I’m not mistaken, you’re worried the evil organizations and Pokemon Hunters in those two regions might hurt your Dragonite, right?”

Naoki neither confirmed nor denied it. “Team Rocket’s name is known even in the Paldea Region. I’ve heard that organization specializes in snatching Trainers’ Pokemon, and they’ll even sneak into the Pokemon Center to steal Pokemon that are in treatment.”

Giovanni: “…”

He fell silent for a moment, then spoke. “You can rest assured. I can guarantee the Dragonite will be safe and sound.”

Naoki raised an eyebrow, a bit surprised. “You know Team Rocket?”

“Of course I don’t.” Giovanni’s expression didn’t change. “I’m on very good terms with the local League officers. I can ask them to look after your Dragonite, thereby ensuring nothing happens to them.”

Naoki: “…” Now he’s pretending?

That made it feel even more wrong. Why was Giovanni so fixated on getting Dragonite Delivery opened in the Kanto and Johto Regions?

If Naoki didn’t know Giovanni’s true identity and how deeply Team Rocket had infiltrated those two regions, he might have agreed.

But the problem is, even though Giovanni is a very charismatic and ambitious villain, Naoki still doesn’t like him, because he really despises that kind of Pokemon-snatching behavior.

More importantly, Mewtwo doesn’t like Giovanni. It hates Team Rocket. If Mewtwo found out he was working with someone like Giovanni, it would surely be disappointed in him, wouldn’t it?

With that in mind, Naoki directly rejected Giovanni’s proposal for cooperation.

“Better safe than sorry. I’ve heard Team Rocket’s influence is spread all through Kanto and Johto. Before their boss is arrested and the organization disbands, I will not consider opening delivery service in those two regions.”

Giovanni: “…”

“So please go back,” Naoki said.

Regret showed on Giovanni’s face. “I understand. This is my phone number. If you need anything in future, you can contact me anytime.”

As he spoke, Giovanni handed over a business card.

He was still maintaining his persona as a young entrepreneur.

Naoki reached out and took it, planning to throw it away as soon as Giovanni left.

Right then, he heard Giovanni ask about something else.

“By the way, I heard you have a kind of sheep milk here that can instantly heal a Pokemon’s injuries. May I take some back?”

Sheep milk? He means Life Sheep Milk, right?

Naoki nodded. “Of course. But each person is limited to one bottle per day.”

Limited? Giovanni frowned slightly.

“What if I offer a higher price?” he asked.

“Nope!” Naoki still shook his head. “Even if a Champion came here, it would still be limited purchase.”

Come on, Geeta had her eye on his Life Sheep Milk a long time ago and wanted to buy in bulk, and he still turned her down.

Let alone Giovanni.

Giovanni: “…”

For a Trainer of that caliber to have his own temper and rules was understandable.

“In that case, I won’t trouble you any further.” Giovanni reverted to that elite air again.

He turned and left the ranch. On his way back to Kanto in his private jet, his secretary Matori called via video.

“How did it go, boss?”

As soon as he got on the plane, Giovanni completely changed. His whole aura shifted from that of a young entrepreneur to that of a scheming crime boss.

Half his face was shrouded in shadow, his mouth a straight line, making it impossible to read his mood.

A pity.

From that brief conversation, Giovanni had seen the man’s character clearly.

That Trainer named Naoki was the same type as Lance: hateful of evil, kind and just…

A talent like that could never join Team Rocket. If the man were willing, Giovanni wouldn’t have minded making him Team Rocket’s second-in-command, beneath one man and above ten thousand, conquering the world at his side.

“Boss?” Seeing Giovanni silent for so long, Matori asked, puzzled.

“Mm.” Giovanni was terse. “He refused to cooperate with me.”

Hearing this, Matori frowned. That guy actually dared to make their boss eat dirt.

“Who is he, to dare refuse you!” a male voice suddenly came from the other end of the call.

“Archer? What are you doing there?” Giovanni looked up.

“I came to HQ to report on the situation in the Sevii Islands,” Archer continued. “Boss, tell me who that guy is, and let me go teach him a lesson for you!”
