Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 330: Chapter 219: The Wandering Pokemon

”Eh? Mr. Naoki, why are you here?”

At that moment, Miss Joy noticed Naoki and Koraidon standing to the side.

Joy knew Naoki because the Naoki Ranch was a well-known place in this seaside town, and she had previously gone there to check on the Gogoat’s health.

Through repeated interactions, she became acquainted with this young, gentle rancher.

Naoki explained, ”The ranch is nearby, so I came to help.”

The tall and sturdy firefighter captain said to Joy, ”This fire was brought under control so quickly, thanks to Naoki.”

Miss Joy looked bewildered.

After Miss Jenny explained the situation, she reacted, ”Oh?”

So Mr. Naoki is such an amazing Trainer, Joy thought to herself.

Initially surprised, she then remembered the three Gogoat with an overflowing Grass Type Energy she saw at the ranch last time, and suddenly it didn’t seem so strange.

After a brief chat, everyone again turned their gaze to the rain-shrouded mountains in the distance.

Miss Jenny frowned, her naturally stern face appearing even more imposing.

The firefighter captain and crew also wore worried expressions, ready to move into the mountains to start rescue operations as soon as the fire was completely extinguished.

Miss Joy clasped her hands together in a prayer position, ”I hope the Pokemon living in the mountains are unharmed...”

There’s still some time before the rain stops.

The crowd, looking weary, gathered under the canopy to rest.

Naoki sat beside Koraidon, scanning the world’s firefighting team in front of him.

As he expected, this world’s firefighting team is composed of humans and Water Type Pokemon.

Among them were familiar Golduck, Poliwhirl evolved from Poliwag, the adorable Quagsire, the blank-eyed Slowbro, and the fierce-looking Gyarados...

Naoki also saw a familiar Pokemon among them, the Quaquaval that often visited his tavern for drinks.

Miss Jenny, standing nearby, noticed his expression and said:

”Some of these Pokemon are wild, and after the fire brigade rescued them, they stayed on to help with the work.”

Naoki nodded and began discussing the upcoming rescue operation with Miss Jenny.

”Once the rain stops, you plan to go in to help the wild Pokemon, right?”

Miss Jenny nodded affirmatively, ”For this magnitude of a fire, it’s impossible for the Pokemon to overcome the disaster on their own, and nature takes time to recover to its original state, so human intervention is vital.”

Naoki initially considered mentioning Calyrex but thought better of it, since he couldn’t guarantee Calyrex’s presence yet, and changed the topic.

”I have a large stockpile of Berries at my ranch. If supplies for the rescue are insufficient, feel free to contact me.”

It’s something he could help with, even just a little.

Hearing this, Miss Jenny was slightly surprised before she smiled:

”Thank you, but you’ve already been of great help. The Paldea League will provide us with rescue supplies, and it feels like Chief Champion Geeta might also come over!”

Geeta...

Naoki noticed the admiration in Miss Jenny’s tone and thought, the people of Paldea likely really admire this Chief Champion?

At this moment, Miss Jenny’s Growlithe let out a pitiful Growl.

Naoki turned his head to see the fluffy Growlithe soaked by rain, its paws covered in mud.

Sitting dejectedly beside Miss Jenny, it lowered its head to look at its muddy self.

Naoki couldn’t help but comfort it, ”Don’t be sad. Once everything is done, we can wash you clean.”

Growlithe looked up at him, then happily barked twice, ”Woof woof!”

”It really likes you!” Miss Jenny was somewhat surprised.

Naoki thought for a moment and said, ”Perhaps it’s because I treated it to some Berry Milk?”

Growlithe enthusiastically wagged its tail, ”Woof woof!”

Seeing this, Naoki felt a pang in his heart.

The warm, fluffy, and friendly Growlithe made him really want to have one.

However, Growlithe Pokémon seem to belong uniquely to the Jenny family.

In this world, Growlithe and Arcanine are symbols of the Jenny family, and nearly every Miss Jenny is paired with a Growlithe.

Is it a monopoly?

Naoki thought it didn’t seem that way since he’d never heard rumors of the Jenny family prohibiting Trainers from raising Growlithe Pokémon.

Moreover, some traveling Trainers are accompanied by Growlithe Pokémon.

After all, one type of Pokémon cannot be controlled by just one family. Look at Lance’s Dragon Taming Clan; they haven’t monopolized Dragonite worldwide either.

Perhaps it’s because Growlithe Pokémon are loyal, reliable, and intelligent, making them perfect as police dogs.

It’s just the Jenny family uses them often, leading to a stereotype.

Miss Jenny, being a police officer, was very sensitive to sensing stares.

Noticing Naoki watching her, she turned her head to inquire, ”Is there something wrong?”

Naoki snapped back to reality and said, ”It feels like all the Miss Jennys around the world look the same.”

Hearing this, Miss Jenny couldn’t help but chuckle, ”That’s indeed the case. The Jenny family is quite remarkable; every girl born into the Jenny family looks identical, maybe because our family’s genes are identical? It’s not just us, the Joy family is the same way.”
