Sweet Rebirth: The Little Healer

Zhao Nuanyue was exhausted. She couldn’t be bothered to blow-dry her hair, so she just gave it a quick rub with a dry towel, plopped onto the bed, and got ready to sleep.

Hua Yusen was tired too, but he had heard that sleeping with wet hair could cause headaches. Doting on his wife, he couldn’t bear the thought of her getting a headache over something so trivial, so he took out the hair dryer to help her.

The sound of the hair dryer made Zhao Nuanyue’s eyes flutter open for a moment, but she quickly closed them again.

Hua Yusen gave a wry smile. ’This little rascal is trying to be lazy!’

’But then again, who was it that spoiled her so much?’

Hua Yusen carefully knelt on the bed, leaning over slightly, and meticulously dried the sleeping Zhao Nuanyue’s hair. Once he finished one side, Zhao Nuanyue automatically rolled over, making it easier for him to dry the other.

When her hair was about seventy or eighty percent dry, Hua Yusen pulled the towel from under her head so Zhao Nuanyue could have a good, comfortable sleep.

While Hua Yusen was drying her hair, Zhao Nuanyue, though somewhat conscious, had already drifted into a light sleep and was cooperating hazily. After Hua Yusen turned off the light and lay down, Zhao Nuanyue immediately rolled into his arms, found her most comfortable position, and quickly fell into a deep sleep.

Holding his beloved woman in his arms always brought Hua Yusen a sense of complete satisfaction. Listening to the sound of Zhao Nuanyue’s long, even breaths beside him, he too quickly fell asleep.

The previous day’s two ”workouts” had left both Zhao Nuanyue and Hua Yusen feeling relaxed in body and mind.

Perhaps they were a little too relaxed, because when they opened their eyes the next morning, it was already 7:30 AM.

It turned out that when the six o’clock alarm had gone off, Zhao Nuanyue had silenced it, tilted her head, and fallen right back asleep.

Their morning was a frantic rush.

Seeing their sister and brother-in-law, Zhao Nuan Yang and Little Red Carp, who were already eating breakfast, both shook their heads, causing the two late-risers to blush.

Little Red Carp said with the air of a world-weary adult, ”Brother, didn’t you tell me last time that no matter what you do, you should do it in moderation?”

Zhao Nuan Yang froze. ’When did I ever say that to Little Red Carp?’

While Zhao Nuan Yang was still processing, Zhao Nuanyue reached out and poked Little Red Carp on the head. ”Hurry up and eat. I have to take you to school soon. Besides, you have exams today, and your winter break starts this afternoon.”

After being poked by her sister, Little Red Carp gave a cute little eye-roll and pouted, ”An exam like that is super easy for me.”

”You still need to take it seriously, even if it’s easy,” Zhao Nuanyue said, glaring at Little Red Carp. She then took the rice porridge Hua Yusen handed her. She was a bit hungry and didn’t have time for a verbal sparring match with Little Red Carp.

After Hua Yusen saw Zhao Nuanyue take a few sips of her porridge, he immediately peeled a hard-boiled egg and handed it to her.

Zhao Nuanyue accepted it as if it were the most natural thing in the world, eating with great relish.

”Tsk, tsk!” Little Red Carp clicked her tongue from the side. ”Oh my, what a life. Having clothes handed to you and food brought to your mouth... it’s truly enviable! It makes me want to grow up quickly and get married too.”

This time, her comment earned her a sidelong glance from Zhao Nuanyue, Zhao Nuan Yang, and Hua Yusen all at once.

Zhao Nuan Yang had already peeled an egg for Little Red Carp. He said with a chuckle, ”No need to be envious. You’ve got a brother, don’t you!”

After finishing the egg in her hand, Zhao Nuanyue also peeled one for Little Red Carp and put it in her bowl. Countering Little Red Carp’s sour-grapes attitude, she said, ”Heh, and you have a sister, too. After you finish this one, I’ll peel another for you, okay?”

Hua Yusen also peeled an egg and went to put it in Little Red Carp’s bowl, but she quickly covered her bowl and said, ”That’s enough, you don’t have to give it to me! I don’t want to stuff myself with eggs first thing in the morning!”

”Hehe, that’s what you get for talking nonsense,” Zhao Nuanyue said, her slender eyebrows shooting up. ”Just eat your food quietly. No more talking from now on.”
