Sweet Rebirth: The Little Healer

Zhao Nuanyue woke up early the next morning, so Hua Yusen didn’t get a chance to tease her.

When Hua Yusen got up and went out to exercise, he saw Zhao Nuanyue and Zhao Nuan Yang practicing their forms by the lake.

He had originally thought it was just for show, but a closer look left Hua Yusen astonished.

Before they could finish, Hua Yusen went right over, took Zhao Nuanyue’s hand, and asked, ”Nuanyue, that set of forms you’re practicing looks incredible!”

”Of course! It’s from a Martial Arts manual I carefully selected!” After discussing it with Xiao Hongli, Zhao Nuanyue had decided to tell Hua Yusen about the manual. Of course, she couldn’t say that the Little Red Carp had found it in the Dragon Palace. Instead, the story was that Zhao Nuanyue had picked it out of a trash heap.

”A Martial Arts manual? Does something so amazing really exist in this world?” Hua Yusen said in surprise, looking at the thin booklet on the table. ”Where did you find it?”

”I’m not sure how powerful it is, but I feel much lighter and more agile after practicing it!” Zhao Nuanyue replied. ”You might not believe this, but I found these two books in a trash heap at the scrap collection station in Labor County. When I had free time, I’d get Nuanyang and the Little Red Carp to practice with me, just to stay fit.”

Hua Yusen believed Zhao Nuanyue’s words without a shred of doubt.

”So that’s how it is. I think it’s excellent. I’ll take a closer look later.” Hua Yusen’s eyes were glued to the book in his hands, and he forgot all about washing up.

Zhao Nuanyue had finished her practice, so she went to prepare breakfast.

The rice porridge in the pot was already cooked. A small water tank next to the stove was full of hot water for washing their faces. After that, she sliced some dried radish and made a few egg pancakes. Breakfast was ready.

Zhao Nuan Yang and the Little Red Carp were sitting at the table, waiting for breakfast.

”Little Red Carp, Nuanyang, where’s your brother-in-law?” Zhao Nuanyue asked. ’He should be coming to eat with us!’

”Big Brother-in-law is reading. He’s still by the lake and hasn’t come back,” the Little Red Carp replied. ”He looks completely absorbed. We don’t have to wait for him.”

Zhao Nuan Yang had to go to work, and the Little Red Carp had to go to school. They couldn’t afford to be late.

”You two go ahead and eat then,” Zhao Nuanyue said. ”It’s a bit hot, so eat slowly. I’ll go check by the lake.”

Hua Yusen was standing by the lake, holding the book in one hand while gesturing out the stances with the other, muttering to himself nonstop.

”Yu Sen, time to eat.” Seeing Hua Yusen so engrossed, Zhao Nuanyue shook her head and chuckled.

When Hua Yusen saw Zhao Nuanyue approach, his face lit up with pleasant surprise. He said, ”Nuanyue, you’ve really found a treasure. This is a top-tier fist technique, and it even has a method for practicing Inner Strength. I’ve been training my external power for years but never my Inner Strength, so my Martial Arts haven’t improved in a long time. At the same time, I’ve felt some kind of unknown force in my body. It’s made me stronger, but I don’t think I’ve been able to fully unleash it.”

”As long as it’s useful to you, that’s what matters,” Zhao Nuanyue said with a smile. ”But Martial Arts aren’t built in a day. You should come eat now before the food gets cold. My master told me I don’t have to go to work for the next couple of days, but the Little Red Carp has school and Nuanyang has work, so they’ve already eaten without you.”

”Alright.” Hua Yusen nodded. ”I’m coming now. After I eat, I’ll take the Little Red Carp to school, and then I’ll come back to study this.”

Hua Yusen quickly went to wash his face and brush his teeth. Zhao Nuanyue squeezed out a bit of cold cream nearby and said, ”Put some of this on so your face doesn’t get dry!”

”If it’s too fragrant, then never mind.” Hua Yusen didn’t want his subordinates to smell him wearing a woman’s scented skin cream.

Zhao Nuanyue rolled her eyes and said, ”It has a light scent, but it’s not strong. Just make do with it! If you don’t put anything on your face in the middle of winter, your skin will start to peel.”

Hua Yusen closed his eyes, letting Zhao Nuanyue apply the cream to his face.

As he enjoyed being taken care of by Zhao Nuanyue, his mind was on the stances from the boxing manual.

By the time they got to the kitchen, Zhao Nuan Yang had nearly finished eating. He slung his briefcase over his shoulder, ready to leave for work.

As for the Little Red Carp, she was leisurely eating her egg.

Zhao Nuanyue had a bowl of rice porridge and an egg pancake. The Little Red Carp was almost full too. Hua Yusen ate everything that was left.

Ever since Hua Yusen had moved in, there were never any leftovers.

Thankfully, Hua Yusen gave her plenty of money, as well as grain and vegetable ration coupons, otherwise there really wouldn’t have been enough food to go around.

Zhao Nuanyue and Hua Yusen walked the Little Red Carp to her kindergarten class together. Afterward, instead of taking a vehicle, the two of them walked side by side along the road.

Snowflakes began to drift down from the sky, landing in Zhao Nuanyue’s hair like goose-down velvet.

The coldest time of the year had arrived once again.

”Nuanyue, do you remember back in Nianqiao Village, when we would get up in the middle of the night to make food for Elder Gu and the others?” Hua Yusen asked. Watching the swirling snow, the floodgates of his memory opened to their time in Nianqiao Village.

”Of course I remember. Those are the most beautiful memories of my life,” Zhao Nuanyue answered softly, reaching out to take Hua Yusen’s arm. ”Life was hard back then, but because I had you by my side, it didn’t feel bitter or tiring at all.”

”Me too.” Hua Yusen nodded. ”You have no idea how much pressure I was under. The Guo Family was using trumped-up charges to put the Hua family in a precarious position, and Elder Gu’s situation was dire as well. I wasn’t just worried about my parents in Jincheng City; I also had to deal with the frequent assassination attempts on Elder Gu. If you and Nuanyang hadn’t saved me, I might not be alive today.”

”It was all fate,” Zhao Nuanyue said with a nod. ’Back when I first saw you, I was so excited, but also very worried.’

’Luckily, I was in Nianqiao Village. Otherwise, even if Hua Yusen hadn’t died, he would have suffered much more torment and sustained more injuries.’

It wasn’t for nothing that Feng Wanru had consulted a fortune-teller who said Zhao Nuanyue was Hua Yusen’s benefactor.

She had saved Hua Yusen’s life, helped him complete his mission, and with the Little Red Carp’s help, woken him from a vegetative state...

The list of things, big and small, was endless!

The walk wasn’t long, and Hua Yusen and Zhao Nuanyue were home soon.

Previously, Hua Yusen would have been all over Zhao Nuanyue, clinging to her affectionately. But now that he had a good boxing manual, he changed into a set of short training clothes, did some warm-ups, and started practicing inside the house.

Before long, Hua Yusen was covered in a dense sheen of sweat.

Zhao Nuanyue came in from outside to see this scene.

’Heavy snow was falling outside, yet the person inside was wearing short training clothes and was drenched in sweat.’

When Hua Yusen saw Zhao Nuanyue come in, he looked up and smiled before his gaze returned to the book. After reading a passage, he would practice it over and over again.
