Sweet Rebirth: The Little Healer

The Little Red Carp nodded. ”That’s right. That shell was life-saving. If the bullet hadn’t hit it, do you think Hua Yusen would still be breathing? He’d be long dead.”

”Then... what happened?” Zhao Nuanyue was completely baffled. ”Little Red Carp, I’m begging you, please just tell me the whole story!”

Hearing her sister’s plea, the Little Red Carp looked a bit smug and said unhurriedly, ”Because the bullet shattered the shell, but the Spiritual Power inside hadn’t completely dissipated. It all went into Hua Yusen’s body. It was an enormous amount of Spiritual Power, and an ordinary mortal like him can’t handle it.”

”What?” Zhao Nuanyue couldn’t believe it. ”You mean Hua Yusen can’t digest the Spiritual Power released from the shell?”

”That’s right, he can’t digest it.” The Little Red Carp nodded. ”Your understanding is correct.”

”Then... besides not being able to wake up, are there any other negative effects on Hua Yusen?” Zhao Nuanyue asked urgently. ”Little Red Carp, can you just tell me everything at once? When I get back from the hospital tomorrow, I’ll take you to buy some tanghulu.”

”Mhm, okay. I’ll definitely tell you everything I know,” the Little Red Carp said with a smile. ”Besides not being able to wake up, it’s actually not having any negative effect on Hua Yusen. In fact, that Spiritual Power is constantly moving through his body and improving it.”

”Little Red Carp, I’m a bit confused. Didn’t you say he can’t digest the Spiritual Power?” Zhao Nuanyue countered. ”So how is it now improving his body?”

”That’s right, he can’t digest it. But Spiritual Power is such a magical thing, and it can’t get out of Hua Yusen’s body. So it’s just been moving through him, clearing out his meridians so it can travel everywhere. This, in turn, is improving his physical condition. That’s why he’s been lying there for so long without his muscles atrophying; in fact, his bodily functions are even better now,” the Little Red Carp explained. ”That Spiritual Power is very magical.”

After hearing this, Zhao Nuanyue grew even more curious. ”Well, Little Red Carp, you’re the one who made the shell. Now that something’s gone wrong, can you get the Spiritual Power out of Hua Yusen’s body? After all, a fine young man like him can’t just lie in bed forever!”

”I can get the Spiritual Power out, and Hua Yusen will wake up very quickly,” the Little Red Carp replied. ”However, I also have a better way. With my help, we can let Hua Yusen gradually absorb that Spiritual Power, which would be even better for his body. There are two options. Which one do you choose?”

’In any case, Hua Yusen isn’t in danger right now, and the Spiritual Power can even bring him greater benefits. I should choose the second option, then.’

”Little Red Carp, I choose the second option. It’s better for Hua Yusen,” Zhao Nuanyue said. ”I’ll be troubling you!”

After speaking, she planted several kisses on the Little Red Carp’s cheek.

The Little Red Carp smiled but didn’t agree right away. Instead, she asked, ”Sister, do you want to be with Hua Yusen? You know, like a man and a woman in Nianqiao Village—get married, sleep together, and have babies!”

”Ah?” Zhao Nuanyue froze, her face growing hot. ’Talking about such... adult topics with a child feels a bit wrong, doesn’t it? And the Little Red Carp was the one who brought it up!’

”Tell me. It’s very important,” the Little Red Carp insisted. ”If you don’t tell me, I won’t help Hua Yusen.”

”Okay, okay. I want to be husband and wife with Hua Yusen, to be with him officially,” Zhao Nuanyue replied, her expression serious. ”I love him. I really want to be with him.”

Hearing Zhao Nuanyue’s words and seeing her serious expression, the Little Red Carp hesitated. ’If Sister gets a husband, what if she doesn’t dote on me anymore?’

Although the Little Red Carp was very intelligent, she was still a child, after all, and there were many things she didn’t understand.

Even if her sister got a husband, her sister would still love her, and her new brother-in-law would love her too. And maybe when the Little Red Carp grew up, she too would meet her fated person, learn what love is, and then she would understand how her sister felt.

The Little Red Carp’s mind was full of schemes, far more than Zhao Nuanyue could ever imagine.

”Since you want to be with Hua Yusen, then we can’t let him wake up so quickly. We have to wait another year or so,” the Little Red Carp said with great solemnity. In reality, waking Hua Yusen was very simple, but she didn’t want to—not just because Hua Yusen would steal her sister away, but also because of the Hua family’s attitude.

’Hua Yusen is already in a vegetative state, lying in bed, possibly never waking up, and the Hua family still looks down on my sister?’

’This is absolutely intolerable!’

Hearing this, Zhao Nuanyue grew anxious and pleaded, ”Little Red Carp, it’s not like Hua has ever offended you. For the sake of all the little gifts he used to give you, please save him.”

”I never said I wouldn’t save him.” The Little Red Carp rolled her eyes. ’This silly sister actually misunderstood me.’ ”I’m just saying we should let him wake up a little later. Don’t make such a big deal out of it; he’s not going to die anytime soon. What about the Hua family’s attitude? You don’t care about that?”

Hearing the Little Red Carp’s words, Zhao Nuanyue froze for a moment, then said softly, ”Sigh, of course I care. But none of that matters compared to Hua Yusen’s life. Little Red Carp, please save him. I’m begging you.”

Seeing her sister’s desperate look, the Little Red Carp grew displeased. With a look of utter exasperation, she scrunched up her cute little nose, flaring her nostrils at Zhao Nuanyue, and said irritably, ”Sister, you’re so dense! I’ve made it so obvious, and you still don’t get it. Someone like you, wanting to marry into the complicated Hua family? You must be dreaming!”

”Ah?” Zhao Nuanyue froze. As she carefully considered the Little Red Carp’s words, she thought back to her previous life. ’Back then, she couldn’t even enter the Hua family’s doors, not even in death.’

The doors of the Hua family were very difficult to enter.

”Think about it. If I just guide that Spiritual Power in Hua Yusen’s body a little, he can slowly absorb it all, which is beneficial for him. That’s one reason I don’t approve of waking him up right now. But there’s another important reason: it increases your bargaining chip for entering the Hua family. If Hua Yusen is a motionless vegetable, the resistance to him getting engaged to an ordinary girl with nothing to her name like you will be much smaller,” the Little Red Carp explained carefully, her little eyes filled with disappointment. Oh, the disappointment!

Zhao Nuanyue stammered, ”Actually... actually, I’m not exactly someone with nothing. Don’t we have a treasure?”

”You can’t take that stuff out now!” The Little Red Carp rolled her eyes. ”In the eyes of the Hua family, wealth is important, but it’s definitely not as important as the family’s interests. So even if that stuff is useful, they would still be more inclined to find someone from a family of equal social standing to form a marriage alliance. Do you think you have that kind of capital?”
