Sweet Rebirth: The Little Healer

Hearing Tang Kai Xuan’s words, Zhao Nuanyue felt a sense of gratitude toward her master’s wife, whom she had yet to meet.

Zhao Nuanyue nodded and said gratefully, ”Thank you, Senior Brother! I just wonder, how is Hua Yusen now?”

Zhao Nuanyue had already cried all her tears. Now, her eyes were sore and slightly swollen, but she couldn’t cry anymore. With her younger brother and sister by her side, Zhao Nuanyue didn’t want them to worry.

”My master says that Hua Yusen’s condition is very strange,” Tang Kai Xuan said. ”All his vital signs are good, and his pulse is normal, but he just won’t wake up. He’s been asleep for three months now.” His unspoken message was that Hua Yusen wasn’t going to die anytime soon, so she didn’t need to worry.

However, he had heard the doctors say that Hua Yusen might become a vegetable. ’What a shame for such a beautiful junior sister!’

Hearing Tang Kai Xuan’s words, Zhao Nuanyue froze for a moment, then frowned and asked, ”Senior Brother Tang, does that mean he’ll become a vegetable?”

Not wanting to disappoint his junior sister, Tang Kai Xuan gave a light laugh. ”I don’t think so. Aside from not waking up, all his other physical stats are excellent. His muscle tone is normal, too; it hasn’t started to atrophy from being unconscious for three months. It’s just like he’s fast asleep. When you get there, talk to him more. Maybe that will wake him up.”

”Yes, he’ll definitely wake up.” Zhao Nuanyue held back her tears, praying for Hua Yusen to regain his health.

’Such a good person can’t just be gone like this.’

Besides, Hua Yusen had gone through a similar ordeal in her past life. Guo Dongmei had used it as an opportunity to break off their engagement, but Hua Yusen had woken up after being in a coma for more than six months.

So, even though Zhao Nuanyue was worried about Hua Yusen, she wasn’t overly panicked.

In this life, although some minor things had changed, the major events were still following their original trajectory.

Zhao Nuanyue understood that she could only change the minor things related to her, not the grand scheme of things.

Therefore, Zhao Nuanyue wasn’t worried about what the future held.

On the train, Tang Kai Xuan helped buy and serve their meals, which made things much easier for Zhao Nuan Yang. Zhao Nuanyue focused on looking after Little Red Carp.

The train rumbled on, finally arriving at Jincheng City West Station at two in the afternoon.

They had arrived in Jincheng City.

People grabbed their luggage, their faces filled with hope and excitement as they lined up to get off the train.

After they disembarked, Tang Kai Xuan and Zhao Nuan Yang handled the luggage while Zhao Nuanyue walked out of the station, holding Little Red Carp.

Before they had even boarded the train, Tang Kai Xuan had sent a telegram to his master, so when they walked out of the station, a car was already waiting for them outside.

”Junior Brother, it’s you! Where’s Master?” Tang Kai Xuan got in and sat in the front passenger seat. Zhao Nuanyue, Zhao Nuan Yang, and Little Red Carp sat in the back, and the luggage was secured to the roof rack.

”He’s giving Elder Gu a check-up, so he didn’t have time to come pick up our junior sister,” Liu Wenqiang said with a smile. ”Kai Xuan, aren’t you going to introduce us?”

Liu Wenqiang was a little excited to see such a beautiful junior sister. There were very few female apprentices at Immortal Grass Hall; it was mostly men.

Zhao Nuanyue felt self-conscious under his gaze and lowered her head.

Zhao Nuan Yang glared at Liu Wenqiang. ”It’s very rude to stare at my sister like that,” he said.

”Pervert!” Little Red Carp lifted her head from Zhao Nuanyue’s arms, accusing Liu Wenqiang.

Seeing this, Zhao Nuanyue knew that her inexperienced siblings hadn’t realized the man was just joking. She quickly explained, ”Hehe, hello, Senior Brother. I’m Zhao Nuanyue, this is my younger brother Zhao Nuan Yang, and my younger sister Zhao Hongli. My brother is just overprotective, and my sister is too young and misspoke. Please forgive them, Senior Brother.”

Little Red Carp was not happy to hear her sister say that.

Zhao Nuanyue shot Little Red Carp a look, telling her to behave.

Zhao Nuan Yang seemed to realize he had misunderstood as well, so he closed his eyes and said no more.

Seeing how poised and graceful Zhao Nuanyue was, Liu Wenqiang didn’t bother holding a grudge against Zhao Nuan Yang and Little Red Carp. He laughed and said, ”Hello, Junior Sister. My name is Liu Wenqiang. I’m Master’s driver and part-time bodyguard; I don’t study medicine. I’m an orphan adopted by Teacher Gu. I have no talent for medicine, but I’m very gifted in martial arts. If you ever need help with anything in the future, Junior Sister, don’t hesitate to ask. I guarantee I’ll take care of it for you.”

From his words, Zhao Nuanyue could tell that this Senior Brother Liu was a straightforward martial artist. She smiled and said, ”Thank you, Senior Brother Liu! We’re all family from now on, so I won’t stand on ceremony.”

Zhao Nuanyue hadn’t been back in almost two years, and Jincheng City had gradually changed. The city was no longer as gloomy as before; there was a touch of brightness to it now. People had more smiles on their faces, unlike the past when everyone was in a constant state of panic and confusion.

’It’s wonderful to see this kind of change,’ Zhao Nuanyue thought. She liked it a lot.

’There will be more and more changes like this in the future. I hope that time comes quickly. That will be the true beginning of a new Chapter.’

Along the way, Liu Wenqiang and Tang Kai Xuan pointed out the sights on both sides of the road and talked about recent events in Jincheng City. Before they knew it, they had arrived at the large courtyard of Immortal Grass Hall.

Liu Wenqiang, Tang Kai Xuan, and Zhao Nuan Yang carried the luggage inside, where a man who looked like a steward came out to greet them.

”Is this Teacher Gu’s last disciple?” Uncle Sun looked kindly at Zhao Nuanyue. After the Master returned, he had told him all about his time in Nianqiao Village, which made Uncle Sun feel deeply grateful toward her.

’Without Zhao Nuanyue, the Master of their house might not have made it back alive.’

Zhao Nuanyue smiled. ”Hello, I’m Zhao Nuanyue. And how should I address you, sir?”

Tang Kai Xuan made the introduction. ”Junior Sister, this is Uncle Sun. He’s the chief steward of our Immortal Grass Hall!”

”Hehe, ’chief steward’ is too grand a title. I just serve the Sun Family,” Uncle Sun said with a laugh. ”Come, come, the Madam is waiting. Hey, you two, hurry up and take their luggage to the rooms we’ve prepared!”

”Yes, sir!” Liu Wenqiang and Tang Kai Xuan responded, getting busy with the bags.

Zhao Nuanyue, Zhao Nuan Yang, and Little Red Carp followed Uncle Sun into the main hall to meet their master’s wife.

The main hall of Immortal Grass Hall was vast, with two rows of chairs lining each side. Of the two host chairs at the very center, the one on the left was occupied by a woman in her fifties or sixties. Seeing Zhao Nuanyue enter, she hurriedly stood up.

Uncle Sun announced, ”Nuanyue, this is our Old Madam! She is also your master’s wife!”

Zhao Nuanyue quickly handed Little Red Carp to her brother, then dropped to her knees with a THUD. She kowtowed and said solemnly, ”Zhao Nuan Yue pays her respects to the master’s wife!”

For a great family with such a legacy, etiquette was of the utmost importance.

Zhao Nuanyue could tell from her master’s wife’s immaculate hair bun that she was a very proper and meticulous person. First impressions were crucial, which was why Zhao Nuanyue had performed such a formal greeting upon meeting her.

Madam Sun was both surprised and delighted to see Zhao Nuanyue act this way. She quickly helped her up, then looked at her with affection and said, ”Good child, good child. Your master has told me everything. We owe you so much!”
