Chapter 1589: Chapter 55: Signal Lights

Another fierce battle has ended.

The massive Binart Fleet has slowly disappeared at the Newton Jump Point. In the silent void, only endless wreckage of warships remains.

A fleet of battered Leray battleships navigates through this vast steel graveyard. From time to time, various pieces of wreckage collide with the hull, spinning silently away.

Several damaged fighters struggle to enter the carrier’s wrecked passage. Damage alarms sound throughout the mothership, as damage control crew rush back and forth, and occasionally a burst of flames explodes on the vast hull, dissipating into space soon after.

A violent explosion comes from the front of the mothership, causing Admiral Markey to firmly grip the railing of the command platform amidst severe shaking. Through the bridge window, one can see a fireball rising a thousand meters from the bridge command room, with the heavy hull armor of the front part of the mothership being shattered, countless fragments flying silently into the universe.

”Damage report,” a roar comes from ship captain Mark, seated beside Markey, sweating profusely from his busy work.

Surrounding the semicircular command platform, alarm sounds are incessant, and the damage indication map on-screen is a sea of red. The bow and port side damage have exceeded warning levels, even the multi-level bridge has been penetrated with gaping holes. It looks like a piece of black cheese full of holes.

Markey strives to make the expression on his face appear less heavy. He turns his head to look outside the window at the surviving Leray battleships approaching the mothership.

A warship with almost half its bridge remaining slides slowly among floating wreckage, signaling with its lights toward the flagship.

”Long live Leray!”

The light ripples through the universe like an infection, one after another, gradually forming a continuous stream. Every battleship gathers and flashes its signal lights in the same rhythm.

Sorrow and pride assault Markey instantaneously. He wants to pummel every person on that signaling warship so they understand the consequences of affecting a commander’s emotions at this time, while also dearly wanting to embrace them, thanking them for battling alongside him to the present without ever retreating!

Markey has lost track of how many times he’s repelled the Western Alliance Fleet’s assaults.

Against the advanced and formidable Binart battleships and the Desic Fleet’s pursuit of massive ships equipped with heavy arms, the old and dilapidated Leray Fleet stands like a stubborn reef amidst monstrous waves!

One by one, Leray warships turn to cosmic ashes under gunfire. Yet, not a single warship retreats. Whether they are battleships concentrating fire, destroyers charging at high speeds, escort ships firing space fish amidst enemy bombardment, or fighters gliding like petrels through energy cannon fire...

They charge onward one after another, with unwavering resolve.

The pitch-black wreckage rolls outside the window like a moving asteroid belt.

Several hours ago, they were bright warships. Onboard those ships, Leray youths with still innocent faces were living fresh lives.

Perhaps they wore headphones, playing heavy metal music while loudly humming and operating rotating turrets to shoot energy cannon light chains toward enemy fighters. Or they joked with each other until the officer roared angrily, boarding fighters to fly into the boundless universe, dancing in the gunfire. Or perhaps they ran into damaged areas, rushing into smoke-filled cabins to repair while not forgetting to whistle at passing female soldiers.

These are carefree bastards. Even in the midst of bullets and bombs, they still bear a nonchalant demeanor.

The enemy will never understand the Leray people. They won’t know how many Leray people are eagerly waiting to pull off a magnificent and explosive stunt!

The Leray boys are scattering their lives and humor throughout this black universe. They light a cigarette, ignite it, and gaze sidelong at death’s approach.

”Admiral,” ship captain Mark, breathing a sigh of relief after confirming the damage of the cherished warship is not fatal, hands battle statistics data to Markey, saying: ”The Desic bunch took quite a beating from us this time!”

As he speaks, he hands the documents to Markey, glancing at the central control screen and saying: ”The Allied Fleet has arrived.”

Taking the statistics report from Mark’s hand, Markey turns to look outside the window.

Several fleets finished their transition and surfaced in the void, slowly closing in. The fleet in the center, with the most and advanced ships, is Chuckna’s fleet, flanked by fleets distinguished by speedy flyer designs belonging to Tatania and Puditok. Trailing behind is a B-level fleet from the Knevel Four Nations Alliance.

Fiscella did not have the ability to take all the Allied Fleets. At least, these countries’ fleets have stayed behind.

The commanders of these fleets showed no regard for Fiscella. On Fiscella’s departure day, they detached from the Southeast Expeditionary Fleet, joining the Leray Fleet. At that time, the light signal they sent when bidding farewell to Fiscella was—”Salute the heroes who stand bravely at the most critical moments.”

This signal, laced with ridicule and self-praise, left Feiyang and Ryan Fleet’s officers and soldiers heads bowed in shame. As for Fiscella, his face was gloomy enough to wring water from.

”Who cares about this bastard?” A Chuckna ship captain snorted, telling Markey: ”Getting lost sooner is better for everyone! We’ve long been fed up with his meddling.”

As the fleets of Chuckna and other nations broke free from Fiscella’s control and joined the defense system, the Leray Federation finally caught a breather. Based at the Newton Jump Point, the Federation has repeatedly repelled attacks from the Sheldon Fleet.

Every time they see the allied fleet coming to relieve the defense, the Leray soldiers would think of that troop fighting in a foreign land.

Although the bandit army is not fighting alongside everyone here, this army is the pillar in the hearts of all Leray people. Everything they are doing is profoundly affecting the Leray Federation and even the entire Southeast Star Domain.

It is precisely the bandit army that led Chuckna to fully commit to this war. Both the government and the military have given their utmost support to the Leray Federation. Not only did their fleet break ties with Fiscella and stay behind, but many Chuckna transport ships also risk their lives daily to cross the Western Alliance blockade to deliver supplies to Leray.

And it is because the bandit fleet is constraining the Sheldon Fleet in the Longbow Star System that they must be cautious of their rear and dare not devote their full force to attacking the Newton Jump Point. Otherwise, with the strength of the Sheldon main fleet, the Storm and Blizzard, two major Elephant-level fleets, and the Desic 5th Fleet, the attack intensity would be ten times higher than it is now!

There is also Hastings, along with the support of countries like Tatania. Although the current Leray Federation is hovering in storms, it is in many aspects better than when it stood alone against several Western Alliance member states. Under Fatty’s leadership, the bandit army is gradually becoming the core of the Allied Forces in the entire Southeast Star Domain.

This is a process of development that can be clearly felt. The seeds left by Hamilton have already taken root and sprouted under the meticulous care of Fatty, Russell, Bernadotte, and others.

Thanks to the efforts of that humble-looking Fatty, Leray is no longer lonely. Although they are not at home, they are protecting and defending this nation in another way!

They are fighting in foreign lands, growing stronger every day. In the foreseeable future, they will return to this country that has enjoyed peace for three hundred years and restore its tranquility and harmony.

All the people of Leray are looking forward to their return!

”General, look!” A staff officer’s shout interrupted Markey’s thoughts. He looked carefully, only to see allied warships from different countries arranged in neat formations, sailing past the damaged Leray Fleet. The distances between the warships were so close that through the bright floor-to-ceiling windows of the bridge, you could even see rows of space navy officers standing solemnly by the windows.

What’s going on? The Leray soldiers who discovered something unusual all crowded to the windows.

Everyone whispered to each other in discussion. This kind of defense handover was not the first time. However, previous allied fleets had never been so formal.

Those three ships in a row sliding at the same speed; the soldiers standing by the windows, like they were being reviewed, were obviously deliberately organized.

A beam of light was flickering in the dark universe. It was a light signal from the leading Chuckna Space Carrier, followed by the battleship group, cruiser group, and the outer destroyer and escort ship groups. The same light signals were flashing. Countless signal lights were like fireflies in the night sky.

”Leifeng Star Victory, salute to Leray Federation soldiers!”

As soon as the signal lights finished flashing, the allied officers standing by the windows seemed to have heard an order, aligned their legs, stood at attention, and saluted in unison!

The allied fleet gracefully sailed past not far from the tattered and disordered Leray Fleet, like a flowing river of light.

The leading Chuckna Carrier drew an arc in space, turned its bow, led the long line to pass alongside the Leray Fleet row, and stopped just half a ship’s body behind.

The Leray soldiers stared blankly at the allied fleet, which lagged half a ship length behind and expressed respect in the shared manner of the space navy. The afterglow of the signal lights still lingered on their retinas, and the sound of the communications officer deciphering the signals echoed in their ears.

”Leifeng Star Victory!”

This voiceless sound, like a wizard’s incantation, rose from the boiling blood, and a current swept across every Leray warrior. The immense cheering almost shattered the window glass!

Countless hats were thrown into the air, they knew there was a force fighting over there.

Leray Bandit Army!
