Chapter 1586: Chapter 54: Victory Shockwave

The winter in Hanjing has come to an end.

The trees on the city streets have started budding in the cool breeze. People look at these tender green little fellows with joy. To those who’ve endured a gray winter, these tender branches are as precious as gold. Just passing by them seems to lighten their mood considerably.

A variety of people come and go.

There are middle-aged men walking briskly... young men exercising on bicycles wearing helmets and knee pads... office workers speeding by in flying cars... a little boy simultaneously crying with great vigor and gazing around with tearful eyes... a young woman blushing, slightly embarrassed, soothing the child... slender girls passing by hand in hand, casting amused and affectionate glances at the little boy...

This city is still full of life! Although the war continues and the situation is more severe than before, to the Chuckna people, this is nothing dreadful. Their fighting spirit seems to have returned dramatically with the return of Marshal Li Cunxin, and with the President’s residence and Military Department’s resolve to fight to the end.

This is the confidence inherited in the bloodline of the Chuckna people, a trait that has never vanished. It is like the green on the streets; as long as the temperature warms, it will sprout on thousands of branches.

Standing before the floor-to-ceiling window on the second floor of a café, William, a reporter for Feiyang’s Sunshine Newspaper, presses the camera shutter. The camera pointed at the street emits a series of clicking sounds.

”The longer I stay here, the more I understand why Chuckna can be called an unbreakable nation,” William released the shutter, turned around, and walked to the tea table to sit beside four colleagues from different countries, while nodding at the photos in the camera, he exclaimed, ”Their resilience is astonishing!”

As he spoke, he displayed the photos on the camera screen to his colleagues sipping coffee, ”Look closely at their expressions, how confident and composed they are.”

The camera passed among the smiling colleagues, and the café was filled with the rich aroma of coffee.

William picked up his coffee, ”Looking just at the photos, it’s hard to believe this country is engaged in a war with several great empires, a war that concerns life and death.”

William’s words and photos garnered unanimous agreement from several middle-aged men. They carefully examined the photos, enlarging them to observe each person’s expression. William’s photography skills were acknowledged among these people. Standing by the window of the coffee room, he captured the most natural expressions of every Chuckna person on the street with his lens.

There was no panic or dread. This nation fully committed to the war displayed the fortitude of a country unafraid of war when the war commenced in the Resk Star System.

Aside from William, the other four present were journalists from the Silliac Federation, Ryan Republic, Tatania Freedom Alliance, and a western member country. They arrived in Hanjing with their national troops as part of the third batch of reinforcements and had been here for a long time, as they were all staying at the Hanjing Hotel, they became very familiar with one another.

Hanjing Hotel is a small space city six hundred meters high, almost gathering journalists, government officials, and corporate staff from every country and region globally.

With the increasingly tense war situation, usually, hurried crowds come and go throughout the hotel. William and the others rarely have time to sit down like today, have a cup of coffee, and chat leisurely.

However, in recent days, with the Allies’ planned Resk reinforcement plan approaching, all interview activities have been suspended. Both the military bases in Hanjing East Suburb and West Suburb, as well as the Space Port outside the atmosphere, have been placed under lockdown. Everyone knows the Allies are about to act, but no one knows if the Allied forces have already departed, where they have reached, nor what the frontline war situation is.

Everyone’s information still dates from two weeks ago’s war report. The latest and hottest topic is the news announced by the Chuckna Military just a day before at a press conference about the Bandit Army Fleet’s complete annihilation of the Dragon Rider Fleet and killing the One-eyed Python Auben. ℯℯ𝘭.

This information has already been transmitted back to their home countries by several reporters at the first opportunity. Even having completed mere reports, sitting here sipping fragrant coffee, everyone seems not to have calmed down from the excitement. Just like during the news conference, rushing to the news center to transform this explosive news into an immediate news bulletin, sending it home while vigorously waving fists in celebration, exchanging high-fives with every entrant and exit in excitement!

The topic naturally shifted to the Southeast War Situation due to the photographs.

”By the way,” returning the camera that had been passed around to William, Harper, the journalist from the Silliac Federation, said, ”the bandit army destroyed the Jiepeng Dragon Rider Fleet days ago, such a major victory, why did Chuckna hold onto this news until now to reveal it?! Had I known this was true earlier when I heard the news a few days ago, I should have rushed ahead!”

”Rushed ahead?” another journalist teased, ”Didn’t you almost shake your head off and fervently say it was impossible when you talked about this news back then?”

Seeing Harper’s chubby face with small eyes widen, the group simultaneously laughed. William said, ”Holding onto it until now, there are chiefly two reasons. One, time is needed to verify the truthfulness of the news since this explosive news cannot afford to carry any falsehood. If it turns out to be an erroneous joke, it would be unsolvable. Secondly...”
