Chapter 1585: Chapter 53: Decisive Victory

”Perhaps, at the time, Major General Margaret, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Bandit Army, and the bandit army generals beside her, did not intend to create the most famous, longest-lasting, and most far-reaching massacre in human war history. If they knew what happened later, perhaps they would reconsider their decisions.

However, all military strategists and historians of later generations believe there was one person who would not change his decision, no matter the Fei Alliance’s public opinion condemned him, no matter for a long time thereafter, this massacre became an excuse for the Fei Alliance Joint Congress members and many politicians opposed to him to attack him, he remained unconcerned.

The soul of the bandit army, Leray Lieutenant General Tian Xingjian once responded to his accusing enemies—’Idiot, get lost!’”

At 23:00 on January 7, 2064, two exhilarating pieces of news were sent back to the Chuckna Capital, Hanjing, from the Resk Star System.

The Chuckna Ministry of Defense building located in the West District of Hanjing and the Presidential Palace located in Central 1st District were brightly lit this late night, full of cheering. From President Admiral to ordinary staff soldiers, everyone was gleeful, even walking with smiles.

On January 6, the third batch of Fei Alliance reinforcements, after a long interstellar journey, suddenly appeared at the Canglang Star Domain at four in the afternoon. Commanders Admiral Li Hongwu and Admiral Qian Bolin led their respective fleets to successfully distract the Su Jie Alliance forces with a series of tactical feints.

In the situation where Mikami Yuto Fleet’s main forces couldn’t care for the Canglang Star, the landing fleet completed the deployment of over a hundred divisions in just twenty hours.

Before the arrival of the third batch of reinforcements, the alliance forces, leveraging the momentum from the Northern Mountain Region campaign, had fought several brilliant expansion battles. Advancing north, south, and east, the Fei Alliance Armored Forces rapidly pushed deep, successively capturing three continental regions. It was only two weeks ago that the Jiepeng Prince Bobett managed to stabilize the frontline.

The arrival of the third batch of reinforcements meant the Canglang Star Army now had sufficient strength to launch a new round of offensives. It also meant that for the first time since the outbreak of war, the military forces of both sides reached a balanced level. While the Su Jie two nations exhausted their full strength, Chuckna’s war machine was just fully kicking into gear.

The news of the successful landing brought a sigh of relief to the Chuckna government and alliance military.

During these days, they worked almost day and night for the deployment work of the third batch of reinforcements. Logistical transportation, organization gathering, officer appointments... Everyone understood that if reinforcements couldn’t be dispatched in time, the Resk battle situation might rapidly deteriorate. Losing Resk, Chuckna’s most important home front line, would be equivalent to losing half of Chuckna!

The successful landing on Canglang Star was tantamount to a victory in a large-scale battle!

Before everyone could calm down from the excitement of Canglang Star’s successful landing, an even more exhilarating piece of news arrived one after another.

Just as Canglang Star’s landing was underway, the Leifeng Star battlefield had already shown a one-sided trend! Under the lead of the bandit army, the Leifeng Star Army, with a momentum like a landslide, swept across the Sunset Mountain Basin.

Before the fighting entered January 7, they had already annihilated over thirty Western Alliance divisions and pursued the victory, destroying the main command group led by Admiral Suss Langman, clearing out the remaining Western Alliance soldiers at Sunset Mountain. Even the much-vaunted Judger Force was entirely annihilated in this battle, leaving Reinhardt barely escaping.

The forces intercepting the opposing command group consisted of only five hundred Rampage units from the bandit army. This Twelfth Generation Mecha, debuting on the battlefield, erupted with dazzling brilliance that was blindingly bright!

Now, the ten armored divisions led by Bellif have been deeply trapped in the passage deliberately opened by the alliance army.

The four divisions deployed on both sides of the passage seemed unable to guarantee the safety of their central main forces. The Feiyang 33rd Army Group and two Chuckna Armored Divisions, like five hounds, took turns tearing at their precarious defense line.

When Bellif’s central group approached the 5th Resource Highway, the impatient Fei Alliance forces intensified their attacks, with the Feiyang 33rd Army continuously devouring two opposing armored groups, forcing Bellif, upon first glimpse of the 5th Resource Highway, to hastily retreat, missing the chance to behold the resting place of Langman’s troops.

Tian Xingjian seemed not to want to annihilate this Western Alliance force that dared not advance yet was reluctant to retreat in one go.

Having just bloodily annihilated Langman’s troops, this Leray Lieutenant General ordered one regiment each from the Bandit Army First and Second Divisions to pin down Bellif’s forces, attacking in turns. The remaining units were then instructed to quickly insert westward, parallel to Bellif.

Under the lead of the bandit army, the entire Leifeng Star Army was engaged in this game of cat and mouse.

A total force exceeding thirty-five divisions, comprising the main alliance forces surging from Sunset Mountain and the bandit army detachment flanking from Frenso Town, was forming into swarming attack arrows, crossing mountains, rivers, and galloping on the vast wilderness, advancing into the depths of the Western Alliance Control Zone with dust and sand all over. Meanwhile, south of the 49 Peak, numerous Fei Alliance units, liberated from their frontlines, were rapidly departing the positions that had bound them for nearly two months, converging with the main forces.

The entire Northern Battle Zone allies’ advance presented a grand scene of competition. Rather than a pursuit, they seemed to be escorting Bellif as they pressed westward.

The commanders at the Chuckna Military Department and the allied staff repeatedly simulated the next steps of the Leifeng Star Army on electronic sand tables. They were sure that the Leray General Tian would not let Bellif off so easily. Such a massive group of over tens of divisions advancing simultaneously on a frontage nearly two hundred kilometers wide must have deeper intentions!

There were many kinds of hypotheses in the simulations. Different approaches and judgments led to thousands of different outcomes. No one knew what that miracle-creating fatty general was thinking. All they knew was that after receiving the latest reports from Leifeng Star, the normally unflappable Marshal Hastings extended his hand in a high-five with Li Cunxin in front of everyone!

The old man was delighted; however, his face was almost devoid of color.

**********************************************************************************

The old man Felix hasn’t been in good shape lately.

The reason is simply because the show has recently focused on the Fei Alliance Joint Congress, forcing him to stomach the nauseating task of analyzing those inexplicable and even foolish proposals, unveiling the ugly inside stories, and explaining the intrigues among politicians.

Although known as a talk show host renowned for his sharp tongue, he could scold those damned antics until they’re soaked in dog blood, but this couldn’t bring him any mental satisfaction.

In one episode, this old man obsessed with the truth even broke the principle he had adhered to throughout his career—he admitted that he had lied. Because he told the audience that those people he even hated to mention were not born of a bitch.

Furiously slamming the door of the studio, Felix walked briskly down the TV station corridor towards the terrace, his face livid.

Through the glass of the corridor, one could see the staff in the studio hall packing filming equipment, and the director and production staff didn’t look great either. The entire room was filled with a sense of oppression and anger.

The Fei Alliance Joint Congress had just proposed a motion to impeach Hastings, with several legislators jumping out to vehemently criticize Hastings for inaction, the Fei Alliance Command Center’s large-scale troop deployment in the Southeast Star Domain, the disgraceful loss in the Karsdon Star River campaign, and support of the bandit army as charges.

Furthermore, representatives from these interest groups even blatantly proposed that the parliament intervene to veto the alliance’s procurement budget, transferring military expenditure and procurement—matters they originally shouldn’t be handling—under parliamentary review and supervision.

They were even shamelessly demanding the bandit army hand over the Twelfth Generation Mecha design drawings, developed with endless manpower and resources by several patriotic companies, urging the currently assembled multilateral forces at Akasa Fortress to be deployed to the ”more important” Ryan Battlefield or Karsdon Star River, calling for Hastings to step down, and warning Chuckna Republic not to distance itself too far from the parliament.

Although with well-timed news from the bandit army and Chuckna side of annihilating the Jiepeng Dragon Rider Fleet, forcing the One-eyed Python Auben to commit suicide, the legislators quickly abandoned their attempts to challenge Hastings at this moment, and the motion fell through. Still, just thinking about these people’s faces made everyone feel nauseous.

Ads by PubFuture Even more infuriating was that, just when the Southeast Star Domain had become the key battleground in this war, Fiscella finally led his fleet to withdraw. He chose to depart the jump point at Gazalin, transiting through Knevel Federation back to Feiyang, right as the Sheldon Fleet from the Binart Empire fiercely attacked the last remaining Newton Star System of Leray Federation.

This almost spells the fall of Leray Federation’s last star system!

From the perspective of any Chuckna person who has regarded Leray Federation as their brother and the bandit army as their children, this is blatant division and betrayal!

Infuriatingly, the Alliance Council even backed Fiscella’s unforgivable actions.

Those legislators who had long sought to regain power jumped out one after another, praising Fiscella for his contributions to defending Leray Federation and for his wise decision to withdraw back to Feiyang and preserve his forces.

Shamelessly, and smugly, they portrayed Fiscella as a wise general and a hero who dared to resist irrational orders, obliviously ignoring that their commentary was supposed to be within the jurisdiction of the Allies Supreme Command and Command Center, or the Feiyang Army.

After finishing this episode, Felix was the first to yield to the fury in his heart and dashed out of the studio.

As the bandit fleet guarded the Southeast Main Channel in the Longbow Star System, and as their army fought a bloody battle on Leifeng Star, every Chuckna person was at a loss as to how to face the impending fall of Leray Federation.

Felix walked towards the terrace, and as he walked, he took out a cigarette from his pocket.

At this moment, he needed the cold winter air and cigarette to dispel the suffocating feeling in his lungs.

Just as he reached the end of the corridor and was about to push open the door leading to the terrace, suddenly his forearm was grabbed by someone.

Felix staggered, looking back in surprise at the person dragging him back..... Su Fei, a girl as old as his daughter, was panting, her fair and broad forehead bead with tiny sweat, and her beautiful face flushed with excitement and the exertion of a run. Her starry eyes glittered brightly.

”Quick, follow me!” Su Fei shouted.

”What’s going on?” Felix asked curiously.

”The great victory on Leifeng Star!” This girl responsible for propaganda in the Chuckna Military Department told Felix the news ordinary people couldn’t know first, in her melodious voice.

Her voice echoed in the corridor, and Felix looked up to see the staff moving back and forth staring blankly at this direction, their eyes vacant, and faces flushed.

They seemed all a bit dumbfounded.
