Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 317: Volume 4 Chapter 63 Possession

Hamilton’s words struck at the heart of every citizen in the Leray Federation like heavy hammers.

After a brief period of confusion and fear, the entire Federation erupted!

At this moment, the fearless spirit of the Leray people, their heroic valor from the War of Independence, and their fierce determination were fully ignited!

The Federation Government’s meticulous choice of the special episode of ”Hero” to declare war was not in vain. The repeatedly broadcasted scenes on television of Federation Heroes leaping into the abyss amidst artillery fire achieved even better effects than expected. At the moment Hamilton declared war, no one questioned why the war came upon the Federation so quickly, nor did anyone curse and complain.

Since the war came to the Leray Federation, let it come!

Two years of war were enough to make the spine of the Federation more upright than ever, enough to forge this peaceful nation into one of iron and steel amidst blood and smoke! When disaster truly struck, the entire Leray Federation contracted together like an attacked porcupine, bristling with hostility.

When unity was essential, those who criticized the President just a minute ago immediately stood firmly on the side of the Federation. Mature politicians, whether in power or opposition, discarded the debate over war and peace. No one mentioned policy errors or blamed anyone for the outbreak of war. What people saw were a group of men standing arm in arm, shoulder to shoulder!

Every recruitment point of the Federation Army was instantly overwhelmed by the flood of enthusiastic young people.

When asked by the recruiting officers why they were enlisting, most of them cited the final scene of the ”Hero” special episode, where the Mecha [Magic Beast] soared through brilliant artillery fire, and the closing words of the Federation’s flower, Helen:

”This is a land of heroes; we shall never be conquered.”

Tian Xingjian’s photo, appearing clumsy and honest, was seen on television, enlistment posters, patriotic pamphlets, newspapers, and magazines. The name Tian Xingjian had already become the spiritual pillar of the Leray people.

Looking at this chubby face, many could not believe their eyes.

The laboratory researchers were shocked.

The Combat Department’s military analysts were shocked.

The trainees at the Maintenance Camp of the Gallipalan Military Academy were shocked.

Also shocked were Bernadotte’s Chief Confidential Secretary, Yuna, and many female officers who, having believed in rumors, felt deep disdain for this Fatty advisor.

Carl could not believe that the Fatty, who saw through Russell’s strategic intentions, was the mysterious Federation Hero.

Mother Ann, who had watched Tian Xingjian grow up, could not believe that the timid, fearful little Fatty she knew had accomplished such earth-shattering feats.

The most disbelieving of all was Catherine, the Command Department’s campus belle who once quarreled with Fatty. It turned out that before this Fatty squeezed through the crowd of girls in a wretched manner, he had already earned two Purple Emblem Freedom Medals; before displaying his special soldier skills, he had rescued hundreds of federal soldiers from deep behind enemy lines; before killing the assassins and teasing Gazalin’s Crown Prince Stephen in public class, he had even gone to capture someone else’s father.

And when all Federation citizens saw the interview with the Central Army Hospital nurse Meiduo, huddled on the ground and weeping uncontrollably, when they saw the devastated, frequently fainting Milan, and the Federal war prisoners who were crying their hearts out, everyone’s eyes were blurred with tears.

The continuous broadcast of battlefield records and the scene on television of the solitary [Magic Beast] Mecha battling an entire Mechanical Armor Group alone made everyone in the Federation, especially the Mechanical Warriors of the Federation Armored Division, passionate and elated beyond control.

They pledged before marching off to war: ”Never be conquered!”

In the initial phase of the war, the Federation’s fervent warriors unleashed unimaginable power.

On March 6, 2062, during the standoff with the Desic Fleet in the Public Star Systems, the 4th and 9th Mixed Fleets, despite being significantly outnumbered, fought to the death, defeating the 13th and 14th Mixed Fleets of the Desic Empire with an equal casualty ratio and then strategically withdrew to the Federation Central Star System, delivering a heavy blow to the overconfident Desic Empire.

On March 12, 2062, the 1st, 3rd, 6th, and 8th Fleets of the Federation, after nearly half a month of fierce battles in the Little Pyrenees Star System, defeated the Gazalin Local Joint Fleet, ambushed and destroyed a significant part of the Desic Empire’s 9th Mixed Fleet and its escorting supply transport fleet, then withdrew to the Galileo Star System.

On March 15, 2062, with the Desic Empire launching a fierce attack on the Galileo Jump Point, the Lucerne Army of the Leray Federation broke through the Gazalin Army’s defenses in five divisions on the Lavos Plain, creating a corridor 50 kilometers wide and advancing directly towards Wali City. While heavily surrounding the main forces of the Gazalin Army, the Federation’s peripheral troops maneuvered through extensive interspersions, cutting off the Imperial Army stationed on the Lavos Plain, their advance swift and unstoppable.

On March 20, 2062, with Lucerne beyond salvation, Stephen was forced to announce Gazalin’s withdrawal from the war in his capacity as Crown Prince. On the same day, the Gazalin Lucerne Army declared surrender, accepting the supervision of the Leray Federation.
