Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 315: 4 Volumes 62 Chapters Mars Eruption_2

The newly formed 9th Mixed Fleet set sail almost simultaneously as Hamilton issued the orders. After a few days of fast navigation, they passed through the jump point of the Public Star System and joined the standoff with the Desic Fleet. Under the watchful eyes of the conciliators sent by the Human Supreme Council and nearly a hundred military observers from both alliances, they, together with the 4th Mixed Fleet, formed a faint encirclement around the Desic Exercise Fleet.

Meanwhile, the battle at Lucerne gained overwhelming superiority with the further engagement of the Leray Federation Army. A total of forty armored divisions and fifty-eight fully mechanized infantry divisions of the army completely crushed the enemy’s airborne forces at the Amayo Mountain line that lacked supplies and formed a division and encirclement around six key military towns on the Lavos Plain.

After a brief tug-of-war, under Liebgoet’s command, the Gazalin Empire Army began to retreat in large steps, shrinking. The Federation Army continuously won victories, broke through, won again, and broke through again, with their forces directly targeting the Gazalin Army’s headquarters at Wali City.

Once the Imperial Army was compressed within a certain range, both sides formed another standoff. Liebgoet’s command skills were brilliantly demonstrated, managing to hold firm with the remaining nineteen armored divisions and over thirty infantry divisions under his command. However, without logistical supplies, breaking through by the Federation Army was only a matter of time.

In the space domain, the Federation pooled national resources to form a new battleship fleet, which, after small-scale alternating battles, had already showcased immense combat power. Under Russell’s command, on February 22, 2062, it launched a sweeping attack on the Galileo Star System. The powerful assault of six mixed fleets was something the Gazalin Empire’s Galileo Front Fleet, lacking unified command and coordinated rear supplies, could not withstand.

With the rapid pursuit by the six fleets, the Gazalin Empire Fleet was dispersed one by one. Since the entrance to the space passage leading to the Little Pyrenees Jump Point was occupied by the Federation, these fleets could only scramble chaotically within the Galileo Star System, seeking survival space. Meanwhile, the Leray Federation’s First, Third, Sixth, and Eighth Mixed Fleets suddenly collectively cut in at an angle during the seemingly chasing process, swiftly entering the jump point and, after crushing the two Imperial Fleets guarding the exit of the Little Pyrenees Star System jump point, proceeded straight ahead!

The gate of Gazalin was forcibly opened by force for the first time!

Although the four mixed fleets faced the massive fleet blockades from Gazalin’s home territory, everyone understood that despite opening the jump point, before the completion of the battle on Lucerne Planet, the Leray Federation did not have any extra power for landing operations on Gazalin’s home planets. Still, the fact that the Federation Fleet penetrated Little Pyrenees took the Western Alliance by surprise.

Oppressing the main forces of Gazalin’s army on Lucerne Planet, breaking through the Little Pyrenees Star System, forming a standoff with Desic in the Public Star System, and combined with the fleet assembly of four small countries from the Fei Alliance at the Desic and Gazalin border, Leray Federation, has perfectly executed strategic dominance.

Only if the Special Reconnaissance Group of the 16th Armored Division of the Aviation Marine Corps and the two Fierce Tiger Special Groups of the First Armored Division deployed with the First Fleet at Mezrich could rescue the Freedom Front squad that had captured James, then the Leray Federation could command the Gazalin Fleet to surrender in the shortest time.

However, nothing is perfect. In human society, this powder keg, any slightest spark of accidental outbreak can lead to an explosion. The subsequent events took a sharp turn downwards, gradually spiraling out of everyone’s control.

March 1, 2062, this day is Leray Federation’s Independence Day. Many years later, everyone who lived through this day could not describe their feelings at the time, whether it was joy, sadness, pride, shock, or anger.

Or perhaps, all of the above.

In the morning, the Federation people celebrated the complete breakthrough of the Little Pyrenees Star System in the annual Independence Day parade. They wore their respective ethnic traditional costumes, took to the streets, singing and dancing following floats and bands.

The Federation people had no reason not to be pleased. The war was about to end, and it was ending in the Federation’s victory. Reports of success had already come from Lucerne, and after suffering devastating blows, the remaining thirty thousand troops of the Imperial Army, air-dropped on Amayo Mountain, had surrendered. In Gazalin, caught in a civil war, the passage had been opened; as soon as Lucerne’s forces could be redeployed, the Federation could land on Gazalin’s home territories.

Although the news of conflict with the Desic Empire was spreading more intensely lately, this did not affect the confidence the Leray people had in their armed forces. They would wave their fists and shout, ”Dog-bred Desic, let them come and try!”

More and more people came out of their houses, and the parade reached its climax. As the military formations passed by, people burst into cheers that echoed across the skies. Children lined up neatly behind the soldiers, marching in formation, while the young women lifted their skirt hems, joyfully dancing along under the lead of their beloved. Every face bore genuine happiness.

At noon, the public TVs were turned on atop tall street buildings, in squares, on floats, in every bar, and at every station. Today, the top-rated ”Hero” would air a special program revealing the longstanding mystery of the Federation hero.
