Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 310: 4 Volumes 59 Chapters Sailing Diary_2

The Vibo people can never catch up with us, I understand, it’s all thanks to the child, who can always choose the most precise escape route in the shortest time.

Has the child really evolved? We still can’t be sure.

September 5, 3022:

The child is having problems, our commands are no longer effectively executed, and at this critical juncture, this is undoubtedly fatal!

The child seems to be afraid. He only chooses the most effective escape route, leading us further and further away from Earth and the Federation Fleet we could call for help.

September 6, 3022:

White dwarfs, black holes, meteorite groups, what other dangers have we not experienced?

Now, we are experiencing another danger, through an unexplored jump point, who knows what lies at the other end of the jump point.

No choice, if we don’t go in here, we have already become dust in the universe. Everyone is praying.

September 23, 3022:

Should I be thankful or should I cry?

The end of this one-way jump point is not a black hole or a constant star, just a meteorite belt. The ship hit a meteorite upon exiting the jump point, losing fifty percent of its power.

If we can’t repair it, we are exiled in an unknown star domain.

October 20, 3022:

The warship is continuously weakening, yes, I use the word weakening. The environment of this unknown star system is so harsh, all sorts of blows keep hitting the Exploration, but the child seems to be getting stronger.

Yes, stronger! I am a scientist, and it is hard for me to describe a kind of cosmic mysticism with my limited knowledge. But I can feel the child’s growth.

Some crew members are getting sick, anyway, we must leave here.

November 1, 3022:

The functionality of the Exploration has recovered to eighty percent, we are preparing to leave this star system.

December 20, 3022:

We ventured through the jump point and reached this planet, the dangers along the way making it unbelievable that we are still alive. The Exploration could no longer hold up when entering the atmosphere, malfunctioned, and was captured by a geomagnetic black hole. We could only make a forced landing, the ship nearly destroyed in the violent crash, losing most of its functions, perhaps we still have a chance to fix it.

Now, I feel like Robinson stranded on a deserted island, this is an unexplored potential immigration star. If we can’t return, how many years later will someone come here?

A hundred years or a thousand years?

Tian Xingjian felt a bit melancholic upon seeing this, knowing that the young captain named Chen Xiuqi never left here again. All 12 researchers and 16 combat crew members on the ship eventually died, one by one. Until 3760 A.D., the Little Pyrenees Star System and Mezrich Planet were discovered. Decades later, in 3800 A.D., the first recorded immigration on Mezrich Planet occurred.

Looking at the nearby flying detection robot, Fatty didn’t expect this guy to be an orphan too, and lonely for thousands of years!

Upon continuing to read, the end of the diary stated:

January 18, 3074

I am about to die, my companions have already left, on this desolate planet, only the child and I remain.

The child’s consciousness has evolved to the level of a five-year-old, forming a certain personality. This may be my last diary entry, as my body can no longer allow me to come here again. The analytical research report on the child and this diary are the only legacy I leave to the world.

I have canceled all identity recognition and alert procedures of the vessel and issued the final command to the child. Before humans discover here, he cannot leave, I don’t want an artificial intelligence to bring disaster to humanity due to the loss of human control. The person who discovers here will become his new master. I believe we have left a miracle for the world.

The child is our creation.

And he belongs to all humanity!

I feel both regret and pride for my life.

After giving out control programs for an artificial intelligence, the diary ended.

Fatty silently stared at the diary, feeling a tumult inside. According to the diary, following the ship’s disappearance, the Earth Federation’s military laboratory should still exist, and the people in charge of artificial intelligence research should not have been affected by the war. It’s known that the thorough disintegration of the Earth Federation only happened after centuries of prolonged conflict, and that laboratory had already had a successful experience, why didn’t they continue?

Humanity has always been striving to study artificial intelligence, yet for four thousand years, no one has succeeded. Within the long river of history, an accident pushed human civilization in another direction. If artificial intelligence had appeared several thousand years earlier, what would the world be like, nobody knows.

The most crucial invention was buried deep underground by fate, is this humanity’s fortune or misfortune?

Everyone understands what artificial intelligence means for humanity, it means a broader exploration of the universe, and it also implies more precise strikes. Perhaps, artificial intelligence can enable contemporary human society to step out of cages, or perhaps, artificial intelligence will only fuel the ever-insatiable war madmen’s ambitions.
