Chapter 235: After modification: Volume 4 Chapter 23 Betrayal (3)_2

This remark elicited a burst of laughter, everyone knew that Russell’s subtext was, without democratic constraints, James always made some foolish decisions.

Hamilton smiled and nodded, ”Speaking of which, I have to admire Mr. James’s strong will. If I were the Gazalin Emperor, ha ha...” A trace of sarcasm appeared on his face: ”Just as General Russell’s distinguished student said, I think I would have surrendered early.”

After another round of laughter, Hamilton picked up his coffee, his expression turned serious, and solemnly said, ”Two generals, I believe you have seen the latest intelligence from the Military Intelligence Bureau. It seems our neighbor is not resigned to his defeat...” He frowned, unsure if it was because the coffee was too bitter or because the matter was too thorny, ”The Gazalin envoys not only frequently appear in the Binart Empire and the Naga Federation, but they have also intensified their diplomatic efforts with several of our neighbors. And our biggest neighbor, the Desic Empire, has made some unusual military movements recently. The Military Intelligence Bureau has reason to believe that at the appropriate time, the Desic Empire will intervene in this war. I would like to hear the opinions of the two generals on this matter.”

This is the real topic of today. The Desic Empire’s military mobilization is almost ostentatious. Without the Military Intelligence Bureau’s information, nearly everyone knows that the Desic Empire is up to something big. In the space age, the touching form between countries with three-dimensional territories has completely overturned the adjacency form from the Earth era. Through one or more Public Star Systems, it is not uncommon for several countries to be adjacent to the same country. The Desic Empire, as a medium-large country with four Star Domains, is considered a Level 1 power in this peripheral area of human society. Its military strength is not only powerful, but its economic prowess is also not to be underestimated.

At this critical moment, any movement from the Desic Empire, as a member country of the Western Alliance, inevitably raises suspicion. For the Leray Federation, fighting a two-front war with both the Gazalin Empire and the Desic Empire would be suicide!

Bernadotte glanced at Russell. The current complex situation had already shown its signs. The battle in Lucerne was far from certain. The Federation only held a strategic advantage. Liebgoet had not made any significant moves yet, and the two sides were almost engaged in a mechanized battle, attacking and defending, all in direct confrontation.

If Liebgoet comes up with a clever strategy and changes the situation with one battle.

If that Gazalin Emperor plays his political tricks again, dragging the entire human society into the flames of war.

If the Desic Empire brazenly intervenes with military force.

If the domestic political situation becomes turbulent, and the ruling party loses in the parliamentary elections.

Then, not to mention Russell, even a god could not achieve the final victory.

At that point, forget about attacking Gazalin’s homeland, even the condition of reclaiming the Galileo Star System in the peace plan put forward by the Western Alliance nations to the Human Supreme Council would no longer be met. Coupled with the losses on the front lines and the wavering public sentiment, if Federation President Hamilton were not anxious, that would be strange!

Russell’s long fingers traced the edge of the buttons on the cuff of his General’s Uniform, his brows tightly furrowed.

As an excellent military strategist, Russell knew himself that when it came to political maneuvering, he was not as good as even his student, that Fatty who was sitting in prison competing with others in urinating contests. In past teachings, Russell had often been shocked by Fatty’s insightful political comments. It was not just that Fatty was particularly adept at these political intrigues, but it also indicated that playing politics was truly Russell’s weak point.

Russell knew James well enough, and how could James not understand him? This emperor, who relied on political maneuvering, intrigues between betrayal and trust, had been doing the same thing all his life! That is, playing with politics!

The gap between him and James in this regard was too obvious. Originally, the shrewd politicians of the Leray Federation were adept at dealing with James. However, this country was too democratic! Anyone could jump out and point fingers, the opposition could freely hold assemblies to criticize the current policies. No matter how untimely, parliamentary elections had to be held as scheduled. This system not only cultivated a bunch of cunning politicians but also tied their hands.

The most frustrating thing was, the Fei Alliance did not have a unified and clear attitude!

With the world situation at this stage, these democratic countries were still harboring illusions, continuously calling for peace, urging restraint domestically, and even some opposition party democrats visiting hostile forces, hoping to resolve a world war with their eloquence. Imperial countries quickly and even completed the transition to a wartime economy in a very short time. Every day, they were getting more prepared for war, while many democratic federation countries could not even pass a proposal for military expansion!

As for the so-called peace plan proposed by the Western Alliance nations in the Human Supreme Council, many Fei Alliance member countries were complacently silent or even foolishly cheering for peace! If not for the Feiyang Republic’s scorn for the plan, the Human Parliament might have directly issued a united resolution!

The one who has manipulated things to this extent is that madman sitting in the Tanville Palace, James! And I can be completely sure that this dictator, who loves to scheme in his dark study, absolutely has more political maneuvers than what we see on the surface! Give him proper stimulus, and he will take actions that will drive everyone crazy!
